That plug could also be disassembled for cleaning carbon from the porcelain insulator . Some of them were used in the hit& miss and the make & brake flywheel engines both to prime then for compression release . You’d prime it then crank it over fast and close the valve .

My dad told me about priming model t, never knew it was through the plug. I have one t ignition coil. They also had a car heater that used fuel vapors from the fuel tank. Through a thin copper bordon tube, to a metal box with a fine screen on the front. Light match you got heat...

Why don't we see thousands of 100 year old cars on the road?

    • @jusb1066

They did indeed made obsolete after 19 years, not a particularly long run for a model of car. Making things cheaply so it would need replacement isn't a particularly new idea

@@snakerstran9101 yes the copper electrode is one whole unit just like the main body. The primer cup can also screw off and i think the ceramic stays reason why it was like that back then is plugs were expensive and hard to make.

Wow i lol’d hard at the Paunch and John CHiPs! That’s what im gonna call my chips from now on. Great video. I had no idea they had came up with that primer idea for spark plugs. I screen shotted the instagram pics you had posted. I wonder if they ever had accidents with spilt fuel and fire under the hood. Ive seen ppl start a fire on the tops of manifolds, heat the fuel in the line, and then fuel spray from fitting because the fuel is expanding. And walla more fire! Lol That 100yr old plug ran perfect! Didnt miss a beat. And a nice blue spark. Amazing and alot of fun. I saw a guy once use your fuel tank idea to a snow sled once and spilt the fuel on a hot manifold that combusted, he dropped the can spilt the rest of the fuel out on his garage floor. He then panicked and before i could say no dont do that, threw a bucket of water on the engine and spread the fire in a flash across the whole floor! Almost burned his garage down. Did have to rebuild one corner though. Lol great show you guys, loved it! 👍🏼😎

It's a primer plug. Thay used them on the model t. Thay even used them on hit miss engines to you could. You can take the plug apart and clean it also. If you look at it it does come apart. But it will run better with the older spark plug wire on it. I don't know if you know that it's worth around $100.00. Just wanted to let you know. Thay maid different kinds of them. I use the old take apart spark plugs in my hit miss engines. Thay work better than the new one now.
