    I listened to this speaker at Munich high end and immediately caught my attention because it was incredibly musical, one of the very best in the show regardless of the price for sheer musicality and enjoyment

      The original 770 was also an incredibly musical spk. Farad Azima’s designs went beyond spks. The Cyrus 1 & 2 amplifiers he designed were also excellent. Peter Comeau is an excellent spk designer. Love those old heybrooks that he designed.

      Well obviously you haven't heard a good audio system have you, 🤣. If you like ported non tight bloat for midbass and bass go right ahead and buy these overpriced boxes, along with the plastic sound quality of polypropylene drivers. For this money you could buy ATC SCM19A active crossover loudspeakers, but me myself it is the ATC SCM50ASL, if you want to hear truth and realism.

      @@ianjohnhorwood2605 like all things in audio, everything is subjective & personal preference/taste shall always prevail. I have listened to countless ATC setups & though some are good, i was never so attracted to any to want to own one. For me, i prefer spks that are easier to drive. ATCs need gobs of power & they only sound good when played at neighbour unfriendly levels. I live in a crowded country where neighbours are all living within close proximity to one another so ATCs are not practical for me. Many of my friends who own ATC are mostly hard of hearing or suffering from serious tinnitus. These spks only come alive at very high levels becos that’s what they are designed to do well.

      @@soundstagenetwork You tell us all how they sound - the onus is on you. You said, "Do they sound good? I don't know because I haven't listened to them long enough." So, after blowing Peter Comeau's (He is a very talented man) trumpet you've not fully reviewed the product and cannot give an objective or even subjective review. How much are you paid for 'favorable' reviews? in your publications?

    Why are so many people rushing to criticise Audio Science Review!? And why don’t you have the courage do call out who you are referring to. They are taking an approach, and there’s a place for it just as there’s a place for fully subjective reviews, just as there’s a place for mixed subjective and objective reviews. Getting tired of the undertones of snide criticism flowing into so many audiophile videos.

    • @dougschneider8243
      @dougschneider8243 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why is Audio Science Review being brought up in this context? If it's because of my comment about measuring before listening, it applies to more people/reviewers than that forum. Some people at Audio Science Review seem to do that - but when you look around, there are quite a few others doing it as well. This is particularly true of consumers who are scurrying around measurement sites and elsewhere and letting that guide them. Like I said in the video, that's "misguided" to approach hi-fi review -- and buying -- like that. Ultimately, you have to listen to these things.

    • @r423sdex
      @r423sdex 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dougschneider8243 who do you go to for guidance , hope it's not reviewers on TH-cam. They are in the pockets of the companies. Another classic one is "what hi-fi" absolutely clueless. Plenty of false claims in the audiophile industry. Trust in measurements first, and then go and have a listen.

      You might be surprised to hear that some actually don't. You might be surprised to hear that, but a couple of "boutique" speaker makers actually told me that. But I think you'll find few who will go through the 174 "listened to" crossover revisions that Comeau did.

    • @dougschneider8243
      @dougschneider8243 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hyunkim8101 I could name several, but I won't because how I learned it was in direct, private conversations with the designers and it wasn't for an article, etc. I've been to more hi-fi companies around the world than another other writer/reviewer. I've seen a lot of different approaches. My trips are often for me to gain insight into what goes on where.
      But I will say there were two conversations that jump to mind that I'll share. One involved company that trusted measurements so much, the main designer told me he wouldn't voice the speakers for what his ears and others' ears would tell him. He'd go by the measurements. Another was similar - he described a speaker he was designing and the measurement was showing him something he wanted to see, regardless of what his ears would tell him. So he didn't want to change it - and didn't. His phrase to me was, "Why would I trust my ears over the measurements."
      I don't agree with these approaches. In most instances, good designs are achieved through a combination of listening and measuring - but how much listening and how much measuring can vary considerably.
