Dear Nippon Steel.... We Australians thank you for your enthusiasm but we would like to be reassured that you extend your bold hopes to at least the next seven generations of humans but also so many other species that are threatened by thoughtless forms of industrial expansion. What do I mean? Your possible connection with the Australian coal mining company WHITEHAVEN COAL will be a mistake that your descendants will lament. Making high quality steel is a great thing but doing so whilst risking catastrophic climate change will not be forgiven in the very near future by those you may think you are helping. Whitehaven Coal in Australia predominantly mines thermal coal. You must know by now that burning such a damaging fuel to turn water into steam for a passing moment of electricity is an asymetrical act of climatic barbarism. We implore you to stick to what you do best and improve its climate footprint. Do not involve yourself in the folly of joining a deluded company who believe they will still be mining coal in 100 years from now. Please send them a sensible message from future Japanese generations and stay away from any such partnerships or investments.
