From my point of view, the "cost structure" is different.
In Spain housing is the main cost you need to cover, what is the hardest if you live alone, while the food is sometimes cheaper then in Hungary, but even though if it's more expensive sometimes, the general quality is way better, so you never feel like "it was not worth it". Renting is a horror alone, especially closer to the sea and if your income is not from Spanish employment (if you work for a foreign company or if you have your own enterprise), however buying would cost about the same, but there are myriads of aspect to calculate with when it comes to housing...
And what I really love in Spain that the costs in the Spanish local shops are not so different compared to the supermarkets. So, it's easy to support the Spanish economy with buying only Spanish things. (And often the price of Spanish consumables are cheaper than the global brands.)
And if you look for the "family packs" and you can cook, then you can save a lot of money on food while eating fantasic foods and you can afford to eat out more frequently. And also, cooking at home is more beneficial if you are not alone.
Long story short, to live well you need to pay attention to the "cost per capita" and not the actual cost of this and that. (But this is only my personal opinion.)
For example, the mandatory technical inspection for my Toyota was at almost the same price as here in Hungary (EUR 350). And I think the gas is a bit cheaper too (Benzin 98 - EUR 1,70-1,80 in Spain, it's ballpark the same in Hungary).

Housing pricing went "loco" in Spain since Covid19. In many parts of the country the prices went even 2-3 times compared to before Covid. If you are not looking for the tourist heavy locations, it is fine, prices went only a bit up, even lower compared to inflation.

@@MadalinIgnisca My experience is that (understandably) the good deals are sealed off from foreigners as there is a large "shadow inventory" (houses for sale not appearing on the market) which is only accessible if you know the owner personally for whom there's no pressure to sell.
I think with time the significance of the good buyer's agent will grow to find an equilibrium both for the natives and for those who do not want to buy real estate for "investment reasons" (which is a cancer in my opinion).

Los precios de comida en el supermercado y restaurantes están parecidos al precios en EEUU (pero en gran ciudades precios están más caros).
Precios de casas y pisos varían mucho en EEUU según ubicación. Por ejemplo, casas en California están tan caras que no entiendo como alguien puede comprarlas. Por cierto, me gustaría tener un auténtico restaurante español en mi ciudad. Tal vez tengo que viajar a España...
