I would have put the shelves on the wall above the desk and put the acrylic board on the end wall where I could reach it to make notes or add samples. I definitely like the second rug the best with those colors.
@@thoselittlehands5388 he said to put the acrylic board on the END wall, meaning the wall on her right if she is seating in her desk. She is also gonna hit herself in the head with that shelf above her seat.
I gasped when I saw that chair. It looks so uncomfortable. I was so glad when I heard her other chair will actually be there and that one is extra. Also, personally I would have put the acrylic on the wall to the right. I’d get frustrated if I had to keep standing up to jot down a note, otherwise it’s a neat idea. Love the wall and the larger rug
As much as I like the Alex cabinet separating the space from the other room, I also find that it reduces lighting in the nook. I think a floor lamp or a table lamp to the right of the room would be needed in order to light her face during the many video calls she will need to do. Perhaps if the shelf had been above her desk, a lighting solution there could have helped with that. It’s definitely a tricky space!
I would put two shelves above the desk where I couldn't bang my head on them. I also would have put the dry erase board on the end wall, at a height that would be easy for me to jot down notes while seated. Like the accent wall color, desk and cabinet. I would definitely choose the larger, darker rug.
It looks fine there, I thought. I mean, if it's reachable for the client. You won't brush against it there, smudging the notes before you can photograph them.

I just painted over ALL the grey in my home I purchased in July...within three days of moving in I knew I couldn’t stay without a sunnier color. Every room was grey.
I personally would have maybe utilised the back wall to build in a wall to wall desk and overhead wall to wall shelves and maybe even add the filing cabinets instead of actual legs on both sides for extra storage? And bc her business involves cloth samples, maybe a clothing rack would’ve come in handy as well?
I’m a plant lover and it’s true, scientists in Japan proved that plants make you more productive!! That’s why a Looooot of new offices in Tokyo have plants and living walls🥰🙌🌱
But as a plant lover you also know that they need light to thrive. This is a very dark nook. Only faux plants should be put there. These plants will die soon if left where Alexandra placed them.
@@walle5667 some low light tolerant plants might survive in there (not sure the amount of light), but definitely not the ones she chose. Using dried plants like eucalyptus or olive branches or even pampas grass is another way to bring plants to a dark corner.
Beautiful tranformation but I agree with others when they said the acrylic board would probably work better on the end wall and a little lower. I'm 5'9" with long arms and there's no way I could reach that comfortably with the computer screen and desk in front of it. Other than that I love the rug and the paint color and the plants. You did a great job.

Yes! I thought the same about the chair. I feel like in this kind of videos (not Alexandra's per se but other makeovers I've seen), many people overlook the tremendous importance of a good office chair and sacrifice comfort and durability for style. I love your suggestion for Alexandra to tackle that challenge!

Well done. Nice Zen vibe in that office with the gray/white/black. Love the acrylic board. I think I'll be getting one of those. I vote for the second rug, but if I were choosing I might look for strong diagonal lines to visually enlarge the space. But that's a minor quibble and not strictly necessary.
Hi Alexandra! I been working from home for 5 years now and from experience a drawer in the desk is needed. The other thing i will have done differently is to install multiple shelves in the narrow wall only. Love the color of the accent wall and the lamp is beautiful. 😉
I love BOTH rugs (&, incidentally, YOUR pedestal bowl that is no longer white but now LAVENDAR...SO MUCH BETTER!) and you really couldn’t go wrong with either one but I do like your rationale for filling the space out. The new desk feels spacious and expansive, the new tower o’ drawers gives her room to soar. So great! I’m a little concerned that the dark grey background will not be much contrast to her black hair on Zoom calls but now I see her logo is that color so she will just have to get some great lighting for video. I wish there were some more colorful touches of her sample fabrics, vision board pics, inspirational images of everyday heroes, etc. but she can add all that. I know her products and the people she is serving will bring most of the color and pattern. So excited for them!

You could have done a floor to sealing storage on the back wall. Ikea has a ton of different closet and bookshelf frames. Now the space feels super cramped and awkward and she still doesn't have much storage in it.
I like the furnitures but yeah I agree, she shouldn't have done the L shelf... Better to put 2 rows of shelves on the side wall only and kept the back wall bare.... it looks cramped and the acrylic should've on the back wall and can also be used as a board while she's teaching so a lighter accent colour would've been nicer too like sky blue or sage~

The 2nd rug was the best choice, for sure. Love your channel. I'm Cuban and I live in Beijing, so happy to tell you your ideas reach out people all over the world 🥰.
The larger rug is best. Love the dark grey wall that matches the logo colour. The l shaped shelf is a good idea but doesnt work in the space, as others have said, the space is too small for this shelf and you could bump your head. I would put it over the desk and the work board to the side a bit, not directly behind the computer. I live in a small space and this kind of nook is a tough one to do without living there.
Like many of these commenters, I agree the shelves should have been put either above the computer or on the wall to the right when she sits down. I would be constantly hunching expecting to get a head knocked or a shoulder ripped with the shelves where they are. Also, hard to reach that acrylic, elsewhere. The big desk is a plus, why not put it on top of two filing cabinets for more storage? I'm afraid those plants won't live in that corner, also, who doesn't spill water when watering plants? Then by by to those books. Come on, Alexandra, you can do better.

Hey Alexandra. I know nothing about design except for what I learned from you, so feel free to disregard my comment. What I do know is teaching from home through Zoom and I think it would better if the chair face the light, meaning the accent wall would be the one in the bottom not the one in the side, because of the same thing I wouldn't paint it grey, I'd have paint it in a lighter color, because again... Students need to see your face and it's hard to do it in thr dark. I also agree that the board behind de desk isn't convenient at all, she has to stand up to write. Looks amazing Alexandra and yes the darker rug was the way to go 💜
These small nook makeovers have been so incredibly helpful and inspirational! Just finishing up making over a space in my tiny living room for a hidden office (think: desk that I can turn against the wall when not in use to hide the office stuff while still giving me room for hobby work).
If I was to start a business, I would start a consulting business helping other write manuals for their business, or helping them write things like product disclaimers. That kind of writing is fun for me, and it's been fun to help my other friends start their own small businesses!
Love this channel, I love how you slightly rearrange things, and bring in just enough new life to make space work....without breaking bank.
Hey Alexandria, psych papers have shown plants make us happy which makes us more productive! Biophilia is the human desire to be around nature - it led to the creation of Biophilic Design. Having plants in a workspace is great!!
Second rug looks much better! Good choice!
2nd rug was a good choice, for sure! I love how this turned out. Great job!
Wow, I love this space!! Great changes/additions but the accent wall is AMAZING!!
Love it. Definitely the second rug. Always enjoy your videos.
I always look forward to watching your uploads!
The Brooklyn Crafty Cat....a charitable business that helps generate both cash and enrichment supplies for animal rescues. I have my pet accessories (beds, toys etc.) and pet inspired hand made jewelry and other items for their parents that love them.
2nd rug for sure was bigger and match the the accent wall really nice!!
Love the darker rug!
2nd rug looks the best! Nice colors great job!
The second rug was the best.
I love the second rug.
It doesn’t look like you have created enough storage for her stuff
Loved the darker colors in the second rug you chose and the desk solution. 👍🏾👍🏾
That acrylic board is not going to work for swatches. Washi tape will not keep the fabric up. The cork board was a better fit for her needs
