- This has got to be my most straight forward challenge run ever- literally. The amount of time I had to spend just walking forward through parts of the game multiple times was the hardest part lol.

I think chase scenes that forces you to be slow to avoid detection as the creature looks for you are the most terrifying.
Alien is a good example of this I think
Yeah, even worse is that with Alien the AI learns what you do over time so you need to be constantly inventing new strategies to not die

35:12, I'm guessing you didn't notice that the last time when you got over a too tall obstruction, it was because you can overcome obstacles more easily when walking backwards?
I'm pretty sure it's a safety feature so that you're less likely to get stuck when trying to kite an enemy without looking, by letting your character walk over stuff in your way without seeing it when running backwards.
He did try walking backwards tho, and it didn't work. Several times in fact. That one just couldn't be avoided.

I love that this is a staple of Spiff’s gameplay. It says a lot about a game with jumping and run mechanics that aren’t needed.
Sure, but a lot of the time that's just for convenience. Most games don't need running but it would be miserable without it

Even if the videos are "boring", long form content like this is good for background stuff where I'm not as worried about looking at the video because you have a lot of good stories to tell. That's why Pizzeria Sim is probably some of your most watched content, and why I like the Dark Deception video so much.

It really depends on how well constructed it is. If there is a great buildup and it's not just thrown at you with no explanation as to why, it makes for a great chase scene.
Little nightmares I'd say would be a good example of really good chase scenes

On the speedrunner piss talk, im pretty sure adrenaline makes it so it is easier to hold it in. At least in my experience I never notice I need to pee when I am in the zone, its only after I leave it for a minute because a good run finishes or I get bored and suddenly posseiden decides to set up residence in my bladder and spend his free time sloshing the container of piss in my body around, I usually run to the bathroom before I pee myself.
Yo, been a while since you posted this, but I thought I'd say this: It's probably the fact that you're in the zone and less that you've got a ton of adrenaline. When I'm doing something very zen and laid-back that still requires the analytical part of my brain, like a jigsaw puzzle, I can spend hours forgetting basic biological needs. Sometimes I even catch myself breathing so slowly it's like I'm barely moving my ribcage. Athletes, artists, and skilled people in all fields report similar experiences "in the zone." Flow state is a helluva drug.

Hey Spiff, you ever considered playing Placcid Plastic Duck Simulator? You just have to sit back, relax, and watch rubber duckies spawn in a pool every 5 minutes. Really cool and calming and I (as a fellow Duck) highly recommend it.

Like it makes sense why it can kill him but it doesn't make any sense at the same time in terms of power. It's a confusing part of the plot 🤣

Tips for you astral spiff for shipahoy. Break open all the breakers first and then start disabling them with electricity. Doing so allows you to skip most of his second round of attacks. Then during the fighting portion. Let yourself get hit by only ranged attacks. If he grabs you then you die. If he kills you with a ranged attack then you'll respawn at the fountain without being consumed.
