Man I'm so glad to have grown up when country music was still country. Artists like Craig Morgan, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley were my childhood. I'm so glad I grow up listening to country before 2009-2010 when it started to get extremely poppy. To me Country was good from Hank Williams all the way up until Taylor Swift started singing pop on country radio. I know shania started pop country, but it didn't start sounding like crap to me until Taylor's 2nd or 3rd album. But I must also agree with WVRedneck and say that at least when comparing what we have now to what we had ten/fifteen years ago and even further back, at least that sounded like country music. Or at least what most people will say it should be.
