They phased out kjet on US 240s by 82 for NA cars and 85 for the turbo 240s, but kjet was used in 240s in other parts of the world well into the end of the 240 production run

Need a part 2! Found an '83 GLT with the kjet that I might buy but we couldn't get it running today. This video was awesome and I'm glad I found your channel. The car I'm looking at is a turbo so it looks like there are some differences but this was a great!

Adorable kids! Thanks for this video. I just bought a k-jet car. I can get it to run after LOTS of cranking, but she’ll stall out, and generally runs rough. I just changed the fuel filter, rotor, cap, wires, and plugs. The old plugs were quite black and smelled of varnish. This car sat for about 20 years. I’m going to assume the k-jet isn’t closing all the way, so it’s running very rich- making it hard to start. I’m also looking at going to LH, but I’m going to disassemble the k-jet first and clean it well.

I decided to try the chemical route for my k-jet car (sitting for 20 years). Put in 3 cans of SeaFoam, a tank full of premium, some concentrated fuel injector cleaner, and another bottle of some kind of miracle cleaner. Basically, this tank should now be full of jet fuel. Now the car runs, and runs pretty well! I got very lucky here I think. Eventually I will still dismantle the system and clean things properly, but this is a huge win so far.

Hopefully you can get it up and going. I love my 1980 245 with K-jet, only because it works. It seems a bit tricky to diagnose but doable.

    What’s the upgraded injection system?

    • @240rescue

Upgrade would be LH2 or LH2.2 efi

Great video! It's cool to learn about the k-jet system! I had a 79 242GT I made a few videos of before running it on a Lemons Rally. I'm thankful I didn't have to learn k-jet by fire, but should I ever pick up another. I'm definitely a bit smarter now!
My 83 245 has a b21A and it looks oddly similar but wildly different!
Can't wait for the next part!

82 non turbo is especially pesky, most of the us models were b21-mpg so they had the kjet plus the Chrysler ignition, the last two 82s I had, I just converted to lh2.2
