How Much Good Can One Person Really Do?

  • One of the reasons the world is in the state that it is, is because everybody mortgages what is really pulling at their heart to do something abstract. For the thing that they think they have to do for the numbers to work out.

I'm so grateful to hear your voice Charles. I met you in the film - The Sixth Sun - I was moved by your words imbued with presence. I've since then listened to a few of your essays and video's and today introduced you to my Facebook Friends with this video. You reminded me of a moment in high school when I saw "The Miracle Worker" - and was introduced to Helen Keller. I kept this quote of hers beside my teaching desk for many years. “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” This universal truth which you express so eloquently here - reminded me of the first time I experienced it through Helen Keller. In appreciation of what you gift us with and wishing you "All The Best" with your heart-centered life. Catherine

We never fully know what difference a single act of kindness might have produced and affected the entire planet.

I AM all too familiar w/those voices of parents, siblings, friends, etc. Defending the 'old story' and I sense that there are things in life that they'd rather be doing.

The morphic resonance thoery approach is really lovely. I like the idea of a psychic field that surrounds the earth, something akin to the ionosphere, receives a ripple of energy from every act of kindness that adds to the likelihood of it happening again elsewhere

Even as I hear your words in 2023, there is so much resonance in the way events and happenings have been unfolding in my life. I am so very grateful for your words and for allowing the ancestral voices to be woven into them. While I am listening, the images that the mind is conditioned to form through words recede and it is a marvelous comfort to my heart. The truth rings through even though I cannot comprehend it logically, it still stitches together a reality that I can feel, like music. Thank you so much.

You might be right, Charles. If there were no cameras in the room, probably those four or five people in the room would have had a good conversation together, have shared their thoughts on the subject. Afterwards maybe they would do something as a reaction. Now we (the viewers) only see and hear you ...

I truly believe that if each of us does what we are guided to do each day - no matter how small - then together we will make great change. I appreciate you taking time to record this.

Really appreciate the work you're doing, Charles. I think you may find some aspects of a theory called 'human design' interesting and I thought I'd mention it here. It goes a bit into the esoteric realm, but what you've described here as the voice sounds a lot like emotional clarity in human design (or alternatively in the gene keys).
Cheers and looking forward to more of your content!

On the other hand, I know that I woke up to something and I want things to change, at least in my own life's radius. A bit confusing..

When people tell me that I'm just a distrusting childish rebel for not wanting the vaccine, do you think they are pointing out a blind spot? Or can I just trust what genuinely feels right for me, without fearing that perhaps unconsciously I am trying to serve some 'hidden agenda' with it?

Is it not that 'movers and shakers' are created in the same way? Maybe Hitler`s parents were worst than him (theoretically). How we know, that helping an old lady, passing street, will create "good" things in future? Maybe she is a horrible person that humiliates her own grandson, who one day will kill dozens of people..? Is believe in goodness not only a faith?

I like Charles, and usually agree philosophically with him. But, he fundamentally does not understand the timescales of the climate crisis. We do not have 500 years... the scientific community tells us we literally have decades (within my lifetime) to avoid hitting climate tipping points and triggering the collapse of human civilization and the 6th mass extinction. Just listen to the basic statements from the UN IPCC report, the consensus of the global scientific community. There's still no easy answers as to what it means to live well in these turbulent times, but you really do have to start from the basic physics to grapple meaningfully with these questions.
