- After having some minor setbacks (camera going defunct and laptop screen cracking), the footage from my trip to Portland and Seattle are now playing!
To kick things off, I'll show you Some Shots Around The City of Roses (Portland, OR) in which you'll see clips from Tri-Met buses in various areas in Portland and surrounding areas. Enjoy!
I also wanted to say that the Lewis & Clark College Gillig Phantom bus is a 2001 model-year unit inherited from Santa Clarita Transit. It uses a Cummins ISL diesel engine.
The one in the video is a 1989 ex-OCTA unit.

Then I think that one may have had a Cummins L10 (same as our Phantoms) and Voith D863.
Montigue Magruder
I also wonder: as 1798 is leaving (around the 6:50 mark), it sounds like it has a "Swiss cheese" exhaust - meaning a very noisy yet bassy exhaust tone.
They have some Detroit-powered D40LFs (2001-2022) and some Gillig Phantoms with Allison trannies (2161-2165). At one time, they also ran GMC RTS and some Detroit-powered Flxibles.
You ever heard of "Hummin' Cummins"? It's an official company slogan, and a song.
Good thing while in Hillsboro at the 6:30 mark you caught a 1992 Flxible air starting!
Those '97 D40LFs with the Detroit Diesel Series 50 are rare on TriMet.
At the start of this presentation, the first Flxible I see is 1823 (a 1994 model) and the second Flxible (the one after the Gillig Phantom) is, uncannily, 1723 (a 1992 model).
TriMet has all but completely cleared their fleet of New Flyer. No more Cummins diesels for them. It’s all Gillig BRT buses now.
Wow Portland runs nothing but Cummins and Voiths, and those light rail trains didn't sound to bad either
@MetroLinerXLZ I just learned something new
what is the name of the song from the intro?
The song is Fukai Mori by Do As Infinity. I used the instrumental version for the intro.
thank you, one more question. Portland is a good place to live and work?
Can't say if it's a good place to live. I was only there for a weekend, but I can say it's quire easy to get around.
Pay is higher there than most states, so the jobs are better.
This was before all the bums took over. Portland is such a different city now.
No blinker around 5:30 ish
