I’ve choosed the v2 and ich totally regret it. It’s really not enjoying to downshift 2-3 gears always to be able to overtake a truck or a bus. I’m so disappointed about that. Install love the rest of the bike it drives awesome, but the power only available at 9k+ isn’t really nice for roads
@@thefika Yeh definetly but only in really high rpm. It feels bad to shift down so many times. It’s great for the track or for curvy roads when you go for a hard push, but I don’t enjoy it for cruising Around.
I think you’re disagreeing with MCN using the same points. The V2 is better on road because you can go through the gears more. Vs the V4 is better on road because you don’t have to go through the gears.
I have 2020 v4s. the torque is what makes it sweet. I added a tooth in the rear, added arrow slip ons, and did the upmap which takes the restriction off the first 4 gears. its the perfect bike now. the torque allows me to pull in a tall gear from very low revs and then when i want to light the candles i can point it east or west and make all the clocks wrong on planet earth. even after two years it has me not just smiling, but actually laughing in my lid. dont short change yourself. go with the madman. you will thank me later.
I like the take away here from this vid man, I am still on the side of the v2 even with the explanation of torque curve. Only reason why is because I just sold my tuono v4 and there is something I missed from a "smaller" displacement/HP. That is the fun you get from winding a smaller engine out. Yes nearly full power is available on the v4 but ringing that throttle on a smaller engine and climbing through RPMs to achieve that full power. Either way I have ridden both and will picking up a v2 for the street here soon. Thanks for vid mate loved it!
Sold my V4 1100 Factory Tuono last year for the reasons you describe, and now have an SFV2. The SFV2 is more engaging precisely because it isn’t quite so lairy… I do miss the semi active Ohlins from that bike though. The Showa forks and Sachs shock aren’t in the same league sadly!
@@riggsyb I ended up getting a s1000r bmw naked version, and is now bren tuned stage 2, on the dyno put up 177whp! Kinda contradicting to what I said in the past but love this bike and wouldn’t change to any other bike anytime soon. Packed with features and tears up the track!
Went to the dealer to “look at” the Bayliss V2 replica and came home with the V4 Streetfighter. They had a brand new V2 SF sitting next to the V4. It was $17,995 USD and the V4 was a used 2022 with 7000 miles, Arrow exhaust, Bren Tune, fender eliminator, turn signals integrated into the fins mod, and a few other tasty bits already added for $19450. Since there was no shipping charge or dealer prep charge on the used bike, the added accessories made this the perfect bike as after taxes tags and title, it was $230 CHEAPER than the V2. It’s in my garage now looking gorgeous.
I bought my Streetfighter V2 about 3 months ago and love it. I might upgrade to a Streetfighter V4S once I have some more riding experience as I have only been riding for about 2 and a half years. That's the main reason I went for the V2 instead of the V4. Currently I own 3 Ducati's: 2021 Ducati Monster Plus, 2022 Ducati Scrambler Nightshift (My fav), and the newest one, my 2022 Ducati Streetfighter V2. My local Ducati dealership owner loves me haha
@@thefika My Nightshift is my favorite because of many factors. I love the way it looks and sounds the most out of the three. I installed an Akra exhaust on it. I just like the simplicity of it, no ride modes or settings to mess with. Just get on it, ride it and have fun. It's also the best around town bike, as it doesn't get super hot in stop and go traffic, which the Monster/V2 most definitely do. You feel like those two are trying to cook your family jewels when sitting at one to many stop lights.
What about the maintenance on these bikes is it really true what they say about Ducatis they cost an arm and a leg for everything and are they durable do they hold up compared to Japanese bikes
I had 2 Ducatis at one point. Wasn't willing to part with my ST4. It was a great bike. Then I bought a Monster 1200. After having two bikes in two seasons, I just sold the ST4. I didn't use it anymore. It just sat in the garage.
Thank you for the video. Yes i saw all the videos you mentioned about the v2 is better for the street. Coming of a 959 same engine. I wanted to try the v4 but after watching all the videos i was deterred. Now not so much. Just ordered the v4 yesterday, bc of your video. Thanks again
Just curious my only worry is the wind during high speed. Ive never been on a naked bike, im sure, i cant be the only one that likes to rip it once in a while on straight roads. How much more would you say compared to a sport bike. My only references are an r6,r1 and my 959.
I test ride a v2 last year and I like it but I didn’t love it. I own currently a second generation mt09 and after watching this video I understand now why great info I hope to test the v4 in 2023 as is been some really good updates and hopefully hit the trigger for 1 ❤
I respect Neevsy's angle, but his experience/rider level is far beyond the ordinary Joe - he can, no doubt, squeeze more out of the V2 on the road. The V4 has an explosive top end, but output is restricted in the first 4x gears, so the 208 BHP crank power is rarely realised on the road. I've watched countless V4 reviews where the rider has expressed shear disbelief at how Ducati manage to get 208BHP down with such stability....whilst winding on full throttle in 1st or 2nd gear to 8000rpm ! The reality is there is nowhere near 208 BHP being laid down in 1st or 2nd gear at 8000rpm. 208 BHP is crank horsepower - rear wheel horse power Max is more like 185 BHP.....but not at 8000rpm in 2nd gear peak power is 13,000rpm ....but only in 5th or 6th will the 208 BHP crank be fully realised at 13,000rpm. The V2 is much less powerful/torquey, but is electronically restricted a lot less accordingly - probably makes the bike feel more dynamic as a result and more akin to road use, as the "hyde" nature of the V4's top end cannot be fully utilised on typical UK roads....but can on a smooth open track with no oncoming vehicles and plenty of run-offs in place of granite hedges.. I see the "V2 is better than V4" reviews as simply that - the V2 feels easier to cope with on the road at moderate speeds, allows more of the rpm range to be utilised accordingly. Remember also that Primary drive, transmission and final drive ratios have an enormous influence on how engine power is transferred to the rear wheel/road.
Neevsy is my favourite bike reviewer. I was not singling him out but he missed the mark with this one. It was like ALL the youtube reviewers know more people will buy the V2 and were pandering to that audience for views. If you ride both on the street at 3000 rpm to 8000 rpm. Which is where you're at on the street. Its clear limited or not (Imagine the V4 unlimited, almost unridable on the street) The V4 has way more punch at those RPMs in any gear. I found I had to change down gears with the V2 more often. not to say the V2 is bad just that the V4 is better at those RPMs. Living at the higher RPMs with the V2 is not very streetwise. On the street was my point. Not to mention better display, brakes, seat, suspension, and switches which also make it better for the street.
@@thefika Spot on, I'm starting to think that Ducati didn't get the pre-sales of the V2, like they have the V4 (we actually have V2's in stock where I live, GOOD LUCK getting a V4/V4S) so they needed some "help" lol.
@@shredz0000 The main difference is that the S has öhlins fork and shock absorber in the back, where as the non S have standard Ducati shocks and forks. Traditionally S have a little more HP too, but not on the V4 if I remember correctly.
Totally agree with your review. I've recently taken delivery of a 2024 SF V4S. With the new electronics and riding modes you actually can choose a FULL power mode with only first gear being slightly torque limited. 2nd-6th give 100% of the available torque and power. Once run in and I'm able to fully rev it out I will report back.
You are spot on. Who said we need to use 100% of the power all the time? I own the SFV4S and my wife rides the 2021 Panigale V2. The SFV4 has power from 5k up, not the same can be said of the V2. For the street, I want a bike that I can accelerate hard from low RPMs not something that need to be at 10k to give me that kick. It has better brakes and the build quality is far superior.
I just test road both bikes yesterday and what you just technically explained is exactly what I experienced. Thank you for explaining what I felt. V4 all the way.
I bought a V2 over the v4 and i rode both of them same day. I did inded end up doing a tune to the V2 which makes a huge difference. The tuned V2 makes a good amount more torque and hp from 3.5k all the way to 10K over even the up mapped V4. The v2 is purposely stunted in that rev range especially in the first few gears. Riding my tuned V2 to a stock V4, which i did (my dealer has demo bikes), the V2 feels WAY punchier in the low to id range than the V4, once you hit about 10-11k, the V4 obviously gets brutal and the V2 peters out. I will agree though, the electronic ohlins, the better switches, the sound, all of that still makes me kind of wonder if i should have spent more
This is the answer. I had a Panigale 959 that I bought with an exhaust, tune, and shorter gearing already on it. The bike was SORTED for the road and I really enjoyed it. I then test-rode a stock Streetfighter V2 and was surprised and disappointed at how tame it was compared to my old 959 (even though mechanically they are almost identical minus the mods). I knew how capable it could be based on my 959 engine. It was pretty clear that the Streetfighter V2 is nerfed from the factory in terms of ECU tune and gearing. I did end up buying a Streetfighter V2. Mine has the Akra exhaust and a BT-Moto tune (same as Brentune) that adds 12hp peak power but more importantly a big bump to mid-range torque (much better performance than the UpMap that comes with the Akra exhaust), and I changed my sprockets to -1 on the front and +2 on the rear. The bike is transformed now and pulls HARD through the whole rev range without feeling like it's going to yeet me when I get into high revs (like 200+hp on V4 would). It's got attitude and feels really alive now and is perfect for me, and the shift points are really well suited to the type of roads and traffic I ride. Yes I lost 30km/h top speed from the sprocket change, but it'll still reach 240km/h which is plenty. It's a bike that really deserves to come like that from the factory.
Thanks for this sensible and clear video. I just opted for the V4S instead of the V2 despite loving the looks of the latter. Have just taken off the wings and it is almost as good looking as the V2 but with all the benefits you set out. Enjoying your musings from Cape Town. Keep the videos coming.
What a fantastic reviewer with no BS. I was surprised to see so many videos about the SFV2 being better than the SFV4/V4s. Thanks for the explanations, it makes total sense. We need more reviewers like you. Once again amazing video!!!
The 208hp V4 engine can be lowered down to 155hp if not mistaken, making it equallly same power level with V2. So i opted for V4 as it more flexible if I want to explore its full power on the straight highway or lower it for street use 😅
I mostly agree with what you say but you misread the chart at 8:00 The torque scale ranges from 60 to 100 nm on the V2 chart. At 6000 rpm, it's not 45 nm but 75 nm. Granted it's quite a lot less than the V4, but 75 is already plenty for the street.
A reviewer from India also commented that the because the V2 likes high revs, its tyranny is actually pretty choppy in town while the V4 is smooth like butter. That alone is worth the price if you ride in town mostly
Best decision i took is to buy the V4. Beautiful rumble and bass while cruising in 2nd gear at 4-5k rpm in the city. For such a monster it drives much smoother than some of the beginner bikes.
totally agree…V4 have great torque and is necessary a little bit of gas for go out of corner..V2 have an engine that performs more in medium high range
Neevsy also made the statement that “if you didn’t like the old Streetfighter, you are not going to like the new (V4) Streetfighter”. That is nonsense in that the old Streetfighter was a pain to ride - clackly engine at slower speeds vs the absolute smoothness of the new V4. Which is why Ducati sold so few of the old SFs and why the new V4 is such a hot seller. I own the SFV4S and it is one of the easiest big bore bikes I have ever ridden. The smooth power delivery, the friendly throttle response and advanced electronics keep the bike stable and easy to ride under all circumstances, including in-town riding. The old Streetfighter was a pain to ride at anything other then a blistering speed. The riding position of the V4 is comfortable, with just the right amount of lean to slice through the wind. I normally trade my bikes in at about the 18 month mark for the next better bike. However, with this bike there is simply no where to go. I am not sure what could be added to make it better. In terms of the V2 version, it only makes sense for financial reasons. For Neevsy to suggest it’s “other worldliness” is only suited for the track is a ridiculous statement. It smacks of a little bit of an elitist attitude. The fact is that the electronics are such that you can ride this bike very hard and the active Olins will keep the suspension where it needs to be and the TC and wheelie control will keep you out of trouble. It’s really a very easy bike to ride - it can behave like a good urban bike or you can cane it through the twistes - it can do it all. Very versatile.
I had a conversation with a Ducati rider about this very thing, the V2 vs the V4 and what would be right for me. I also have the Aprilia Tuono 660 I use as a daily driver that I really enjoy but I am looking to add the Streetfighter as more of a weekend fun machine. I was pretty focused on the StreetFighter V2 but The gentelman I was speaking with said you already have a twin and the riding experience will be about the same with another twin. He said I should really look at the StreetFighter V4. The V4 is a completely different riding experience. His explnation of power was "Look, any of these bikes can get you thrown in jail so how fast it is makes no difference." The V4 is a completely different riding experience.
I have an 1198. Needed something a little more comfortable to ride. Won’t lie. I wanted the v4. But just couldn’t shell out $25,000 for another bike. Love my v2.
I got a Ducati Monster 1200. Its time to change it, so I was test riding the V4. Fantastic bike. Not as good saddle as the monster, but very nice. I ride 500 km easy with my Monster. I think the V4 would be a little more tiresome, but not much more. The reason I will probably pick the V2 though, is price. I live in Norway and our season is only 6 months. I can't with good conscience spend that kind of money on a vehicle I can only ride for 6 months. Another point you didn't mention is how much fuel the V4 use. Makes it more expensive to use, but not the real reason I would give a point to the V2. I don't have to stop that often to fill gas. I like that I can ride longer on a tank of gas. My monster is about 300 km on a tank and the V2 is said to be 270 km, where as the V4 is 210 km. That makes a big difference in stops when you have a trip that is 2000 km long and your friends don't really need to fill fuel when the V4 has to. An interesting note is that the Monster 1200 has 118 NM torque. Love my monster, but it has 65k on the meter now and it's 8 years old. It's time for it to have a new owner ;)
Go with what work for you. I had a friend that picked up a low mileage V4 in perfect Nik for that same price as a new V2. I never thought of that option. Reality is both are awesome 😎
The issue with the V4 is that it's hard to use 208hp on a NAKED bike that light with a short wheelbase. I have more HP than that on my ZX14R/ZZR1400, but it's longer, lower, heavy and has a fairing. Anything over 140mph on a naked bike, isn't much fun. Over 150 and approaching 160mph is downright horrible on a naked bike that has you pitched over the front end... So having a bike that could do 190mph when you could never even get near that, seems like a waste... The V4 might be a bit better on the road, but is it really $7k better? I doubt it... The V2 seems to be the batter balance. Bit lighter, less temperamental and its a LOT cheaper, and 150hp on a lightweight naked like that is still stupid fast... Its less about whether the V4 is better, and more about whether its worth it. The Ford F150 Raptor might be better than the F150 FX4, but if you live in the city with no access to off road, is it really better and worth the extra coin?
Thanks for sharing that. I had 0 issues. Im not sure what you mean by temperamental. The best thing about the V4 is you can get a low milage one for the same price as a new V2. No brainer. These things are better - More usable low down power and torque than the v2 on the street ( you don't have to rev it out like the v2) - Way more power up high too. - Virtually the same weight and handling. In fact better weight distribution. - Better suspension - Better brakes - Better seat - Better display - Better switch gear - Better sound I would still like a V2 though
Great take. But I think there's a bit more nuance to why the reviewers are "wrong" about the V2. The real problem with the V2 is that it is also "too much" for the road, it's just a different kind of too much compared to the V4 (I'll be the first to touch grass and admit that anything over 121 hp (Str3) is too much for normal street use). People who think the V4 is "too much" really shouldn't be going to the V2, they should be going for the Monster, SS, or Hyper, all of which have way more bottom end than the V2 and will accordingly feel faster at street speeds too.
So much sense spoken that could be repeated about most ‘pro reviews’ stop it right now 😊 the 600 super sports are an absolute hoot but a bit of a bore on the road, you have to be on the edge all the time to make them work, anyway, what do I know but you know what I mean 😊
hmmmm, love your bike and I was close to buying one. I tried them all but found that neither bike was good for the road. I own two Ducatis so I am a fan but I found the Super Duke was by far the best for the road. If Ducati would address the heat issue, lack of gas gauge, lack of cruise control and its terrible gas mileage it would be a better choice for the road. Amazing bike on many counts but there are better for the street. I will probably buy one of these if they address those issues or maybe a Panigale as a track bike.
Its all about preferences, rode both, for me the v2 makes more sense on C-roads . the v4 brings out the animal in me and I couldnt ride slow with it always wanting to pull the throttle , where with the v2 I couldn't ride normal !
Either way your a winner. I guess my point was don’t be turned off the V4 because someone said it’s too much for the raid and the V2 is better on the road. If you prefer the V2 go for it
@@thefika yeah tossing it up. 31 and just got my L’s. I have a vitpilen 401, but it’s just not enough… I know the V4 is a huge jump but I’m not a street Rossi and it seems to actually be manageable with all the driver assistance
@@poz6294 Its a pussy cat to ride. Nothing to be scared of except for our own stupidity. I will be honest. I got this because I did not want to get a 150HP V2 SF or any other bike. Then a year later think to myself. I should of went for the 200HP machine. Once you go to 200HP. Your won and done. There is no more lusting for a faster bike.
100% agree with you that the idea that you have to use all of a bikes power or it's useless just doesn't make sense. Bikes have been capable of breaking all these limits for decades. Same thing goes for sports cars. According to these people if you have a pick up truck or suv and you're not always going off road or loading the bed and towing stuff it's useless right?
We’ll said! Because of the suspension, maneuverability, adjustability, riding assist features, size & fit, street performance, the TFT display, All the upgrades…the V4 makes it a better bike for the road. The rig may be overpowered for street but what bike, car or truck isn’t? My Camaro 1LE says 200mph on the dash.. I’ll never go 200mph.. How you ride it is in the Rider. If I could make it a 100mph bike I would still choose this design & features. “It’s betta 4 the Road!”.. 😎
Have you switched to the diavel v4 yet? Or maybe speed triple, tuono v4, zh2, or superduke since they all make more power and torque than sfv4 does before 8-10k.
Hey nice video, I got the sf v2 and feel that it's not really for the road, if you want to get the power from it that you have to rev it high, 9k and more, which is useless and dangerous on the street, I'm probably giving it in for a sf v4s, hope I got that torque at low-mid revs. I also have a guzzi v9 bobber, not that powerful but that v twin is a good one, fun on the road with a good punch from low revs
I know this…….that’s one sexy, freaking, motorcycle right there! Only been riding two years and have only ridden Harley Davidson. After two years……I want a fast boy bike!
Hee, hee. You right, there’s no such thing as “too much hprs for the road”. Maybe too much hprs for the specific rider, but that comes down to a rider that can have max fun while not forgetting to use his head. And “scratching that itch” is definitely the best preventative medicine for buyers remorse.
Right on. The chart is just to represent the difference. When you ride both bikes. There is no doubt the V4 just has more pull low down in any gear at street speeds. That's my point
Lots of valid points, kind of ruined by the fact that you analysed the torque curves completely wrong, which makes it seem like the V2 is WAY worse than it is.
Couldn’t disagree with you (and hence agree with the professional reviewers) more… If all you want is lazy torque, buy a BMW GS! It’s a far better road bike again than a Streetfighter V4… Many of us want a sense of engagement, a feeling of harmony between man and machine. The SFV2 is still an incredibly quick bike, but many of us mere mortals can get somewhere near that bikes potential, whereas the V4’s potential is so much higher that it’s irrelevant to most people. I tour 2up quite a bit, I wanted a fun bike with loads of torque, (me, my missus and some luggage is over 200kg) so I bought a KTM 1290SAS for that purpose. I can be lazy with it and it’s still huge fun. For the Streetfighter, it’s very much a solo bike, the pillion pegs aren’t even on mine. I wanted something that made me feel like I was getting the most out of the bike, that the engine wasn’t dominating the package, and that everything felt incredibly well balanced… Having owned V4 Tuono’s, MT-10’s, 1290’s and ridden V4 Ducati’s, the SFV2 is very much the more enjoyable road bike for the reasons I describe…
🤣 saying that a V2 needs to be at the right gear or lacks torque like it were a Japanese old 4 in line is just ridiculous. Also you get the value, the price difference is just too big between both. Sure the V4 will have more Torque and nicer equipment...it's at least 10k more than V2, it better bloody have something to justify that crazy price tag. Enjoy your bike and have fun in the corners!
Streetfighter V4 Euro 5 delivers 208 HP (153 kW) at 13,000 rpm KTM 1290r SDR makes 144nm and 180 hp @ 8500rpm. Hence why I have a KTM. Ducati’s still need to be revved.
Thanak for your thoughts. This is true. However I think the Duke along with the Tuono it's probably too much torque down low for the street. With the SF V4 you have more than enough down low for the street and then get the bonus of the massive top end of and when you need it imo
I owned a hyper 950 due to my height 170cm only able to put one foot down i decided to sell it 😢 (for me still the most fun bike ever) Then got me the sfv2 instead, under 7000rpm no torque imo at least so after 1300km i sold it and got me the sfv4 sp Best bike everrrr 😅 Power everywhere its like driving a ferrari i guess, by that i mean u have al the tech&spec u want and don’t even have go full throttle to feel its awsome powerband. Its a rocket when u need it be and a good daily aswell so for me wayyy beter than the v2
mate your not reading the power graphs correctly @~8:30 the V2 is making ~80kgm from 4500rpm and builds to 100kgm after 8000rpm (right axis on the dual axis graph). I assume the V4 is kgm as well. So its roughly a 20% increase in torque (which above 80nm how much torque do you need on a 180kg bike before the electronic aids kick in). Weight is roughly the same (V2 is 2kg lighter).
I think that every rider if we're honest but Yer younger guys will take more risk. My point was really on the Street your living at 3000 to 8000 rpm where the big bike is better.
I got the SFV4s as my first bike (although I was 48 at that point). The bike is soooo smooth and well mannered on the road and I actually prefer it than other, smaller and tightly wound bikes. When you are riding it, its like "I got this, don't worry, just enjoy" :)
Well the only thing you are right about, is that the V4 has better torque, and if its all about torque why not buy the 1290 Super Duke, or the Kawasaki ZH2? Both got much better torque than the V4. Yes the V4 got better brakes, and suspension than the V2, for the track that is :) The fact is that the V2 have plenty of stopping power and less aggressive, so better for the road. The suspension setup is for the road. It got plenty of torque for the road between 3000 and 8000 rpm, and you dont have to downshift all the time. It got a slimmer rear tyre, and no winglets, and a bit lighter, so it is more argyle, better for the road. The V2 power delivery is smoother, and you can twist the throttle much more than the V4, so more suitable for the road. The V2 has better fuel economy, and a bigger fuel tank = much longer range, better for the road. Seat, switches and display are all about your personal opinion. I admit that the V4 is a fantastic bike, and better than the V2, just not for the road :)
@@thefika Hahaha is that Your answer? Well thats proof enough for me that the V2 is better on the road 😁 Anyway, good luck with Your track bike on the road, may You enjoy all 30% 😉
I disagree that the v4 better for the road, im currently owned a v2 streetfighter, i had tried a v4 before purchasing my v2. Im currently living in china right now, with the traffic and population in guangdong china i be really happy if i can get get on 2nd gear of the v4, as we all know ducati has a bad name for low speed riding, the bike chock on gear, with average speed around 40 - 50km in a city ride v2 is happy with the 2nd gear, but v4 i be stuck between 1st and 2nd. Also the heat, v4 generate so much hear and almost cook my dingdong during traffic and at the light, but v2 has none of that issue, is the coolest ducati i had ride. As u mention the brakes and shocks are better because v4 is a much powerful bike so of cos is better equipped but doesn't just mean better for road, it also better for track. V2 come with stock brembo m4 calipers is really enough for the road. Also i feel the v2 is bit more nimble than then v4, is little bit slimer which can get in between traffic bit better, but that r just my experience 😅
No one has said a Streetfighter V4 is a bad road Michael Neaves said in his long term report it was a good bike. What they are saying is it isn’t as fun a bike as the V2 and you did not address this in your argument. The torque part even proves what the journalists have to say. I have been luck to own many Ducati’s and Ducati powered Bimota’s I still have my DB8 which has a flat torque curve is super light and the last of the true analog bikes is it fun to ride, no. Do I love owning it, yes. You can’t ride it as a fast as it wants to go on the road and you don’t want to risk it on a track so it just isn’t relevant anymore. Is it a good road bike well it is as good as any other superbike in road trim. So the question they are answering is a V2 more fun on the road than a V4 and they are saying it is. You are arguing if it’s a better road bike which you define as it’s ability to ride on the road and having ridden both they are very much the same and you don’t need to spend the 40% more to get a V4. I think you need to ride both of them and then ask yourself which is more fun
The V4 is more fun for me. I have had a few guys in the comments that have a V2. They agree with me. One even said because all the power is up the top end with the V2 its not fun to ride on the road.
It’s interesting that people say this as Ducati restrict power on the V4 in 12 &3 to that of a V2. I think this has always been the way of people and power tell someone that 200bhp show them a dyno run in 5th where there are no restrictions and they believe they are are on a better bike. I guess that’s the difference between people that have raced and have a lot of experience riding and people up at the cafe. They are both lovely things though
I would say you can use more of what is on tap compared to the V4. The V4 you can push harder with more rubber, better brakes and the same weight. Except you have a lot more power in reserve
FIKA. The torque data is simply wrong. This is what’s wrong with TH-cam. Inaccurate clickbate. You know the data is incorrect, but you don’t fix the video. Sad really. How about researching the torque setting units before posting? Having said that, your opinion is solid and has good merit. Lower torque is better for the street. I haven’t decided which one to buy and your video did influence me. It’s not 45nm vs 100nm down low. It’s 75nm vs 100nm down low. That is a very different proposition. The low 75nm of torque in the V2 is flat and more predictable than the raging bull of the V4 that just keeps climbing. Great work spoiled by bad data. Fly in the ointment.
This V2 chart is saying a different story, you just didn’t know how to read it. There’s no 45Nm on that chart! I own V4S, but I have to defend V2 in this case.
I understand the need for rationalizing why you bought a 208hp fairingless superbike, but the sfv2 is already too much for the road. Turn off all rider aids and you'll do nothing but wheelies and wheelspins trying to put that much extra v4 power on the road. Believe me, I have a diavel 1260 s, which puts 124 nm at 4500 rpm (the point at which the sfv4 dyno chart starts) and its outright unsafe to ride without aids.
Mate, you disagree with Neeves! Like your way of thinking. I have read that heat management is better on the 4 as well - not have enough personal experience to comment.
Rode the v2 and v4s back to back yesterday, same part urban part country loop. Reinforces everything you said when you posted this. The V4 is much nicer in urban riding, and has a precision in brakes and suspension the V2 does not. The v2 has a less well fuelled feeing, which is (I guess) really how the electronic throttle is set up - snatchy when coming off a closed throttle, say when going right around a roundabout. Money aside, V4 vastly better than the V2. The under-seat heat issue was less of an issue on the V4 than the V2 (rode in about 24c, speeds urban to say 110kph), but still more of an issue than my 17/18 s1000r. As you say both StreetFighter are great BUT the better road machine is the V4.
Sorry buddy. Nope. A naked bike with +200hp where most of the power is high in the rev range, that revs as high as that thing. Nah. Horrendous fuel economy, probably worst in class. This would just frustrate me. I wouldn’t buy any of them. It’s still the best looking naked bike and a beautiful thing. Superduke r is where it’s at for me.
Are you watching the video I made? I was comparing the V2 v V4 streetfighter. The V4 has much more low end power than the V2. What's the confusion here?
Nah, get base tuono, it's more comfy than factory and even cheaper than sfv2 🤣 After riding them all back to back SFV4 feels like it has very little torque compared to tuono, have to rev it to the moon and go wot to go anywhere. V2 is extremely underwhelming and absolutely gutless until 8k rpm (at lower rpms it feels like it's about to die, so you basically have to be in lower gears at all times), or so in addition to having a vibrating seat, laughable brakes, suspension, screen with no fuel gauge or cruise control for that kind of money. That superquadro would only work fine on the track, totally pointless on the street with how high and narrow the power band is. V2 is a bit more engaging to ride than sfv4 though.
@@volodymyrshoniia2424I like the base Tuono too. Yep Tuono definitely has more low down Torque than the streetfighter V4. Not the same difference between the V2 and V4 àSF through
@@thefika yeah, sfv4 is good in its own right, I'm sure it would only feel down on usable torque compared to tuono/superduke/zh2 (perhaps speed triple and mt-10 as well), I don't like that Ducati v4 sound at all, so that didn't help, it does feel smoother at lower revs than aprilia's v4 (perhaps not having as much torque helps there), aprilia has a much smoother feeling quick shifter and transmission in general . Sfv4 is very fast, just doesn't give that "year your arms off" sensation like tuono does, have to rev it out, with tuono I can be at partial throttle and short shift because the mid range is extremely strong whereas Ducati is more about top end. SFV2 is underwhelming even compared to middleweight nakeds with less power, they just make more power and torque everywhere compared to sfv2 which revs higher than something like 890 duke R that also has shorter gearing. Honestly that superquadro is underwhelming even compared to my 690 SMC r.
@@volodymyrshoniia2424 all excellent points! I love the SFV4, but Im having a hard time trying to convince myself that the Tuono isn’t a better value (and overall bike). I’ve had 5 trouble free years with my RSV4 so Im not afraid of their reliability or lack of. Either way it’s a great time to be a motorcycle enthusiast with all these options.
Thanks for sharing that mate. That's exactly what I was getting at. The V2 is still a beast
@@aliwoh it depends on personal preferences tbh !
Right on
I like the take away here from this vid man, I am still on the side of the v2 even with the explanation of torque curve.
Yer man. Go with what works. I know what you mean, I miss my Tuono 660 and I reckon the STREET TRIPLE 765 R is perfect
Sold my V4 1100 Factory Tuono last year for the reasons you describe, and now have an SFV2. The SFV2 is more engaging precisely because it isn’t quite so lairy…
I do miss the semi active Ohlins from that bike though.
Never put a V2 next TO A v4!!! Streetfighter V4 is the only way to fly
Ah man you gunner. The V2 is awesome. So you like the scrambler better? I was think of getting the Scrambler 1100 Tribute
How did you get insurance for the V2??
Good choice! V4 POWER! Its the Best Motor in Motorcycling
Just curious my only worry is the wind during high speed. Ive never been on a naked bike, im sure, i cant be the only one that likes to rip it once in a while on straight roads. How much more would you say compared to a sport bike. My only references are an r6,r1 and my 959.
solid opinion! I have never had the opportunity yet to testride but more torque with the V4 would make it much more fun indeed. thx!!
Right on mate have a good easter
I test ride a v2 last year and I like it but I didn’t love it. I own currently a second generation mt09 and after watching this video I understand now why great info I hope to test the v4 in 2023 as is been some really good updates and hopefully hit the trigger for 1 ❤
Man. MT09 is Ace. Im sure you will love the Duke though
@@Albertalorian hi. Whats the main difference between V4 and V4S?
@@shredz0000 The main difference is that the S has öhlins fork and shock absorber in the back, where as the non S have standard Ducati shocks and forks. Traditionally S have a little more HP too, but not on the V4 if I remember correctly.
Totally agree with your review.
I've recently taken delivery of a 2024 SF V4S.
With the new electronics and riding modes you actually can choose a FULL power mode with only first gear being slightly torque limited.
2nd-6th give 100% of the available torque and power.
Once run in and I'm able to fully rev it out I will report back.
Woof. Thanks for the info
Exactly mate. By the way. Woof 2 awesome bikes to ride
That mid range acceleration is what’s needed on the road. Gets you out of trouble. The V4 is awesome
Yep! V4 had power everywhere
I just test road both bikes yesterday and what you just technically explained is exactly what I experienced. Thank you for explaining what I felt. V4 all the way.
Glad to hear man. You gonna get one?
I will agree though, the electronic ohlins, the better switches, the sound, all of that still makes me kind of wonder if i should have spent more
The V2 is the authentic Ducati experience too
This is the answer.
Good choice! You buying new? 2023 one?
What a fantastic reviewer with no BS. I was surprised to see so many videos about the SFV2 being better than the SFV4/V4s. Thanks for the explanations, it makes total sense. We need more reviewers like you. Once again amazing video!!!
My man. ;)
The 208hp V4 engine can be lowered down to 155hp if not mistaken, making it equallly same power level with V2. So i opted for V4 as it more flexible if I want to explore its full power on the straight highway or lower it for street use 😅
Woof. Yes street is 150 then you have hyperdrive
for real? so the street mode in V4 power is limited to 150? thats great@@thefika
I mostly agree with what you say but you misread the chart at 8:00
The torque scale ranges from 60 to 100 nm on the V2 chart. At 6000 rpm, it's not 45 nm but 75 nm. Granted it's quite a lot less than the V4, but 75 is already plenty for the street.
Thanks for the tips. The V2 is not in Nm it's kgm. I have no idea why Ducati done that. I'm not familiar with that metric.
@@thefika 10 mkg is about 100 nm. The bike still makes 75 nm or 7.5 mkg at 6000 rpm
A reviewer from India also commented that the because the V2 likes high revs, its tyranny is actually pretty choppy in town while the V4 is smooth like butter. That alone is worth the price if you ride in town mostly
Yep 1000%
With this honest video, you have won a subscriber.
Thank you
You're 100% right. Now I have to pray to win lotto to buy SF V4SP. More torque is always better for the road.
🤞
Best decision i took is to buy the V4. Beautiful rumble and bass while cruising in 2nd gear at 4-5k rpm in the city. For such a monster it drives much smoother than some of the beginner bikes.
100% V4 is King
totally agree…V4 have great torque and is necessary a little bit of gas for go out of corner..V2 have an engine that performs more in medium high range
Right on
Neevsy also made the statement that “if you didn’t like the old Streetfighter, you are not going to like the new (V4) Streetfighter”.
Thanks for sharing that mate
I didnt even watch the video yet and I agree with this already!!
The only way to fly ,💪
He is right. Having had a Tuono 660 which was a beast. The V2 Streetfighter won't be a big step up. The V4 however. That's Top G
Absolutely amazing and clear video thank you, I think you are absolutely right and Torque is the figure to look at on the road!
Well said!
I have an 1198. Needed something a little more comfortable to ride. Won’t lie. I wanted the v4. But just couldn’t shell out $25,000 for another bike. Love my v2.
Ah man. A V2 is a real Ducati. I would love one.
100% agreement. the V4 has more to offer in day to day usage than any wanna be bike. i know from practical experience.
Right on Bruv. You have a great weekend
No brainer.
These things are better
- More usable low down power and torque than the v2 on the street ( you don't have to rev it out like the v2)
- Way more power up high too.
- Virtually the same weight and handling. In fact better weight distribution.
- Better suspension
- Better brakes
- Better seat
- Better display
- Better switch gear
- Better sound
I would still like a V2 though
Sweet comparison between the 2 bikes! Would love to see someone do this kind of comparison on the diavel 1260 and the new diavel v4. Thanks
Noted! I think a big V2 is better for cruising unless you want superbike performance on your cruiser
Both are great bikes plenty for road .I like my 890 duke R
99Nm at 7,000rpm and 166kg dry.
Nice 👍
Best comparo. Other ones favor V2 for street use but I agree here.
woof
At least a realistic comparison. Thank you for that.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing. I guess there are more stories to tell if you bring more bikes into it
So much sense spoken that could be repeated about most ‘pro reviews’ stop it right now 😊 the 600 super sports are an absolute hoot but a bit of a bore on the road, you have to be on the edge all the time to make them work, anyway, what do I know but you know what I mean 😊

@@thefika 😊
hmmmm, love your bike and I was close to buying one.
If you prefer the V2 go for it
@@thefika I will go for a V4 but I am a hooligan on a motorcycle :)

I will be honest. I got this because I did not want to get a 150HP V2 SF or any other bike. Then a year later think to myself. I should of went for the 200HP machine.
Once you go to 200HP. Your won and done. There is no more lusting for a faster bike.
I would love to see this same comparison on the diavel 1260 and diavel v4.
Yer. That would be very interesting
I was double shifting to keep my v2 in the power, one gear off and no power. Now, half the shifting, better for road AND track
Woof
100% agree with you that the idea that you have to use all of a bikes power or it's useless just doesn't make sense. Bikes have been capable of breaking all these limits for decades. Same thing goes for sports cars. According to these people if you have a pick up truck or suv and you're not always going off road or loading the bed and towing stuff it's useless right?
Sound right to me Bruv
Woof! Agree 100%. have a good one mate
SFV4 is top shelf! No regrets and everyone is jealous.
Woof!
Have you switched to the diavel v4 yet? Or maybe speed triple, tuono v4, zh2, or superduke since they all make more power and torque than sfv4 does before 8-10k.
Nope. You will not need more Torque before 8K. too much already and then you wont get the crazy top end
@@thefika but you will get crazy at more reasonable speeds thanks to having more torque and power lower 🙃
Thanks for sharing that
And the v4 is better? In low rpm Power ?
I know this…….that’s one sexy, freaking, motorcycle right there!
Only been riding two years and have only ridden Harley Davidson. After two years……I want a fast boy bike!
Do it do it 😄
What I got out of this is the v2 suits more for a beginner rider and the v4 for the more experience rider on the road or on the track
Right? Thank you
I don't think any will be good for a beginner. Im just saying the V4 is better on the street and on the Track. Unless your Pro. The V2 will be better
Well stated!
Thank mate
Hee, hee. You right, there’s no such thing as “too much hprs for the road”. Maybe too much hprs for the specific rider, but that comes down to a rider that can have max fun while not forgetting to use his head. And “scratching that itch” is definitely the best preventative medicine for buyers remorse.
My Man. Thanks for sharing
yes agree
Woof
Valid points.
Don’t forget these charts represent values at full throttle, how often are you at full throttle?
Right on. The chart is just to represent the difference. When you ride both bikes. There is no doubt the V4 just has more pull low down in any gear at street speeds. That's my point
Agree.
My Man
Lots of valid points, kind of ruined by the fact that you analysed the torque curves completely wrong, which makes it seem like the V2 is WAY worse than it is.
they are different measurements
I honestly prefer v2 though. It has a more comfortable position and is smaller which suits me because I am not big
Fair enough
Sweet.
Yes indeed
I didnt catch in the vid- have you actually ridden the V2?
Yes
V4 is better in every way on the road except fuel consumption
I agree V4 all the way!
Earned my Sub!
Woof my man, love your work by the way
Likewise
@@thefika you’ve seen my stuff no way 🙌🏽 thank you for that. I believe what you’re saying is spot on. Take care and be safe out there ✌🏽✌🏽 Ride well
I have a monster 950 , though about de sf v2 didn’t do it because until 8000 revs the monster has a much better torque
Yep. Nice midrange on that beast
It handles better in the corners than the V2.
Streetfighter V4 Euro 5 delivers 208 HP (153 kW) at 13,000 rpm
KTM 1290r SDR makes 144nm and 180 hp @ 8500rpm.
I owned a hyper 950 due to my height 170cm only able to put one foot down i decided to sell it 😢 (for me still the most fun bike ever)
Then got me the sfv2 instead, under 7000rpm no torque imo at least so after 1300km i sold it and got me the sfv4 sp
Best bike everrrr 😅
Power everywhere its like driving a ferrari i guess, by that i mean u have al the tech&spec u want and don’t even have go full throttle to feel its awsome powerband. Its a rocket when u need it be and a good daily aswell so for me wayyy beter than the v2
YES! This Woof
mate your not reading the power graphs correctly @~8:30 the V2 is making ~80kgm from 4500rpm and builds to 100kgm after 8000rpm (right axis on the dual axis graph). I assume the V4 is kgm as well. So its roughly a 20% increase in torque (which above 80nm how much torque do you need on a 180kg bike before the electronic aids kick in). Weight is roughly the same (V2 is 2kg lighter).
You just have to ride both and you will feel the night and day difference
What happened to laptops reviews?
Still Pumping
what does the fuel consumption say?
It’s says Thirsty. If you want a bike with good fuel ⛽️ economy. You don’t buy a 200HP monster
@@thefika Well, I do have a KTM 1290 SDR and I run it on 6l / 100km
A lot of HP does not have to mean bad fuel economy, see KTM or BMW.
One thing you forgot- lots of young riders can't control their adrenaline so v4 can be more dangerous
Yes, right on the V4 is much better for the road.
@@thefika Hahaha is that Your answer? Well thats proof enough for me that the V2 is better on the road 😁 Anyway, good luck with Your track bike on the road, may You enjoy all 30% 😉
1098S Streetfighter rider here…it’s fast enough for me.
Woof. Thats a nice Motor
I can do 3 easy at 40 50 with all the V4 Torque
They agree
with me.
Woof
Woof
V2 is more fun because you can push it harder, you can not really use all of the v4 power on the the road.
Nah it good 100% correct V4 is better. End of
This V2 chart is saying a different story, you just didn’t know how to read it. There’s no 45Nm on that chart!
I own V4S, but I have to defend V2 in this case.
Win either way for me
I understand the need for rationalizing why you bought a 208hp fairingless superbike, but the sfv2 is already too much for the road. Turn off all rider aids and you'll do nothing but wheelies and wheelspins trying to put that much extra v4 power on the road. Believe me, I have a diavel 1260 s, which puts 124 nm at 4500 rpm (the point at which the sfv4 dyno chart starts) and its outright unsafe to ride without aids.
you have to Rev out the V2 to get the best out of it. The V4 just has power everywhere
Mate, you disagree with Neeves! Like your way of thinking. I have read that heat management is better on the 4 as well - not have enough personal experience to comment.
Neeves is a cool cat and my favourite bike reviewer but we all have bad hair day s. Have a great weekend
@@thefika about to throw the leg over and go for a ride…’stralya!
People who can’t control their wrist… it’s not an engine/power issue
100%
I think you looking that 45Nm wrong on the v2 mate, aint 45 its more like 80ish
At the RPM I was talking about not total?
That's right, V2 has low torque. A Yamaha MT-07 has more torque below 8,000 revs
That's right and what an awesome bike. There are other too like the Tuono V4 and Super Duke but I was really comparing the V2 to the V4
You do realize that the sfv2 produces the max torque of the MT-07 from 3000 to 5000 rpm, and then it starts to climb right? 😉
Yep you’ve sold me
V4 it is
Woof. The only way to fly
What's the confusion here?
laptop reviews voice!
Tally ho
Superduke 1290 more fun then Streetfighter 🤙✊✊🔥
I'm sure thats epic.
said no one ever
Because of budget
Yep
I had a Ducati 1200 monster, the power was rude and brutal. My SFV4 is butter smooth very easy to ride slow or fast.
Nice
Tally-ho!!! Sound argument, damn I got to find more money lol
Mate. They Bike is worth the wait
V2 isn’t worth it for the money difference
👍
So to sum things up just get a Tuono 1100 Factory for that sweet torque lol. Good video mate.
Ah man. That was very tempting. Tuono is amazing
Nah, get base tuono, it's more comfy than factory and even cheaper than sfv2 🤣
After riding them all back to back SFV4 feels like it has very little torque compared to tuono, have to rev it to the moon and go wot to go anywhere.
Hahaah v4 better for Road ?? Which drugs are you on ?
what part do you disagree with?
The same ethical high octane formula as me 💪😎
Thanks for this sensible and clear video. I just opted for the V4S instead of the V2 despite loving the looks of the latter. Have just taken off the wings and it is almost as good looking as the V2 but with all the benefits you set out. Enjoying your musings from Cape Town. Keep the videos coming.
Great to hear!
Is it difficult to take off those hideous looking wings? I just bought a 2022 SF V4 and can’t wait until Spring!
