काफिर कोट पाकिस्तान के डेरा इस्माइल खान जिले में स्थित एक पुरातत्व स्थल है जिसे सांस्कृतिक विरासत का दर्जा दिया गया है।
सिंधु नदी का अधिकांश हिस्सा तलहटी में है। इन पहाड़ियों के शीर्ष पर प्राचीन किलों, सिंधु नदी के किनारे पूजा स्थलों और बर्बाद बस्तियों के अवशेष हैं। डेरा इस्माइल खान के उत्तर में माउंट खैसुर की चोटी पर स्थित है, इसी तरह के स्मारक कफ्रकोट के नाम से जाने जाते हैं। कुर्रम और सिंधु नदियाँ कुछ मील की दूरी पर मिलती हैं। एक बार, कफ़रकोट के पहाड़ों के नीचे सिंधु नदी बहती थी। पहाड़ के पूर्व में एक जलमार्ग है जिस पर ये खंडहर स्थित हैं। आज, कफ्रकोट के खंडहर खंडहर नुकीले पत्थरों और कंटीली झाड़ियों से ढके हैं। एक पहाड़ की चोटी पर होने के कारण, ये पुरा तत्व स्थल अभी भी संरक्षित हैं। हर जगह सन्नाटा है। मुसलमान इस किले को काफिरकोट कहते हैं जबकि हिंदू इसे राजा बिल का किला कहते हैं। इन मंदिरों की संख्या लगभग सात है। सुंदर नक्काशीदार पत्थरों से निर्मित, ये मंदिर अतीत में शानदार थे, उनकी महानता की गवाही देते हैं। । कफ्रकोट के किले के अंदर भी पानी का एक कुंड था। तालाब के चारों ओर पूजा के लिए मंदिर भी थे। महलों और दीवारों के अवशेष आज भी मौजूद हैं। बड़ा मंदिर बाईं ओर है, बीच में एक रास्ता है जो बड़ी इमारत का हिस्सा है। जेल के निशान भी मिले हैं। कफ्रकोट के खंडहर तीन तरफ ऊंचे पहाड़ों और गहरी नहरों से, और एक जलमार्ग द्वारा पूर्व में फहराए जाते हैं। अतीत में, किलों और शासकों के महल पहाड़ों पर दुश्मनों और आक्रमणकारियों से बचाने के लिए बनाए गए थे।کافر کوٹ پاکستان کے ضلع ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان میں واقع ایک آثار قدیمہ کا مقام ہے جس کو ثقافتی ورثے کا درجہ دیا گیا ہے۔
دریائے سندھ کا بیشتر حصہ پہاڑوں کے دامن میں ہے۔ ان پہاڑیوں کی چوٹیوں پر دریائے سندھ کے کنارے قدیمی قلعے، عبادت گاہیں اور تباہ شدہ بستیوں کے آثار ملتے ہیں۔ ایسے ہی آثار ڈیرہ اسماعیل خاں شہر سے شمال کی طرف خیسور پہاڑ کی چوٹی پر جو کافرکوٹ کے نام سے مشہور ہے، واقع ہیں۔ یہاں سے چند میل کے فاصلے پر دریائے کرم اور سندھ آپس میں ملتے ہیں۔ کسی زمانے میں دریائے سندھ کافرکوٹ کے پہاڑوں کے نیچے بہتا تھا۔ جس پہاڑ پر یہ کھنڈر ہیں اس کے مشرق کی جانب آبی گزرگاہ ہے۔ آج کافرکوٹ کے تباہ شدہ کھنڈر کو نوکیلے تراشیدہ پتھروں اور خاردار جھاڑیوں نے لپیٹ میں لے رکھا ہے۔ پہاڑوں کی چوٹی پر ہونے کی وجہ سے یہ آثارِ قدیمہ ابھی تک محفوظ ہیں۔ ہر طرف خاموشی ہی خاموشی ہے۔ مسلمان اس قلعہ کو کافرکوٹ کے نام سے پکارتے ہیں جبکہ ہندو اسے راجا بل کا قلعہ کہتے تھے۔ ان مندروں کی تعداد سات کے لگ بھگ ہے۔ خوبصورت تراشیدہ پتھروں سے تعمیر کیے گئے یہ مندر ماضی میں بہت خوبصورت شاندار تھے جو عظمت رفتہ کی شہادت دیتے ہیں۔ ۔ کافرکوٹ کے قلعہ کے اندر پانی کا تالاب بھی تھا بارش کا پانی تالاب میں اکٹھا ہو جاتا تھا۔ تالاب کے گرد و نواح پوجا پاٹ کے لیے مندر بھی تھے۔ محلات اور فصیل کے آثار آج بھی موجود ہیں۔ بڑا مندر بائیں ہاتھ پر ہے، درمیان میں راستہ ہے جو بڑی عمارت کا حصہ ہیں۔ جیل خانے کے آثار بھی پائے جاتے ہیں۔ کافرکوٹ کے کھنڈر کے تین اطراف بلند و بالا پہاڑ اور گہری کھائیاں ہیں جبکہ مشرق کی طرف آبی گزرگاہ ہے۔ ماضی میں قلعے یا حکمرانوں کے محل پہاڑوں پر تعمیر کیے جاتے تاکہ وہ دشمنوں اور حملہ آوروں سے محفوظ رہ سکیں۔Kafir Kot Pashto: کافر کوټ; also spelt Kafirkot) are ancient ruins of Hindu temples located in Dera Ismail Khan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the cities of Mianwali and Kundian, in Punjab, Pakistan. Kafir Kot consists of the ruins of 5 temples, and the ruins of a large fort protecting the site. Kafir Kot is often referred to as "Northern Kafir Kot," with the "Southern Kafir Kot" located in the city of Bilot, 35 kilometres to the south.According to the District Gazetteer of Mianwali:
“ These forts are of great antiquity and interest. Their main features are an outer defensive wall, consisting of rough blocks of stone, some of great size, and various groups of buildings resembling small Hindu temples and more or less carved. These are built of a curiously honey-combed drab-coloured stone not to be found in the adjacent hills, which is said to have been brought by river all the way from Khushalgarh. The area of the forts is considerable and they could have held a fairly large garrison. The only legends attached to them relate that they were occupied by the last of the Hindu Rajas, Til and Bil; but all traces of rulers and ruled are now lost

Eventually the carriers close to present border transformed to Buddhism. This Buddhism created up to South Korea crossing China and other allied regions.
