These are fantastic simulations and beautifully modelled modelled too, it makes you feel that your really on board up there with them during ww1, I know this is portraying ww1 aerial combat , but as in real life for me personally i think just to simply fly these aircraft safely from A to B is reward enough instead people trying to kill each other, war is so coldly wasteful of human life and material , but getting back to this simulation i love all that old fashioned engineering with wood, leather, and metal, and the ingenuity of how they designed these aircraft, i love this simulation despite my reservations of being set in a war scenario its just fantastic.

Try adding some commentary and explaining what you're doing. Your video came up because I watch similar videos and I'd have been hooked and probably would have subscribed if you explained more of what was going on.

Definitely, flight sims are hard to watch unless someone makes it pretty clear what's going on

This, truly. Like, why weren't the bombs dropped? It was so suspenseful watching him setting up for the pass and my mind is just screaming "PUSH THE BUTTON" and then he just flew on.

I got recommended this video and didn't think I'd stick around for the full length, but I did and I'm happier for it. The point in the video where you were firing off flares and machineguns, was that you goofing off or did you see something worth shooting that I didn't?

    the sudden funky manouvre-what happened?

I lost control. The ailerons of the gotha are so bad that when you roll too much, the drag they cause leads to yaw in the wrong direction. I think the correct word for that is "adverse yaw"

@@danblauwal4524 was the actual aircaft prone to those problems or is it game modelling?

@@paulvonhindenburg4727 I dont know much about the history of the Gotha. The developers of IL-2 show specifications of their planes. At the end of the list they show the references. In case of the Gotha 4 books are referenced. 1) Gotha by P.M. Grosz 2) German Aircraft of World war I, Grey and Thetford and 2 more references. I assume the real gotha had the problem of adversal yaw and the Game is simulating it as good as possible

@@danblauwal4524 They were more effective than the Zeppelin airships (more defensible and less prone to catching fire lol!) Gotha, Zeppelin-Staaken and DAE all made heavies for the German LSK (air force) - Russia and Britain also got into the giant bomber game as well.

@@paulvonhindenburg4727 Except that the Gotha here is a Großflugzeug, not a Riesenflugzeug. The latter has 3+ engines which can be serviced in flight- which meant usually they were inside the hull and used e.g. chain belts to transmit the power to the prop(s) or had manned/mannable gondolas not unlike rigid airships.
Of which the Zeppelin-type was but one, using duralumin pipes to construct the rigid hull - the other big (but not only) contender was Schütte-Lanz, using plywood, which they had computed, was more weight-efficient until you got to huge airship sizes.
Their airships served throughout the war looking for enemy submarines and scouting for the Hochseeflotte. Being much cheaper and faster than a scout cruiser while requiring only 20 or so crew were very welcome features.

IL-2 has a fully compatible WWI section called Flying Circus.
You can fly the 109 over Verdun as well as the Fokker Dr1 over Stalingrad.

not sure, never had IL-2 mods installed. Maybe you are talking about IL-2 1946 which is a different thing? 1CGS are probably working a korea war project with jets. You can find videos of the devs on this new project@@Cybernaut76
