I was so pleased when you found the 1894! The gap there had been bothering me after you removed the 1938 because we had thought that line was complete when it wasn't. Thanks for the entertainment, Paul!
Another great video. Nice to see you adding to/improving your own collection in the Whitman folders. I agree with you that polished coins are horrible - polishing removes most of the history of the coin!
It's cold in the southern USA as well. The Guernsey issue is interesting. I do believe that I have an 8 doubles coin somewhere. That design was used as far back as 1830!
A fabulous condition 1879 upgrade for your album CP and in turn for the board also. Nice 1962 upgrade also for the album 😊. Loved that 8 doubles. Great to finish the hunt with s Smiffy bingo line 😊

Hi Paul, You missed the Heaton mint mark below the wreath on the 1949 8 Doubles, most of that series were made in Heaton, although the mint mark is weak and almost looks like II. Cheers!

Love these videos ... since I started watching your channel I have been on the search for the old pennies, I've had some passed down to me from my Grandma and have been lucky enough to find some at my local coin shop 🇨🇦. Don't have many but am working on a bit of a date run so these videos got me hooked for sure 👍🏻.
Even though I know it doesn't exactly go like that I always hope that there'll be this perfect transition from smooth and rubbed to detailed and shiny.
two more new pennies for the hunt but i felt the star coin was the 8 doubles from Guernsey (Minted in Birmingham)... not a valuable coin but a smaller mintage that the 1950 GB penny so a nice coin for someone to win

Yes, Victoria's portrait has been subtlety changed quite a few times on the bronze coins, but all the obverses before the Veil Head (Old Head) I refer to as Young Head. Michael J Freeman's book, Bronze Coinage of Great Britain also refers to just Young and Old Head.

Have look at history.g./guernsey-adopts-sterling-currency/.
If I were you I would keep the 8 Doubles! A date run of lrish pennies would be fun to add also 👍

I reckon that 1938 has been hit with a pellet gun. We used to line pennies up to shoot at them as kids. it looks similar. Another good video

Great hunt again, Did you check the 1864 for the two varieties of 4? Crosslet 4 - tail of 4 T-shaped and Plain 4 - tail of 4 has a single serif.
