I feel like I get in my own way mentally. I got beat up a lot when I was younger and it stuck with me. Is there some advice or a recommendation you would give to get past that block. I feel like I'm sabotaging myself out of fear I will feel like that again in my jiu-jitsu journey.
I want you to imagine what if you became 1% better every day? How much stronger would you be in 1 year? You would be 37 X better! Don’t let bullies continue in your mind. I have met people that used to bully me when I was young but I never felt the need to hurt them. It’s all a journey and I hope you continue
I had a similar issue Daniel, Best thing i ever did was join a Muay Thai gym and once i got into the intermediates, just do a tonne of sparring with different people, different sizes etc. That initial reaction you get to jerk away when someone punches you for example, you can learn to control that and respond effectively. I can tell you from personal experience that it’s helped my confidence allot and just as Mr Lister has said, once you have that confidence I don’t even think you’ll even want to hurt these people should you meet them again. Lets just say that if they haven’t been training, they’re going to have a rough time with you, that’s for sure. Good luck on your journey brother.
Jerry Matsumoto. I’ve read a few articles about him, and he sounds like a very good person.
Thank you for watching.
