    I'll never forget when Queens first album came out I was 12 years old. I loved their first album. They toured that year in the US, before many people knew about them, opening for Mott The Hoople. I was so lucky my brother took me to that concert. I'll never forget it and I'm 57 now. They were great, Freddie was great.

    • @pjeffries301

      The Mott tour was in 74 after the release of the second LP. You must have been darn lucky cause they had to drop out after just 4 shows (May got sick). Aerosmith jumped in to replace them. Yeah, my memory is getting fuzzy too. Still have the stub. Oh and Mott blew them AWAY!

      @@pjeffries301 Mott blew whom away? Aerosmith? I can believe that. But Queen? Queen obviously eclipsed Mott easily, and even Aerosmith is unfit to share a stage with Queen. Steven Tyler couldn't shine Freddie's shoes.

    • @pjeffries301
      @pjeffries301 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@robertorolfo I agree, Queen eclipsed Mott, but not the night I saw them. And Queen was terrific, don't get me wrong. Mott cleared off the stage and let Queen use the headliner lights and sound - Great stuff. Even without Mick Ralphs, Mott was one hell of a live band. Both Queen and A-smith went on to stardom after Mott University. Coincidence?

    It is a sweet moment to see John singing with Freddie. They bond in the songs either wrote/shared credit writing. As another commenter wrote, they shared similar musical tastes. In a funky dance tune video "Back Chat" from Hot Space (an album that did not do well then but some of us have a fondness for now because it was Freddie-John centric) you can see a moment of full blown admiration from John watching Freddie. Like I said, just - sweet.

      Queen always ended a concert with God save the Queen, that song wasn't played life, there stould this huge tape recorder on stage and the band said goodbye, bowed to the puplic and walked away from the stage.
      (then that song started) Me and some friends knew that Freddie kinda silently escaped the crowd by stepping in to the limousine at the back of the theatre, I was there before the song ,God save the Queen, ended.

That audiotape is one of the few objects I've treasured to date, even if I don't have a reader to listen to it anymore. Still in love with this song and with Queen.

    Every member of Queen had such great stage presence and sex appeal that there was no way they wouldn't be noticed. Their name could have been "King" just as easily, but it was the members themselves, Freddie, Brian, John, and Roger. They had the drive to become great, and still today, their music plays and is noticed by the next generation. Just as devastating as it was to lose Freddie, the same goes for the others. It could have been any of them that passed away young, and the world would still be mourning their loss. Each one of them are individuals, but together "they are QUEEN", no replacement would ever match the original.

    The only way the younger people will know about Freddie and Queen is having their friends tell them about Freddie. Still many recent comments being put up and after 26 yrs of being gone, we can still perpetuate his legend by telling everyone about Queen and especially Freddie. That is how we keep them from fading into history, especially keeping Freddie alive. Never thought I would be crazy over a singer other than Elvis, but boy, Freddie takes MY breath away.

      The reason I know about Queen, is that, I original hated Bohemian Rhapsody (Because I thought it was a slow and dragged out song, I never listened to the whole thing) Until one day, I noticed it was 6 minutes long. I went to the middle of the song, and I was like "Oh, OK" And ever since then I've been listening to Queen.

      Jan Hunt Yes, the way I know about Queen is by my friends...yea no... I was raised with the 80s and I fell deeply in love specifically with Queen. They are all so talented. Brian can sing like an angel and play guitar. Freddie sings like a God and can play the piano along with a little guitar. John can play bass like a boss and had amazing dance moves. Roger can sing and play the drums as well. Now, not that my parents go completely 70s-80s, they listen to today’s hits too. But out of my choice I go to Queen. Not stupid Justin Bieber. He can die... Bought this album when it first came out and felt these guys really had the power and majesty of Zeppelin with their riffs and jams and incredible vocals. An "album rock" band.For me, this is my favorite of their albums as they eventually evolved to be more of a song-oriented band. Great hit songs they wrote and produced but I more enjoyed this era.
