    Found out that this snare drum is now discontinued, so picked one up last month. After 30 years of playing and having owned over 25 different snare drums, I can say with confidence that this is my favorite. Fantastic sound and looks.

    I just got this yesterday and it sounds incredible. It really cuts through but gets out of the way. It is the absolute best bang for your buck

    I own this snare. It's simply an amazing drum. Loud, sensitive and a wide tuning range.

      +Brady Dastrup how would it be for metal music?

      +Aeliana Band Its perfect. Many artists use Bubinga snares. Matt Garska has, as well as Mike Portnoy who's always got incredible sounding snares. Bubinga is one of the most versatile woods. Its a one size fits all. Just needs the right heads and tuning.

      Aeliana Band I'm in a metal/hard rock band and this is my main snare. Check us out and hear the snare for yourself. Kings Peak is my bands name. We're here on TH-cam, SoundCloud and bamdcamp.

      It's punchy, loud and no matter how high you tune it, it has this aggressive "oof" so yeah... it's perfect for metal. But I tour with a country rock band and it works for that too. Super versatile but you have to watch your volume. It's loud.

      Brady Dastrup how did you tune it ? What heads did you use ?

    I picked one of these up about a year ago, as I've been collecting pretty much any Tama Bubinga I could get my hands on. Great snare, especially for recording. Very dry, excellent pop, and tone. It's one thicker Bubinga shell, with that dark wood color, like the old MIJ's

    This snare is incredible!!!! Such a fat thick tone with a ton of attack and super sensitive yet has massive volume. I use this with my prog/metal band and it cuts through perfectly. My favorite wood snare by far. This entire slp line is just one of the many reasons Tama is the best drum company in the world imo. Affordable price with top notch quality and amazing creative ideas and concepts and tech/specs, there’s something for everyone and anyone in this slp line. I currently own this Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga, Tama slp Black brass, and Tama slp dynamic bronze and love them all equally for different reasons. If I had to pick it’d be this or the Tama slp Black brass. Those two are so versatile if I had to pick two snares forever I would keep those two, one wood one metal, cause they both can do everything.

    I’ve owned this snare drum for 4 years already. It has sat in my garage fighting through the harsh Las Vegas heat and cold for a year. I just changed the heads on it and it sounds like brand new. The only way I’ll ever give up on this is if Tama makes an Oak snare.

      Fred Fonacier III yea what's cold? 60? Lol, just kidding. I agree what you said, damn great snare!!

    It just has a fat sound, almost like a brass snare. It's got such a monster tonality and cut. I just love it. It has a great balance between metal and wood sounds

    Nice sharp and fat sound without a lot of ring. Sounds like it can cut through without being obnoxious.

    @jalenmichaelheggie I agree, I have a 14x8 bubinga laying here with the metallic black and gold inlay. Beautiful thing. However, not the least bit versatile. Dislike. It's nice having it low tuned, even detuned, for greasy blues shuffles.

    So basically is it dry like an Acrolite but just louder? I also currently have a Pearl Chad Smith which is loud but has too many nasty overtones...so maybe the Bubinga is the best of both worlds for me?

    • @DS-wo8wr
      @DS-wo8wr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have this as well as an Acro. Nowhere near the same... The G Bubinga is not nearly as dry as the Acro. It is drier than a similar maple snare.

    It’s dryer because of it’s thick shell

    Could this drum be used in a jazz context? I can't decide between this or the Classic Maple snare drum.

      Eddy Marquez chon is not jazz tho lol. I’ve seen him use the slp hammered steel snare and then slp power maple but never seen him play this one.

  • @gulinotm

    Dude, every one of these drums gets the same review from this guy, "it can be used with anything" pretty much lol. im not hearing 'fat' from this drum though, for as thick as it is, it sounds remarkably thin.

      @Nikita_Pa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What snares are sounding "fat" in your opinion?
