the thing about Indonesian street food is that some of them are served with just a little bit of seasoning, and they provide condiments on the table (spicy sambal, sweet soy sauce aka kecap manis, salty soy sauce, pepper, vinegar, even salt) so you can create your own "concoction" to make it taste to your liking. so if you happen to find a dish that tasted very mild, look for the condiments and have fun with it. make it sweeter, saltier, spicier, more acidic or a combo of everything.
This is a great tip and so true. There were sides on every table we sat at, so it was very much a "choose your own adventure." It was a great day of eating 😀

how to eat chicken noodles in Indonesia, please stir the noodles with chicken and vegetables to eat, it will create a real taste, not a flat taste when you chew, the spiced chicken taste will spread in the noodles, don't eat them one by one but mix them evenly, then use the broth This is to make your mouth fresh again after you chew the noodle mixture with seasoned chicken. It's best not to pour too much broth into your bowl of noodles because it will reduce the taste of the seasoned chicken meat👌this is just an input for people who are eating it for the first time. Indonesian chicken noodles especially with separate broth😁👌
Sate / satay is originally from Indonesia (and then spread to South East Asia by diasporic Indonesians). So sate is not just chicken sate that is normally soaked in peanut sauce. This peanuty chicken sate is originally from Ponorogo, eastern Java. There are so many types of sates, such as sate Padang ( mostly beef / beef tongue), sate sapi (so many styles, hundreds), goat sate. And so many more.
To eat Mie Ayam, you must mix it first because the spices and seasoning is at the bottom of the bowl. Indonesia normally will put tomato or cilly sauce and sweet soy been sauce
You must try Sate Maranggi with peanut sauce, Sop Gurame, Perkedel Kentang, Ayam Bakar, Gurame Bakar, Gurame Asam Manis, Mustofa Kentang, and Sop Bening Sapi. Come to Bandung City.
Warteg is kinda franchise Tegal *restaurant* Usually have word *Bahari* in it. Because City of Tegal located near by the sea. *Bahari* means laut / sea.
16:17 we indonesians mostly eat with spoons or bare hands( wash hands first), chopsticks is not our culture, except for chinese indonesian. We even eat noodles with spoon.
Warteg = warung tegal. Tegal is a small town is central java. A lot of Indonesian foods are named after a province/city. Other example: Nasi Padang (Padang Rice). Padang is provincial capital of West Sumatera. Other authentic Indonesian foods: gudeg, martabak, soto, sate padang, nasi padang, rawon, otak-otak, siomay, empek-empek, kerupuk emping, gado gado.
10:05 i believed thats ketupat (rice cake). You can tell the sate stall owner/the restaurant to include the rice cake or not from now on because majority of them always put the ketupat inside your portion. Some stall also sells the ketupat itself so you can buy it seperate. Cheers!
For Sate Padang, you will get ketupat (rice cake) wrapped in coconut leaves, Sate Ayam/sate sapi (chicken/beef) you will get Lontong (rice cake) wrapped in banana leaves. Have chips to dip into the sauce😋
Greetings please to meet both of you on TH-cam. Have some wonderful time and have some great traveling in Jakarta and surrounding in Indonesia 🇮🇩 take care and be well guys 😊😎✌️🇮🇩

To dodge gridlocks in Jakarta, steer clear commuting at 7-9AM and 5-8PM. At noontimes can be pretty hectic too. If you ever want to have some island vibes, you may wanna go to PIK (a very upscale chinatown). Bali might be the ultimate oceanic delights tho. Just my .25c. Happy visiting!

No Spicy No Party 😁 ... try also "gado-gado" (mix vegetable with peanut sauce) and "Martabak" with peanut cheese and chocolate (indonesia dessert) ... for soup can also try "Soto" (kind of chicken soup) .... also should try for seafood restaurant here (such as wirosableng, seafood sentosa, etc), or u can have experience buying the raw in the market first floor and cook at 2 floor in Pasar Muara Baru ...
for attraction, u can go to Pantai Indah Kapuk (Chinatown) 😁
To dodge gridlocks in Jakarta, steer clear commuting at 7-9AM and 5-8PM. At noontimes can be pretty hectic too. If you ever want to have some island vibes, you may wanna go to PIK (a very upscale chinatown). Bali might be the ultimate oceanic delights tho. Just my .25c. Happy visiting!
Thank you for the great tips and tricks. Even with the traffic, we are huge fans of Jakarta. It's a very fun city to explore and there is so much to see 🇮🇩💛
You very welcome, great to hear! If you like strolling around, avoid sketchy areas like Tanjung Priok port esp. at nights. Flies and mosquitoes can be too pesky, apply Autan lotion before going outdoors. Finally, hop on 'Whoosh' bullet train to visit Bandung if you fancy cool breezes. Stay safe n sound! 💪

Always have sweet drinks such as iced sweet tea on hand every time you have spicy food, the sugar will help a lot putting out the fire in your mouth.
Sate Padang is with gravy not peanut sauce, and most sate can be served as a combo with lontong aka rice cakes.
Kalau sudah pernah ke INDONESIA kamu pasti akan merindukannya lagi 😇
