I worked in John Hancock..security 93 to 95 ....STOOD ON THE ROOF....

The Iron workers,The Carpenters,The Labourers all worked as a team if the Iron workers said "It's too windy to work to day everyone downed their tools and went home from John Hancock Building Chicago 1960, 1970 the windy city all workers were Union members local 13 I remember 8 men who built John Hancock Building in Chicago

jjk twinkle it was cementious asbestos..I’ve been there number of times after they do abatement of the asbestos...then we go and respray with new fireproofing...

USF...if u knew..or knew anything about Chicago...u would know the buildings I’m talking about were being built in 1967- 1969..so before 1970...and not just because it was 1970 means asbestos spray fireproofing seized..that didn’t happen until 1976 according to my old school union member friends here in Chicago...so there

Back when asbestos was being used like there was no tomorrow...all that buildings structural steel had asbestos spray fireproofing...just like all the ones build in the 60s and 70.. now we are respraying those buildings with the updated fireproofing..like this building,CNA, 222 riverside, and many others..
More like back in the 1930's to 1950's. Not as much in the 70's, banned in commercial building in 1978. You can't knock the times when it was used because they did not know how hazardous it was.

You are right, the buildings in the background are in the west loop and the shape of the building doesn't match the Hancock. Still a great clip of Construction from the late 60's.
I was born in '67. That must be about when this was taken. Maybe '66. Building was finished in 1968. 2nd tallest in the world for a couple years until WTC topped out one of the towers in 1970.

Yeah and do you know how many of these men fell to their death. I'm in the insurance business and I'm all for OSHA. It doesn't take a man to be stupid. It takes a man to do things the safe way so their children have a dad that comes home every day.
