I might reiterate this on Patreon but for people who have been here a couple years I feel like through bits and pieces I have been able to get your favorite X-men stories where I only know the classics you love from ASM and things like last hunt
Breaking up stories in two parts for collected editions snd then an eventful deluxe edition is a smart idea by DC. Making money hand over fist with singles, digital, standard HC and an OHC. Less risky than omnivus in their minds which they don't think will sell unless they're Batman or Gotham/Batfamily related.
Love that x-men custom omnibus, always liked mat paper like the library edition & absolute edition over that glossy paper the colors just look closer to the original comics & books are a lot lighter which is always a plus
Omar, for the Absolute edition of Planetary, the glue seeped through the ribbon and it stuck to the spine board. Take a bread knife and SLOWLY pry the ribbon away from the board and you will get a decent eye. I did this and it is fine. Just stick the knife under the ribbon and you will hear it coming up.
Nice haul! I too finally bought the Absolute GL/GA book in recent months, despite already having the Deluxe Edition. OPB had it for a good price, and I think there was a Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale or something, so I went for it.
From what I've heard about Absolute Planetary the issue is that it's over glued, some folks have managed to pry it up, with quite a crack by all accounts, and get the eye. Sticking to the Omni myself.
I wish that X-men omnibus was really from Marvel and for sale !!! That cover is my childhood !! I’d buy a Joe Mad Uncanny X-men hardcover/omnibus in a second if you’re reading this Marvel, hint hint. The Gladiator Cannonball Christmas issue ❤. 🤞🏼😇

Omar for us trade collectors do you think Marvel will do more stealth reprints of older trades like King in black, Some of Spencer's run like Hunted is oop, Noir, Age of ultron etc?
I’m so confused by that Absolute Planetary Eye. I have seen it like yours but also have seen it with a nice round “bridge.” I feel like the glue gets through on some and gets the spine stuck to the casing? Idk but I have yet to buy it and REALLY want it. Just don’t know if I’ll get a copy with an eye or not….
How on Earth do people make oversized professional looking omnis like that x-men one? I've had custom binds made but nothing with a slick looking dust jacket and somehow oversized.
The guy who made this specific omnibus is currently on a hiatus, I haven't seen many people doing them as well as he does. There is a a group on facebook of people making custom omnis and they make wonderful stuff too.
I dunno, but I have one coming to me from an eBay seller. It's basically a Volume 2 of the Immortal Iron Fist Omni, i.e. the rest of the stuff in the expanded version that's coming out some time later this year or early next year. I think it even includes some extra stuff that won't be in that. It looks very official, so I'm excited to put it on the shelf next to me unexpanded Omni.
