I only really used my Wii U for a little over a year but damn that was enough for me to create beautiful memories and to feel nostalgia watching this. I became a Nintendo fan during that era so even though I didn't use the console for too long it left a big impact in me
the wii u was my first dedicated console experience after i became a conscious human being that wasn’t only 8 years old and only played the most popular wii games prior to the wii u release in 2012. being able to remember these game launches (the reveals and discussion about the games in addition to the literal launches showcased in this video) so vividly made me thankful to have experienced it while it was there. i was always aware about playstation’s and xbox’s releases but i can always look back on those with easily found information nowadays, compared to the wii u which all things considered commercially flopped while having same of the best games of the 2010s ‘trapped’ on the console lol. still hope xenoblade chronicles X makes it out 🙏
That drive sound effect was nostalgia in itself, Literally thought something was wrong with my Wii U when i fired it up LOL, Got so used to the switch's SSD being so quiet.
2:37 it's probably the one that makes me the most nostalgic, even tho I use to play other games on Wii U. Paper Mario Color Splash has somehow a very special place in my heart. I absolutly loved it when I first played it, but then, because I couldn't beat Bowser as a kid, I gave up and forgot the game. Last year, I thought about it and I decided to replay it. And wow. It was the exact same feelings as when I was younger. But while searching up for some content about this game, I discovered it was pretty unliked, because of its battle system. It made me sad. I still don't understand all the bad criticts this game get. The battle system didn't really bothered me ; and the rest of the game is very good. It's music especially, it's SO good, I keep listening to it sometimes to work. I want to give more credit to this game and also to the Wii U, which is a HUGE part of my childhood and teenagehood, and made me also discover Splatoon, which is my favorite game series of all time for now.
if you liked color splash i highly recommend the earlier entries like Paper Mario (the first one on N64 and Paper Mario the thousand year door! they're both dearly beloved games for a reason! really though if you ask me, i think its expectations, that made everyone hate it, people wanted something more akin to the first two games in the series (e.g. partners, badges, NPCs that aren't just toads, etc.) but instead they went with a wildly different formula which is... polarizing to say the least.
@@MoonMarshmallow thanks for the recommandations! I already thought about getting TTYD when it'll release on the switch. About the expected stuff, in particular the NPCs being Toads, from what I've seen it's because Nintendo restricted the studio which developpes the Paper Mario games, because they didn't appreciated that much how the developpers went free on various characters. They wanted to have something that stitches perfectly with the Mario brand, and it was getting too far away from it so they restricted.
Yeah, i also really liked paper msrio color splash! When i hear critics about the game, i'm like, "why does nobody like this game? It's a very good game!" And when i do it talks about the fact there is no experience points, and you can only use the card once, and here is what i think about it: There IS an experience system, it's the hammer scraps. When you finish a battle, you get some of them, at different tiers. Once you get an amount of them, you level up to more paint, much like experience system. And for the card one time use? I didn't mind it, i always had more than enough, even when i was fighting most enemies. So, i really like color splash, and i don't get why nobody does. PS: i don't like sticker star's final boss
There was a day on 2016, i woke up and started on the gamepad on the weekend to play something, i still remember some friends coming to my house and we played super Mario 3d world, Nintendo land and Mario kart 8, about the Nintendo switch rise things won't be exactly the same but we have to thank Nintendo to port those good memories and times that we laugh on the switch R.I.P Wii U 2012-2023 The same that made us laugh, now makes you cry -That GTA guy that i forgot his name
while i was watching this, i shed a tear. as a kid of the 2010's, this was so nostlagic to me. I still have my WiiU, and im pretty tempted to boot it up now. I can also play Wii games on it, which is a relief. I just have to dig it out.
Pretty cool how you included Breath of The Wild in here! I know a lot of people associate it with the Switch but I feel like a lot of people tend to forget or probably just don’t know that it started as a Wii U game
Wii u was pure love... so much quality game free online no dlc full and complete game... man I miss this era. Nintendoland, wii party u, mario kart, smash, splatoon, xenoblade chronicles x, bayonetta 2, mario 3d world, maker, .. so many games that were absolute banger
@@youbi8506 I understand you, I want to go back to the glorious time (2006 to 2016) that golden time for video games where developers really care about making fun games, balancing between graphics and gameplay, now everything is digital and lifeless, it takes me back to the Wii U era again
@@arthurgamerpro6585 there is still some love, some good games but yeah now games are mainly products... mostly focus on graphics or online instead of pure fun. Moreover, this focus on graphic is so bad because now the game will be more expensive to make + will take more time to make.
As someone who always wanted a Wii U as a kid but never got one, this is fascinating to watch. In another timeline, maybe this would be as nostalgic for me.
This made me feel so many emotions, lots of sad ones as I would do anything to go back to these days. When I reached the S+ rank in Splatoon, when I completed Paper Mario : Color Splash for the tenth time, when I played Smash Bros with seven cpus on the big Palutena temple for chaos, when me and my brothers would die of laughter on Wii Party U with that pictures taking game, when we were so hyped by 3D World, when I spent hours upgrading my house on Animal Crossing, when I would play Mario Party 10 for hours, because even tho people hated the car gimmick, I loved this game with all my heart, when I posted my first Mario Maker level, when me and my brothers would lose races on purpose on Mario Kart just to have fun with the big items, when I would drop my schoolbag as soon as I got home to play, and so much more. Thanks for everything Nintendo, my heroes
I have most of these games and they all have a special place in my heart. It’s so fun to go back to the Wii and WiiU once in a while! The BotW startup is so nostalgic.
@@enderbragen1659 it was originally meant to be a wii u exclusive and a planned 2015 release but then it kept getting delayed and as the switch was about to be released they decided to release it at the same time. I think they realised that this would significantly increase the switch's sales--and it did.
The wiiu was my childhood console… That imcredibly audible disc spinning and the little clicks before the wiiu startup jingle never fail to make me feel 10 years old sitting in the living room with the wiiu. The startups for Splatoon, 3D World, Smash, and SMM are all incredibly nostalgic for me aswell
Oh this is really cool, I’m glad someone put these all in a video. The Pikmin 3 one really hit me hard. Along with the Botw one. First time starting both those games up was such an experience
I don't see anyone talking about Color Splash. I remember playing the game up until the yellow toads on the stage in the beach where the key randomizes, which caused me to quit out of frustration. A year or two later I start up the game again, look up a guide, then completed the rest of it. 10/10, it wasn't perfect, but I got so many memeories and had a great time.
I still remember buying my Wii U back in early 2014. Still have the old thing even 10 years later. Splatoon, Mario Maker, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon Rumble U... So many games I obsessed over as a young child
@@Myrmiddonn That's right, because we're talking about a console that will be considered retro in the future, and it will also be considered a 2010s classic in 2030s.
0:45 this splash screen drives me insane, because I bought 3 copies of NSMBU+NSLU on disk (about $150) and they all came unplayable. One disk that worked the most got as far as this splash screen, and I waited for it to load as the music looped. Still wish I just bought the digital version.
Yeah sometimes the disks have permanent damage that makes it only stay on the splash screen. I bought Pikmin 3 second hand a few months ago and it had this issue (luckily I returned it and got a refund)
i miss so many of these, but the 3d world and new soup u ones were probably the ones that got me the most, since those were my first games for the system and probably the games i played the most. bless mario kart 8 deluxe for keeping the start!
Took as many pictures as i can for the search results of things i like, but for the ttyd chapters, "the great boggley tree" was one of the few whose results matched what i was thinking

the wii u was my first dedicated console experience after i became a conscious human being that wasn’t only 8 years old and only played the most popular wii games prior to the wii u release in 2012. being able to remember these game launches (the reveals and discussion about the games in addition to the literal launches showcased in this video) so vividly made me thankful to have experienced it while it was there. i was always aware about playstation’s and xbox’s releases but i can always look back on those with easily found information nowadays, compared to the wii u which all things considered commercially flopped while having same of the best games of the 2010s ‘trapped’ on the console lol. still hope xenoblade chronicles X makes it out 🙏
That drive sound effect was nostalgia in itself, Literally thought something was wrong with my Wii U when i fired it up LOL, Got so used to the switch's SSD being so quiet.
These little things alone have more personality than the switch it’s actually sad
Thanks for making this video! So much nostalgia!
The Wii U was fire. Even back then i didn't understand why people disliked it so much
2:37 it's probably the one that makes me the most nostalgic, even tho I use to play other games on Wii U.
It's a very good game!" And when i do it talks about the fact there is no experience points, and you can only use the card once, and here is what i think about it:
There IS an experience system, it's the hammer scraps.
RIP Wii U - 2012-2024
Honestly the mario maker splash would be an amazing switch startup
There was a day on 2016, i woke up and started on the gamepad on the weekend to play something, i still remember some friends coming to my house and we played super Mario 3d world, Nintendo land and Mario kart 8, about the Nintendo switch rise things won't be exactly the same but we have to thank Nintendo to port those good memories and times that we laugh on the switch
R.I.P Wii U 2012-2023
The same that made us laugh, now makes you cry

amen brother, i think the wii u is ending up like the gamecube
Wii U is basically GameCube or Dreamcast for 2010s kids
Nostalgia overload, thanks for making this video man.
while i was watching this, i shed a tear. as a kid of the 2010's, this was so nostlagic to me. I still have my WiiU, and im pretty tempted to boot it up now. I can also play Wii games on it, which is a relief. I just have to dig it out.
Do you think nostalgia for the 2010s and Wii U will be common in the 2030s? I hope so.
Man as someone who grew up with the Wii U, I never realized how much I loved these little touches. Thanks for the nostalgia, I appreciate it.
I completely agree!
Thought the beginning sound was my Wii U actually turning on, batted an eye for a sec and realized it was just the video when I saw the red light 😂
Loved these splash screens. The Yoshi’s Wooly World and Rainbow Curse ones hit like a truck. My game used to take a while to start.
Pretty cool how you included Breath of The Wild in here! I know a lot of people associate it with the Switch but I feel like a lot of people tend to forget or probably just don’t know that it started as a Wii U game
1:43 is such a goated song
that splatoon drum solo... hits so hard in the feels every time

The Wii U is a supervillain we figured it out
Wii u was pure love... so much quality game free online no dlc full and complete game... man I miss this era. Nintendoland, wii party u, mario kart, smash, splatoon, xenoblade chronicles x, bayonetta 2, mario 3d world, maker, .. so many games that were absolute banger
At that time, you just had to put in a disc and play (the famous plug and play), unlike today.
@@arthurgamerpro6585 I miss those days... online is so bad
Moreover, this focus on graphic is so bad because now the game will be more expensive to make + will take more time to make.
oh colour splash, one of my favourite games of all time

The most underated thing of the most underated console
I have so much nostalgia for Splatoon 1
3:34 bro what is this start up screen the developer knew what they were doing
Indeed😏
As someone who always wanted a Wii U as a kid but never got one, this is fascinating to watch. In another timeline, maybe this would be as nostalgic for me.
Man, this is why I still have my Wii U since 2015. Truly a great yet underrated console. 💙
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze was so nostalgic... of the game not saving and the lag switching between levels
I have most of these games and they all have a special place in my heart. It’s so fun to go back to the Wii and WiiU once in a while! The BotW startup is so nostalgic.
Rip miiverse we will miss you
I grew up playing the wii u. Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Land, and especially Super Mario 3D World were my favorites.
I honestly didn't know breath of the wild was on the Wii U. I thought it was a launch title for the switch.
It was a launch title for switch, but it also released for Wii u at the same time
It was but they added it to the wii U knowing that not alot of people have a switch

The startups for Splatoon, 3D World, Smash, and SMM are all incredibly nostalgic for me aswell
this is nostalgia

mario party 10 got me~
Oh this is really cool, I’m glad someone put these all in a video. The Pikmin 3 one really hit me hard. Along with the Botw one. First time starting both those games up was such an experience
0:25 *MARIO JUMPSCARE*
I don't see anyone talking about Color Splash. I remember playing the game up until the yellow toads on the stage in the beach where the key randomizes, which caused me to quit out of frustration. A year or two later I start up the game again, look up a guide, then completed the rest of it. 10/10, it wasn't perfect, but I got so many memeories and had a great time.
なつかしすぎる泣きそう
I still remember buying my Wii U back in early 2014. Still have the old thing even 10 years later.
Splatoon, Mario Maker, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon Rumble U... So many games I obsessed over as a young child
Imagine in 2034, your console still working even 20 years later, I think you would feel old
@@arthurgamerpro6585 I'll make sure it does, this old thing still has a ton of work to do and is an emulation beast
@@Spletz i got my disk on ebay 😔😔
The Mario Maker one gives me chills every time, i remember playing that game all the time back in early 2016-late 2017
2:58 The Best one yet ❤❤❤❤❤❤
i miss so many of these, but the 3d world and new soup u ones were probably the ones that got me the most, since those were my first games for the system and probably the games i played the most.
bless mario kart 8 deluxe for keeping the start!
Rest in peace, Wii U and 3DS online. It was fun 🥹
Omg you used the loading screenssss
MARIO 3D WORLDS 😭😭 0:36
The first game I played on the Wii U glad Nintendo cared about it enough to port it to switch
Que nostalgia diossss, buscare mi wii u para jugar unos cuantos juegos de nuevo, que hermosa consola que es la wii u
Most underrated console ever
Took as many pictures as i can for the search results of things i like, but for the ttyd chapters, "the great boggley tree" was one of the few whose results matched what i was thinking
Thank you for transporting me back to 2015 playing Splatoon 1 and watching TH-cam on the Gamepad
Miss those days
Man this hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Need to play my Wii U again sometime soon
1:20 Windows Startup Sound be like
I never had a Wii U, but I had a Wii. This was somehow still super nostalgic because the sounds I recognize from the switch, and the Wii noises
