    We retire in 12-14 months and we have a dozen or so cities to visit before deciding where to put retirement roots down. 6 in Mexico, 2 including Antigua in Guatemala, 1 in Nicaragua, 1 in Colombia, 1 in Ecuador, and one in Peru.
    We are very optimistic about Antigua and cant wait to try all of the Vegan restaurants !

      Wow so many options, it would be so hard to choose!! We haven't yet been to Colombia or Ecuador (heading there next week) but we were really impressed with Antigua. That would be our choice for sure!

      We’ll try….whatever a tourist visa will allow, but that’s the plan. We are actually moving to stop #1 on Feb 28th….heading to my wife’s home country. Matagalpa, Nicaragua. We will be there for a few years until our senior dogs are gone.

    San Marcos, La laguna Atitlan is a nice secure holistic town . Rooms there are less per month than most places . Used to be many vegetarian vegan places there in San Marcos. Hotel and cafe La Paz in San Marcos excellent. Krishna's or Ganesha's cafe in Panajachel is vegan family . Hotel El Sol in Jucanja next to Panajachel is a surprise and good hospitality. They'll fix vegan for you. Most have saunas which is uncanny for Mayans to have a saunas (word play from Buddha time) ❤ Weave some at San Juan Atitlan. ❤ Have more fun, would love to be there!!!

      We did spend a few nights outside of Panajachel but didn't leave the Airbnb because the view of the lake was too stunning! haha

    You think 3 days in Antigua and 2 on the lake atitlan is enough? Or 2 in Antigua and 3 on the lake ?
    We will be doing a day volcano in Antigua not overnight

    • @VeganVoyagers
      @VeganVoyagers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We would definitely recommend staying as long as possible in Antigua! Also consider that it's quite a bit of a drive to get out to Atitlan, so you're going to lose half a day in each direction. 5 days definitely isn't enough, but if that's all you have, we would definitely stay longer in Antigua, especially if you're spending a whole day hiking the nearby volcano. Have fun!
