Such a good show, simple premise and lots of commitment really pay off. The guy who plays Fak is actually a chef. They did a good job making it all feel authentic. FX produces some great stuff!
you guys are right! here in Chicago those restaurants are called "Mom n Pop shops" little hole in the wall restaurants that sell your basic Italian Beefs, Hot dogs, cheeseburgers and fries....nothing fancy just common food thats real big here in Chicago....also his name is Carmen. all the family members call each other "Bear" because their last name is Berzatto

This is my new favourite show. It is just so well done.
The Bear is very good with showing and not telling.
I think this restaurant is more like a sandwich shop with beef sandwiches as a specialty. For me a diner serves breakfast all day and other basics like meatloaf or grilled cheese.

I cheered when Carmy tossed the tomatoes. That sauce was gonna suck his soul.
I have watched many reactions of this show, and you are the first to recognize Jon Bernthal from that shot of his back and also realize that he is brother Mikey. You also noticed the picture in hanging in the bathroom, which we will come back to. Looking forward to more reactions on this from you.
This pilot was filmed in a classic Italian Beef restaurant, Mister Beef on Orleans, which I have been to. The menu is sandwiches, plus a dinner menu you will see more of, which included spaghetti.
