    While mentioning O- ion migration inside the zirconia cells is there physical migration, or only electrons are getting transferred?

    Could you please tell me more about ionisation of O2 ? Is it Zr or Pt is ionising O2?

    • @silenceandprogress
      @silenceandprogress  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pt is responsible for ionization. It is used as catalyst to change O2 molecules to O2 ions in one plate and O2 ions to O2 molecule in another plate. The plate where O2 concentration is higher, electron is released by Pt and O2 atoms gains those electrons. So that Pt plate gains +ve potential. Those -ve ions flow through electrolyte (ZrO2) and reach to other side Pt electrode where O2 ions release electron at Pt plate and form O2 atom again and Pt electrode gains -ve potential. Magnitude of difference of potentials between to Pt electrodes is function of O2 concentration in unknown sample.
      Anyway, i am proud to get a subscriber like you. Be well.

    I have no problem with the lesson itself. It is well done. However, I would suggest you don't read the text on the screen. It's redundant.
