My boy cam Akers is a beast and true freshman doing this I’m saying it now he is the BEST RUNNING BACK IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL TELL ME OTHERWISE and will be a top 5 back in nfl hope bucs can get him
Last year he wanted to get to the end zone every single player that's why he was pissed off almost every play and his teammates gave their respect but he didn't give it back, but this year will be much better and from the interviews I saw recently and just with the new coaching staff he feels happier and he realizes that you can run for a first down and not every play will go all the way and he is going to be insanely good this year and he's going to be a team member this year
He is going to be the best RB in college football this year! I predict he might be the best FSU RB in FSU history if he stays long enough. Dunn and Cook were amazing but this kid is a monster.
Cook was always a RB coming out of HS while Akers was a QB in HS operating from a Wildcat formation. The transition from QB to RB in college was a lot more difficult for Cam who had to learn how to run between the tackles (something he didn't need to do in HS with his outside speed), whereas, for Cook, it was basically Plug n Play. No doubt that Cook was the GOAT at FSU and Akers will be the next GOAT for FSU as well just like Dunn was before Cook.
This kid has swag! I watched him get up and start shoving and jawing at a 320 lb DT. He's not afraid of anyone. I loved how he finished off his big run vs. Miami by laying the wood on the 'Canes' DB and getting the DB and Miami flagged for UC! The biggest surprise about Akers is that he was a QB in HS - which his detractors* either don't know or ignore - and had to learn how to run behind blockers out of the I formation. *Clemson fan wrote "Akers>Etienne" implying that Etienne was a better RB based only on the one-time matchup between the worst FSU team since 2007 & one of Clemson's best teams at Death Valley. Here's a comparison of how both of the RB's did against the same opponents. I adjusted yard totals & per play averages by deducting the longest play (LG) that each RB had against the same opponents. ETIENNE AKERS TEAM LG YD AV LG YD AV Louisville 81 17 3.4 10 75 4.7 Wake Forest 20 47 3.4 27 31 2.4 Syracuse 52 16 4.0 63 136 6.5 NC State 6 25 3.6 16 39 3.6 Miami 6 18 3.6 46 75 3.9 Alabama 8 14 4.7 9 21 2.3 Akers outgained Etienne in four of the five head-to-head match-ups and was 3-to-2 on having a higher per play average.
Redwine ate that shit and popped right back up. He should've ran for 300 yds given all the blatant holding y'all got away with and still couldn't win. Foh.
TheDrRJP I don’t have to read his history because I WENT To his games that’s how I KNOW what I’m talking about. I live in Clinton, MS. I’m an alum of the high school he went to.
Jared K Akers was the feature back all season starting with the Alabama game. Cook played behind Carlos Williams and Mario pender. He wasn’t really used until the Miami game of the 2014 season
WTF are you talking about? Akers split time with Patrick in every game - especially against Alabama and more so through the first six games. He didn't become a 3-down back until really the last five games. Granted, Akers needed a lot more carries to break Cook's record but the O-line in 2014 was a quantum leap better than what they had healthy in 2017. As a freshman, Cook played alongside a more experienced QB than Blackman (who was only four months removed from high school) - some nobody named Jameis Winston. A great passing attack engineered by a QB who made better use of play-action than any previous FSU signal-callers with the possible exception of Chris Weinke, opens up numerous opportunities for a great rushing attack as well. It certainly did in 2014 with Winston just as it did in 2015 with Golson and MacGuire and Deondre Francois in 2016. As I also noted above, in high school, Akers played QB operating out of the Wildcat formation in which he split time between putting up gaudy passing numbers while also gobbling up impressive rushing yardage. Akers used his quickness and speed to basically outrun everybody at the HS level. The only times he ran between the tackles were on misdirection plays where he first faked outside and then took it up inside. When he got to FSU, he had to learn how to run from a deep back position in the I-formation taking it hard between the tackles on short yardage situations and running North-South behind the fullback. In HS, most of his rushing plays were sweeps to the outside. Meanwhile, it was Plug -n- Play for Cook who played RB at Miami Central in a one-back shotgun set. Even though he split time with another back in 2013, the stats he put up were eye-popping: 177 carries for 1,940 yards and 34 TD's - that's 11 yards per carry! Here's Cook's highlights from 2014: th-cam.com/video/ZrdzWLUQ4ww/w-d-xo.html Akers senior stats (passing and rushing) were also something to behold. PASSING: 173 of 280 for 3,128 yards and 31 TD's RUSHING : 242 carries for 2,105 yards and 34 TDs TOTAL OFF: 415 touches for 5,233 yards and 65 TDs. Here are Akers' HS highlights from 2016: th-cam.com/video/qsMKGEnM3BI/w-d-xo.html
remember when we got Lorenzo Booker the number one high school recruit and all of America everybody thought he was going to be the knights Barry Sanders he was small and Shifty I'm not saying that he didn't have a good career but he didn't pan out what he was supposed to be luckily we had Greg Jones in the backfield with them
Ryan Sean I don't think they used Booker enough. Everytime I watched Booker get the ball he had a chunk play. What's amazing about cam is that he was a quarterback and he had to learn how to run in between the tackles after making huge yardage around the ends

He wasn't always a QB in high school, he got moved to the QB from the RB position. He has always been a RB.
@@jayrell5 Sorry but you're wrong. Read his history.
@@daddyeyez740 Cry me a fucking river. How about that bullshit double pass call last year that handed you the victory?

I know no one wants to talk about the BC game; but let’s not overlook how Cam threw that ball 50 yards on a dime.
Jake Mitchell couldve used him a little at qb .. Just to throw a few wrinkles in
Jake Mitchell he played an in high school
Jake Mitchell he played QB in hs
He broke Dalvin Cook record for most rushing yards as a freshman
Cuz he played all season. Cook didn't.

Yes, they were which is why they call 2000-2009 "The Lost Decade." Jimbo took over in 2010.
8:07 hilight video as a freshman!?! Did any other player in the acc have this many hilights?
The first play look more like a top play for Ronnie Harrison 😂

I think hes like a balance of LF and DC#4 Just saying, let me know if any other fans think this.
ben limback, no Fournette in him. He's an FSU back. FSU backs are better than LSU backs. Plus, Akers is faster and can do more overall.
obviously you didnt watch the miami fsu game last year
who is DC#4 ... Sure I could google it but I'll wait.
ah Dalvin Cook
