    Don't have KTT or a better half, I live alone in my house.😁 Do share space in garage with a motorcycle and lawn/laundry equipment so this looks like an awesome project. Need to upgrade the power in the garage with dedicated outlets for table saw and dust collector because sawdust is getting out of hand. I have a game plan though.👍 Eventually I'll build a standalone alarmed shed out back for the bike and lawn equipment and I'll be good to go. Will use battery powered lights until I can afford to run a sub panel. Thanks for all your inspiration and I got SkillShare for 50 percent off as I do a lot of work with Adobe After Effects and the rest of the Adobe CC Suite.

    KTT haha
    Im using that from now on. I only have 4 bikes, 2 power wheels, a couple scooters, helmets, a bin of sidewalk chalk, etc... and there's more in there. That's just off the top of my head picturing the mound of junk I have now. That's all part of the upcoming garage makeover. I have a feeling a Toy Purge is coming.

    Nice work on some very useful cabinets. I would have liked to see you put the last cabinet (under the desk) on wheels so that you could move it out of the way to better utilize the desk. Keep the videos coming. It gives the DIY'ers inspiration.

    Cool design. I've been looking at building something similar out of MDF and then ones I'd seen were all pretty much 400x400x780mm. I didn't see the point in adding an extra side so I think I'll build double cabinets something along these lines about 800mm wide (to keep with the 2.4x1.2m sheets). Not too sure about the spray can storage, but I think I'll retrofit some store bought racks. All I want around the bench is glues and fillers generally. Thanks for the ideas though!

  • @ChrisHornberger
    @ChrisHornberger ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you do about keeping your glue from freezing and becoming usable in a garage shop?

    • @Ewookie1gj
      @Ewookie1gj ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same problem. I had to finally break down a by a garage heater from Amazon. Now I have to 'insulate' my garage. I've also heard of a neat little trick of building a cabinet with a high wattage light bulb in the bottom, lined with something reflective and fire resistant, to heat the rest of the cabinet. That works for glue and paint. Although, "paint" might not be such a good idea in a cabinet like that. But, it would be good for glue, tape, and other less flammable materials. I think it might actually work for paint too, as long as you keep the paint on the "top" shelves.
      Oh yea. It also works better to warm the higher shelves if you have some sort of gaps going up through the cabinet to let the heat rise. Might even want to put a couple of 'small' holes in the bottom to let air in, causing a 'flow' of air through the cabinet.
      Double check me on that heated cabinet though. It was a great idea when I discovered it years ago. But... it may have turned out being too much of a fire risk. Especially depending on what kind of bulb you use, etc...

      And at my age the comfort of cargo shorts has given way to the extreme comfort sweat shorts. I live in Arizona, and might put cargo shorts on 4 times a year, and full length pants maybe 3 times a year at most. In a few more years I plan on transitioning to just all out naked. Well, maybe an occasional shop apron to avoid splinters.

    Great work! I purchased the bundle of plans and then realized that the cost of the plywood vs buying premade cabinets are around the same. With the current cost of plywood, i'm looking at around $320+ for just plywood. For $325 I can get 2x premade ready-to-mount cabinets. I'll be holding onto these plans i just purchased for when plywood prices drop in the future... If they ever do...

    I have the WORST K.T.T. One son, has a motorhome, a truck, car, long trailer, 2 motorcycles and half the attic space. The other, finds things and brings them home in his truck. A giant bird cage, a set of weights, an old gun safe (for me) and etc. When the garage gets cluttered, they ALL tell me, "It's your shop, you clean it up." That's where we are today. They act like they are doing ME a favor by getting this stuff. With the full kitchen remodel coming up, they know that I have to get it done before I can do the kitchen. Oh well. How's that saying go?? "Gotta love the baby." Except my oldest son is 33.

      Any update on this build? I'm thinking of buying the plans also.

      @@fernyblue yeah I built this one a couple months back and now I just finished his 6 drawer cabinet as well. If you want, I can send you some pics, let me know.

    580K views from people with varying degrees of skill. Does anybody remember ShopNotes magazine, Norm Abram from the "The New Yankee Workshop"? or Roy Underhill from the "Woodwright's Shop" or the "Woodsmith Shop"? It would be great if a wood worker channel provided a long form, step by step video . Can anybody think of a person that has stepped out of the norm and provided a long form interview with some success?

    KTT has been eliminated in my garage by building above garage door storage! I have 11' ceilings so it works great! I also ran two more down the sides and no more toys on the work floor! WOOT!

      Wow, nice! But how do you deal with "daddy, get that toy down please!!!". I'm a big fan of keeping it where they don't need my to help to get to them. Got a better mouse trap?

    I’m in love with these cabinets! I love the idea of being able to really maximize storage space so well like that! Nice build!

    I don't usually comment, but after seeing you make the effort to get matching shades of ply cabinet fronts on another video I was surprised to see here that the larger draw fronts don't match the smaller draw fronts. I would have had to make the openings line up across the run. Sorry, I've been told I have OCD... Mmmm ?
    I do enjoy your videos, but wish you spoke slightly slower... just kidding. Keep up the good work. Mike (uk).
