I’m so proud of you young lady. ED Survivor here as well, thank you for being such an awesome role model. By the way, my cat thought I’d lost my mind with my “Come on Allie!” Chant.
Hi Allie, I am so pleased to hear you made it through to the final. In fact I feel really proud to ‘know’ you on social media. You got a lot of attention from the press which you handled really well, I thought, coming over as well thought through, well balanced, intelligent and extremely articulate. Best of British, as we say here across the pond, for the final in a few days. I wish I could get access to watch you run. ❤
This is why I love Allie. I'm really happy to "know" her on TH-cam. She's such a genuine person, and I love that she talked about her eating disorder because I know that it affects a lot of people, and she has helped a lot of people by talking about it. Love her ❤❤❤
@@veganpotterthevegan she was taking an acne medication, prescribed by her dermatologist, as her hormones were balancing during ED recovery. Spironolactone is very commonly prescribed for acne. But it is indeed banned by WADA as it has been used to mask the effects of PEDs (which she has never tested positive for). Allie admitted she didn’t research enough to realize that and promptly stopped taking it thereafter. And she accepted and served her four-month sanction. Despite not ever testing positive for anything that actually enhances performance. So what else is there to say about it?
@runner4life551 fully aware of the story. Also, it's a great masking agent and there are other acne medications that are fully legal. *She tested positive for something that enhances performance. It's also a diuretic which is often used by athletes for performance gains.
W-A-Y-2-G-0!!! Allies' interviews have become like her racing - Must See TV!!! So Articulate; So Relatable & Trustworthy. Somebody get this woman a Broadcasting Gig - Please.
Allie is a great spokesperson for eating disorders and mental health in general. The stigma needs to stop so people can get support and treatment. The mindset of 'no shortcuts" and being emotionally and physically healthy is only way to be an elite athlete with longevity.
She is so inspiring. Life isn't easy. We all have our struggles. The way she shares herself. She's making a huge difference. AND ... Spence is pretty cool too. Local legend keeping the rest of us going. And David Roche ... such a positive person. What a great team.
I was yelling so loud the last few laps of that race!😂 I knew she could do it, but it was a relief to see her go through to the final. She has the fitness and has had great training times; I hope she trusts herself enough to go for it in the final!
Allie is such an amazing role model for young women coping with the struggles inherent in competitive racing. Like many here, I've watched her recovery & training process documented primarily through YT. She has an amazing work ethic & an intense competitive drive. Her journey to the finals is a testament to this. But realistically that's where the dream ends. She's plainly stated her chances of actually making the team is a major long-shot, and she's fine w/ it. She just hasn't had the TIME to work on technique which is so key in SC. Nearly all of her training is focused on strength & race specific VO2... just getting her aerobically strong. She hasn't had time for hurdling or practicing water obstacles, and it REALLY shows. She's having to expend so much extra energy surging after every obstacle to catch back up. Stutter steps going into jumps, then lost momentum going over & exiting results in more lost meters. Sometimes she's giving up full positions, esp through the water obstacle. Now she must surge to catch up. All that extra energy expenditure exacts a major toll at this level of competition. Regardless, given everything she's gone though, Allie making the finals (& hopefully running a PB) is a HUGE accomplishment for her and her crazily UPBEAT coach. Go Allie O!
Allie had the strength and speed to catch the leading 5 with 2 laps to go and then push on - fantastic race................. Wish her the best for the final
GO ALLIE GO!!! You are such an amazing athlete but above and beyond that~ a great human!! Keep being you! I hope that wonderful things continue to bless your beautiful self!!
You ROCK Allie. Way to go and the best of luck. Thank you so much for just being you. You set a great example and really appreciate your openness and honesty about your struggles and recovery. Kick butt in the finals. Rooting for you.
Go Allie! Freya and I were watching you live. SO cool to see you excelling not just at running, but at living life with outspoken honesty and vitality. We know that girl! We'll be watching again on Thursday. Good luck! --Maya Chay
Just watched the race on television. Following Allie on YT really made it much more interesting and fun to watch. I was really concerned that her water jumps were loosing her time but she powered through.
So stoked for you Allie!! I've been a fan since we competed far apart while you were at Kenai at 'met' a few times at some bigger high school meets. I appreciate your genuineness and your strength to be open about your journey. Keep crushing it and have fun in the process! 💪🏔️🫎
So proud of this woman! She has always been so well-spoken and intelligent and to see her overcome her demons has me rooting for her 110%!

Great of her to speak out about ED awareness and her recovery! Good luck in the finals Allie 👏
Its also a great way to keep people from addressing her suspension she got a slap on the wrist for.

Totally agree. No pat answers or cliches from her, and she deftly turned around the weird question implying her apparel sponsorship is burdensome.
Let's go Allie! Excited for the final! Very well articulated in regards to the ED discussion as well :)
There are good people in the world. Allie O. is a good person. Surround yourself with people like her and life is a joy.
