I've got the computer for about a week and I am with you on the keyboard, Love it! For all of you that is looking for a notebook buy this, it does the job!
Best to check with an optus store, but I *THINK* the 7.2mbps hardware is only in Melbourne and Sydney right now, 3.2mbps here in bris, as far as I know.
i love you're reviews! you do it in a nice tone with a pinch of humor in it to keep you from clicking away. i can't w8 for some game reviews (-.- yes i am addicted)
It comes with 1GB, which *is* enough for the relatively light duties of a netbook, I faced NO slowdown or chugging due to swapfile activity etc... but of course if you require more for whatever reason, you can upgrade easily.
I didn't say it was "glamorous" I said it was the most usable on any netbook I've used (and I've had a bash at many)... which is FAR more important than it being "glamorous"
My father has one of these (bar the 3G modem) And it's fantastic piece of road kit, I have used it on the road a couple of times myself when I've been away as I didn't fancy taking my MacBook with me and it's hands down the best netbook I have ever used! So good in fact I'm putting some money aside to go out and buy one shortly.
I love how you say that you can just load and play, and not have to wait for it to buffer... But in the initial part of the video where you actually do load and play it, it lags like hell from buffering :D
It's not SUPPOSED to be a powerhouse, it's supposed to be highly mobile and very power efficient.... that's the whole point of the "netbook" type devices. and you'll find the specs here are very common amongst other netbooks currently on the market.
been using the NC10 since decembre, fantastic little netbok, ended up replacing my laptop for most stuff, and at a push, managed to get 9 1/2 hours out of it - and you do get used to the touchpad, great bit of kit
you should definately get one blunty, i've had mine for about a month now and love every second i've used mine. I too get a little tetchy when mine collects finger prints, shoulda bought a white one, oh well. Still a great product for what you said plus a little bit of light gaming, emulation or anything light on processing power
My laptop, the one I'm using to do this, has had the screen fall off. There's nothing but a wire holding the top, to the lap part. How did I brake it? I dropped it, then a year later, I sneezed while it was on my lap and it fell apart.
so i suppose the Optus 7.2mbits/s speed is only in the big cities? all well im my area in queensland the Tower that Telstra owns has that 21Mbits/s technology on it but i was told only expect 550Kbits/s - 8Mbits/s speeds.
No, what CrazyManv2 was saying was using metric units for weight and standard units, which the USA uses, for screen size sound contradicting since they are contrary to each other. I doubt anyone says the screen size is 25.9 centimeters or converts any screen size to a metric unit for that matter.
i recently got a netbook from DELL though and not based on a phone plan the touch pad is definitely more neat than that one it's larger and it has incorporated apple-like features for scrolling, zooming, etc. wasn't too much either i'm liking it pretty well so far :)
wish i had awesome stuff like you like consoles and laptops and all sort of gadgetry. So dont complain man all i have is this pc im typing on and a 5 year old cell phone.
Jeez dude, just google it. These vid's are seen ALL over the world, and aren't "aired" at a specific time etc, it's POINTLESS and inevitably inaccurate to quote retail prices in them. in the time it took to ASK here, you could have answered your own question with a simple search on google.
Hey Blunty, the white version of the NC10 has a matte finish so it doesn't pick up greasy prints and marks! =) Also, I have an NC10 and the touch pad can be bothersome if you've got big hands but it's either that or they ruin the perfect keyboard ;)
I really don't understand how you can stream youtube smoothly . I had a Asus 1000HA with exactly the same specs..and it stutters badly when trying to stream videos. On top of that it ran on Wi-Fi 54 mbps..compared to your 3G 7 mbps.Even if it's updated drivers...it just doesn't compute. The NC10 is probably the best netbook hardware wise I give you that.
I recently boaght a Netbook from Packard Bell. A Dot m Series one. It is pretty good too. Super screen, Vista, keyboard not too small, fast too and and the usual other stuff. Maybe you should try that one too!
I might get this. The iPad made me release I need something portable but bigger than my iPod Touch though it's utter crap. 3g is a must IMO, otherwise you have to be at home or at starbucks for internet. Although I liked this foldable netbook tablet that had a touchscreen, I need more than just wifi. Any touch screens, tablets, or umpcs? with 3g or other sim card ready netbooks? Maybe I can put a screen in this.
...me too..i generally hate netbooks, because they're too damn small for me. Ill keep my big ole 17" HP laptop. i marked hard for the Johnny shirt though. good review. as always. can't wait for that nice little Samsung Omnia HD review you teased us with.
ohhhh, makes sense why you said, "he's australian". Thank you for your reply as to the metric system being standard as I had learned the following. The US customary system is historically derived from units which were in use in England at the time of settlement. the US was independent at the time so these units were unaffected. US customary units are still the main system of measurement used in the United States despite Congress having legally authorized metric measure on July 28,1866.
when i was buying a new laptop recentely i lookd at this but decided on the mac book pro mostly becase it cn hold more ram and run final cut pro, just thought id through that out there lol
boradband? For someone SERIOUSLY considering buying this I'd suggest looking at the asus 1005ha, Make sure you get the right sub-model, usually the cheaper one (oddly) has a longer battery life and 1.3 embedded webcam rather than 0.3 on the other... It's the one I have and it really is SOOO GOOD the battery life is ridiculously good genuinely 9hours plus :D
Its so sad that i was more excited that you were wearing a JTHM T-Shirt in the review than the notebook... sorry Blunty my inner comic geek got the better of me. Nice review though... will have a look out for one of those little buggers.
It looks nice for a netbook, but I'm guessing all that crapware (McAfee) came with it? I don't like it when companies do that. I always reinstall my OS from scratch when I buy a new computer. Makes it seem fresher :)
Agreed, why would you need more than 1GB of RAM when all its meant to do is surf the interwebs? If you want something more powerful for games or whatever, then go for those models
If this is the second time I've slammed you for a stupid comment, perhaps you should start THINKING before making comments? or at least WATCH THE WHOLE FUCKING VID for a start.
I am not sure..,but I think it's not close to as slow as 7mbps.Websites and such load very fast,so it can't be that bad. Netbooks are notorious for it's weak video, that's why I sold mine.Avoid them if you intend to watch alot of vids.
I've got the computer for about a week and I am with you on the keyboard, Love it! For all of you that is looking for a notebook buy this, it does the job!

Netbooks are handy. Seemed to have a solid connection to the net aswell and the battery life is a plus. Nice review. Love your work. Keep it up.
I love how you say that you can just load and play, and not have to wait for it to buffer...
But in the initial part of the video where you actually do load and play it, it lags like hell from buffering :D
Uh... what? dude try watching the vid before commenting, i specifically mentioned the Ethernet port, there's even a fracking CLOSE UP of it!
The one from Bond, or the one from Trek? ;)
It's not SUPPOSED to be a powerhouse, it's supposed to be highly mobile and very power efficient.... that's the whole point of the "netbook" type devices. and you'll find the specs here are very common amongst other netbooks currently on the market.

i love your videos dude i hope u keep making em
Hows it stack up compared to the MacBook? You still prefer the Samsung keyboard? I think the MacBook's keyboard is the best compared to most laptops.
Blunty, you like AVGN? Or did you just pick a random video? Because Board James is made by the same guy. Just wondering...
I like the Acer's too, nice machines.
I don't often take much interest in the gadgets you promote, but this one seems pretty cool. I need a new laptop anyway
you should definately get one blunty, i've had mine for about a month now and love every second i've used mine.
I too get a little tetchy when mine collects finger prints, shoulda bought a white one, oh well.
Still a great product for what you said plus a little bit of light gaming, emulation or anything light on processing power
0:40 Boradband Modem? You usually manage to catch yourself with that kind of thing Blunty! Tired?
Did you get the iPod nano sent for you to review or did you actually buy it?
Great review I actually really want to get one for my trip and my many other vacations! Not to mention 7 hour car rides!
nice netbook , nice review, blunty quality as always ;)
Very nice!
but the keyboard is not the most glamorous keyboard out there.
supprised it made by samsung.
is it only optus or with voda/telstra ect?
Only 5 from my last 15 vids are reviews... you tell me *HEADDESK*
My laptop, the one I'm using to do this, has had the screen fall off. There's nothing but a wire holding the top, to the lap part. How did I brake it? I dropped it, then a year later, I sneezed while it was on my lap and it fell apart.
Sure is.
Hey it's great. but, can we insert a 3g sim directly in it?
so i suppose the Optus 7.2mbits/s speed is only in the big cities? all well im my area in queensland the Tower that Telstra owns has that 21Mbits/s technology on it but i was told only expect 550Kbits/s - 8Mbits/s speeds.

but where to insert ur SIM card in ?
Whys there no dvd port thing?
i recently got a netbook

and not based on a phone plan
the touch pad is definitely more neat than that one
it's larger and it has incorporated apple-like features for scrolling, zooming, etc.
wasn't too much either
i'm liking it pretty well so far :)
This seemed more like an optus ad than a product review.
was 54 your network or connection cause im betting its your network speed. laptops tend to lie
1gb ram?
1.66 ghz?
sort of weak don't you think?
Do all models have 3g?
O_O i think my search for a new comp has come to an end..
wish i had awesome stuff like you like consoles and laptops and all sort of gadgetry. So dont complain man all i have is this pc im typing on and a 5 year old cell phone.
Just so you know, this doesn't do laptop stuff. It's a little sluggish at running some programs you might use all the time.
Very cool. I have been looking at netbooks etc. lately. I guess I will look harder at Samsung offerings than I had been. =)
- Heidi
JAMES ROLF - absolute legend!!!
A Macbook PRO and a tiny 10 inch netbook are chalk and cheese dude, they suit very different purposes of use.
How much is the 3g?
Jeez dude, just google it. These vid's are seen ALL over the world, and aren't "aired" at a specific time etc, it's POINTLESS and inevitably inaccurate to quote retail prices in them. in the time it took to ASK here, you could have answered your own question with a simple search on google.
ya it was kinda a decision on if i wanted a hard core editing laptop of if id leave that to my desk top and get lighter web sufing type laptop
a boradband adapter?
so getting it!
Intel Atom N270 is 1.60 ghz, not 1.66ghz
My wife has one, it is great, lovely little gadget, she has upgraded hers to 2GB of Ram, which is worth it. Great for on the go.

very nice job on the review
What a jolly "Catch you next time!"
Also, I really want the i8910 HD =] I spotted it in an Orange store and fell in love ^_^

wait... u don't need an internet service to go online?
plz prove me wrong
I might get this. The iPad made me release I need something portable but bigger than my iPod Touch though it's utter crap.

*HEADESK* why don't people watch the whole video before asking questions? WHYYYY?
Nice typo in the specs :)
when i was buying a new laptop recentely i lookd at this but decided on the mac book pro mostly becase it cn hold more ram and run final cut pro, just thought id through that out there lol

That's because it's NOT a "standard laptop" it's a NETBOOK. dingus.
Do what I do with my own netbook... keep a lens cloth in the case. heh.
its more the other way around, many countries import into the US and to make things easy and cheap they use inches as a standard
knocks and bingles?
yes you do review tech specks.
*facepalm* no I'm not "hired as a reviewer" I don't take cash for comment like some other youtubers. Never have never will.
You're confusing 802.11G wifi and 3G broadband, they are utterly different things. noob
Its so sad that i was more excited that you were wearing a JTHM T-Shirt in the review than the notebook... sorry Blunty my inner comic geek got the better of me.

do some more game reviews
hmm shrink the touch pad or keyboard.
yeah im going keyboard too espeshally since the market has people using them for typeing mostly.
thats preety cool. lolz i dont even have a laptop. epicfail there on my part.
blunty, when are you going back to your stop motion it is amasing.
out of all that explaining u did man, i only cared for 7.2 Mbps net connection, and a power button on the side
you do get money for reviews, right?
Wow. That does actually looks good.
Plus you was watching a Cinamassica video on youtube (as well as yours)
Other then that, very tempting. ^_^
Hmm, i always find it sad when Netbooks have more usb slots than my 13" Dell XPS -_-
awesome JTHM shirt!
it says 50$ for a year or 70$ for two.
I can wait for a Super Powered Netbook
obviously itll be better but think about the comparison in price. not everyone can afford a macbook
Agreed, why would you need more than 1GB of RAM when all its meant to do is surf the interwebs? If you want something more powerful for games or whatever, then go for those models
Hey Board James!
If this is the second time I've slammed you for a stupid comment, perhaps you should start THINKING before making comments? or at least WATCH THE WHOLE FUCKING VID for a start.
Blunty using Windows!? Not really a sight too often seen. xD
The stats on it are not realy up to date a standard laptop know should have atleast 3G ram
i like the johnny the homicidal maniac shirt
What's the best thing you've got to keep from reviewing? :)
really hate those fingerprint magnet finish
Nice, I've always liked samsung.
Wow, it's faster than MY connnection. Then again, I'm on Wi-Fi
I am not sure..,but I think it's not close to as slow as 7mbps.Websites and such load very fast,so it can't be that bad. Netbooks are notorious for it's weak video, that's why I sold mine.Avoid them if you intend to watch alot of vids.
Try listening to the first 30 seconds of that video and see if you can figure it out *facepalm*
well, maybe it's because im used to my Desk top ^^
I'll probably give it a try when... I don't know lol
1:27 Cinemassacre FTW :)
'boradband'?
seems to be good for the on the go joe, but not so much for a run around gamer :P
I was given this laptop in year 5 by my school and it was so slow
