I feel like you guys should do some graphics on the topics that you guys talk about. Like the part that you talked about KD on instagram you could have showed the post. SDC does something like this and I’m not saying to copy him but I think that it would add something to the show
Imo KD is a scorer with playmaking ability. For KD’s position and role on his teams he’s never had to showcase extreme playmaking ability. When the you think of playmakers also, outside of guards, there aren’t many. The only one’s that come to mind are LeBron, Jokic, Draymond, and Giannis. I understand both sides of the argument though.
DLC Raps yeah but it’s different, kd can close his eyes and throw the ball randomly to a teammate and that teammate will score the ball because everyone in golden state can shoot the ball, but that’s not the case with giannis and jokic
Over 5 assists per game from a SF/PF who's also a primary scorer is way above average. You wouldn't call KD a "playmaker" over a "scorer" if you had to put him in one box, but the man's playmaking is exceptional.
Durant is a pure scorer. He is capable of making good plays for others but he is definitely NOT a playmaker. Lebron shoots 5 3s per game, makes about 2. He has plenty of games hitting 4 or 5. That doesn’t mean he’s a shooter. He’s capable of it and shows it sometimes but he isn’t a shooter. Durant isn’t a playmaker.
yeah but both were multiple DPOTY and rebound leaders. Kenneth Faried just wasn't there yet before he got his big contract and they wanted to make him a primary scorer.
those types of play styles worked back then because offense wasn't a skill you needed, while in today's game, offense is too important and defense is focused on less
Durant's primary skill is scoring, hes a scorer, but he has the capability to playmake. Playmaking is like his secondary skill. Players have things they do, and things they can do but just at lower levels. I.e. Cp3, primarily a playmaker, but can score
I feel like you both were agreeing and it was just a definitional issue. Essentially, KD could be a playmaker if he wanted but he isnt one because he chose for his role to be scoring. For one of you, a playmaker is a role whereas for the other it just marks the possession of a talent. If you say that being a playmaker is making your primary role in the game to make plays, then KD isnt a playmaker. But if it is just, can the player make plays, then KD is clearly a playmaker. So both of ya'll are right
Stacks was right about the whole KD Playmaker thing. Just because you make the right play doesn't make you a playmaker. The league has guys that can hit 5 threes that's not 3pt shooters exactly.
Kevin Durant has been a good playmaker this year, he just isn't in a situation where he can show his skills: 1: They're ignoring turnovers 2: He plays in a system that encourages ball movement (unlike Russ and harden) 3: He already has to other playmakers on his team, he has stepped up his playmaking this year but there is only one ball, not everyone can average 7 assists No one is saying he is great at it, but it ism't so bad that it needs to be in that post
Jabari plays the 3. He has less range than Lauri but is more versatile. He's a good fit. Excellent aggressive finisher with decent range. The only way he doesn't fit is if injuries mess derail him
KD is not a playmaker but he can play make. 2 different things. A playmaker who makes plays throughout a game on a nightly basis and is one of his main abilities. A player can play make without being a playmaker
Kris Dunn had his rookie year stunted by injures and Thibs in Minnesota. The success of this Bulls team, like many teams, is dependent on health. They'll make the playoffs with no major injury issues
I really hope I.T does well and comes back. One of the realest dudes in the NBA, and the model of what fans want their players to be. All heart, only the best.
Nah i dont see bulls getting more wins than celtics, 76ers, raptors, pacers, heat, bucks, wizards, and pistons most likely they'll get 9th-10th if players stay healthy but thats unlikely
KD wasn’t given a 7 foot lanky frame to be a full time playmaker. Trust me, he can make plays and set up teammates but this man was built by the most high to score that ball. Also the context of how you’re playing needs to be taken into account. A PG, who comes in as a pure playmaker and averages 6 assists, is different than a Superstar Scorer who does the same.
A scout's definition of a playmaker is not just passing. A playmaker is a guy that makes plays for himself and teammates. You can make plays based off your scoring ability, passing ability, and your presence (reputation). Most kids associate the term playmaker with just passing because of 2k.
Context is VERY IMPORTANT. 5.5 apg is bad for a starting PG, you could say. But for a small/power forward? That's pretty good. Certainly above average. Also, I personally think that if he needed to go out there and rack up assists, he could.
KD can play make very good and he is probably top 3 of SF, but if he is not a PLAYMAKER, because he isn’t like Lebron, Curry, or even PG13 to where he does it almost every night but he still can play make just not as consistent as other superstars, so he is NOT a “Playmaker” (PS. I’m a big fan of u guys! Keep up the great work!)
KD is absolutely a playmaker his basketball IQ and ability to distribute the ball proves this just because his iso game is one of the greatest ever doesn't mean he's only a scorer
Kevin Durant can do anything as to scoring to playmaking because he has those handles which lead to double teams then you see KD throw a dish to the open man
Assists dont define playmaking, so KD can be a playmaker. For example, a guy drives and kicks it out, and the second guy passes it over to a third and the third makes it, the first one made the play, but the second one got the assist, so it doesn't mean anything
Kevin Durant averaged 5.5 assists because of the double teams drawn towards him and him making the right pass. He’s not a good playmaker. He just had those right passes out of a double team drawn towards him because he’s an elite scorer
Yes, Kevin Durant is a playmaker. A playmaker in basketball is a player that can create their own offense or help others score. Kevin Durant definitely does both
So magic get rid of two expiring contracts, to take on 2 garbage contracts??? Atl been trying to get rid of schroder for months, they willing to trade him for second round pick...no one wants his 15M. And no one wants plumlee's trash contract.
Hollywood Hulk they get value and get to start Bamba that's the point they get a starting caliber PG while giving up expiring contracts and able to start the 6th overall pick
Umm no...im sure bucks willing to trade bledsoe's expiring, atl willing to trade lin, im sure ghill, teague, etc are available. They could draft someone next year, or try to sign joseph, rubio, walker, smart, rozier, etc in offseason. Most those guys are cheaper than 15M
Hollywood Hulk they need to spend a certain amount of money and Kemba maybe Rubio are the only ones better than Dennis and Kemba ain't going their so you take what you get, 15 mil for 19ppg and 6pg is worth it
Kd is definitely a playmaker u don't need assist to be a great playmaker, assist don't tell the whole story on how good of a passer people r. Kobe was actually a great passer but got didn't average high assist, still doesn't mean he can't be a playmaker
KD is a slept on passer, teams tell him to score the ball, but if u ran the game through him and told him to playmake I’m sure he can do just that while putting the scoring load on somebody else if that were an option, but he is NOT a playmaker
If I played for the warriors I could average 10 plus assist because you have the best shooter ever one of the best catch and shooters ever. If KD can't even average 6 assist with those 2 guys he isn't a playmaker
Very interesting debate. I feel KD is a scorer with playmaking ability yet he has never really had the chance to show it given he has played with other ball dominant players. Saying Westbrook is a good playmaker because he averages 10+ is false it is just because he has the ball in his hands so often and has an insane usage rate. When Curry got hurt KD definetly showed he can pass and score coz he got 7+ assists during that time. Undeniably a scorer who if needed can step up as a playmaker.
KD is mainly a scorer and partially a playmaker And assists aren’t only playmaking. Getting yourself open without passing is also playmaking, like screens or good formations
Steph and Durant are in the same category as elite scorers with decent play making. Green is a defensive beast with great playmaking. Green is their playmaker consistently. He’s the one making the passes needed for their system to work. There’s no difference between KD and Steph IMO with the playmaking. Harden and CP3 are two of the best playmakers in the league. WB is in the second tier for me.
KD isn't a playmaker. Demanding a double team makes him a great scorer. Anyone can make that right pass out of the double team. A playmaker can create good looks for his teammates. For instance, Rondo is a phenomenal playmaker since he has no real offense outside of his passing and still finds his teammates for good, open looks.
The comment didn't say that Durant isn't a playmaker it just said that he doesn't elevate a game as much as Lebron and Curry. And Lebron and Curry are better playmakers.
KD is a playmaker because through his career he’s had a good playmaking point guard around him, if he were the only person on a team like Russell Westbrook for example I think he would be averaging around a triple double
To me playmaking isn’t just passing so yes KD is a playmaker. He consistently makes the right play on and off the ball. Kyrie’s a playmaker (5.5 APG) but what they’re type of playmaking isn’t like CP3 where it’s just making a pass
I think KD definitely elevates the game of his peers and playmakes. You can’t base playmaking purely off assists cuz it’s so much more than that. He demands a double team, gets it to Steph, then Steph gets it to the next open guy (who KD was able to draw away in the first place). Steph got the assist, but KD made the whole play possible by drawing defenders and making the right pass, and not forcing a tough one just for the sake of getting the assist. Assists does not equal playmaking all the time.
Jabari Parker was on a rise to greatness before the injury in past two season he was shooting almost 50% from field and 40% from three off an Achilles plus was averaging 20. Stop sleeping on him
P is 100% wrong about Durant not being a playmaker. Don’t be dumb. Durant is a consistent play maker who isn’t afraid to make that extra pass. Stop is P.
I think Kevin Durant is a playmaker because he is consistently dishing to shooters on the wing like Klay Thompson and Patrick McCaw and dishing inside for lobs and passing inside to Zaza Pachulia, Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell.
Durant can be a playmaker, but he doesn't choose to be a playmaker. Durant can be a playmaker, and he does it a couple of times per game, but to be a solid playmaker, you gotta be playmaking well over 10 times per game. Also, you can't tell if someone is a playmaker just from the assist number, you have to see how he is getting his assists. If you pass the ball off of an off-ball screen to a shooter 5 times a game, then you ain't-a playmaker. If you get through the defense, draw in multiple defenders, and then pass the ball to the open man 5 times a game, then you are a playmaker. Durant can do this, but his team can do it for him, so why would he try to be a solid playmaker? -Overall thought: Durant can be a playmaker, but he doesn't choose to be one. Therefore, Kevin Durant is not a playmaker.
I agree with Pierre on the KD topic. Elite playmakers rarely have games with under 5 assists. I’ve seen many games last season Kd had with less than 5. Also Kd has some of his assist come through the warriors system. So averaging 5 isn’t impressive in my opinion. Kd is a decent playmaker. He just doesn’t do it consistently enough for me to consider him a playmaker. He has his games with high assists and I respect it. I see both sides but he isn’t playmaking most of the time so I don’t see people calling him a “playmaker”. I understand Mike and Derrick , I just dont agree.
Both sides of the argument makes sense. It depends on how you look at it. KD is a scorer with playmaking ability. He CAN playmake if he needs, and thus he has the ability, making Mike correct. Pierre is correct on the fact that KD doesn't playmake, or play the role as playmaker and based on numbers, he isn't a playmaker. Both make sense, depends on you definition of a good playmaker.
Kevin Durant is not a playmaker right now, because he doesn’t have to be. His game is to go out there and get buckets. He is a great enough player with a high enough basketball iq that if he needed to be he could a great playmaker. But the end of the day that’s just not his game and that is okay. Not everyone needs to be a great playmaker.
Kevin Durant only averaging 5.5 assists at his peak doesn't mean he is a bad playmaker. For Example, in 2015-2016, Westbrook averaged 10.4 assists compared to Chris Pauls 10.0 assists, but nobody calls Westbrook a better playmaker. This season, the difference between Curry's assist average and Kevin Durant's was 0.7, and nobody called Curry a bad playmaker. I think KD is not an elite playmaker but he doesn't have playmaking defficiencies.
Congrats on a hunndo and shoutout the girl treating Big Stacks right 💀
Lmao
Thank you for posting this comment. 💀
Kevin durant can play make BUT he is not playmaker. A similar situation is CP3 can score but he is not a scorer.
I agree CP3 isn't a scorer anymore but in New Orleans he was a great scorer
Kd is a playmaker he’s just always had a ball dominate playmaking point guard
Exactly thank you
Exactly
I feel like you guys should do some graphics on the topics that you guys talk about. Like the part that you talked about KD on instagram you could have showed the post. SDC does something like this and I’m not saying to copy him but I think that it would add something to the show
chance collison sdcs channel went to trash
Dr PeanutButter I kind of agree. I think it’s mostly because he’s doing the same thing over and over again
chance collison it's a podcast not a yt video
Tecc32k smh it’s on TH-cam. So how tf is it not a TH-cam video
chance collison there would be too much editing being involved

You can't say KD isn't a playmaker by comparing him to ball dominant guards like Harden and Westbrook
Xander Martin lebrons a playermaker and still scores more than kd 👀
Carlos Quinones yeah cuz the Cavs relied on him to score
Xander Martin right bc kd doesnt bring the ball up about half the plays in a game... 🤦♂️
Rishmal Rohinkumar the offense isn't designed to run through him though
Xander Martin it largely was in okc. When he still wasnt a playmaker

Zach agree 100%
Dennis Rodman was a hustle player who became a star
yeah but both were multiple DPOTY and rebound leaders. Kenneth Faried just wasn't there yet before he got his big contract and they wanted to make him a primary scorer.
They weren’t star just glorified role players
*points to Dennis Rodman's Hall of Fame Induction

ILest.92 He played with Jordan
those types of play styles worked back then because offense wasn't a skill you needed, while in today's game, offense is too important and defense is focused on less
Kenny wanted no part of the last 25 mins of this episode he's like nope imma sit this one out 😂
Congrats on the 100th episode. Keep up the amazing work. God Bless

Pee talking about how steph averages like 10 assists but he actually only averages 6 which is like a half of a assist more than KD
He was talking about prime steph, not this season's steph.
Klay Bradley Gaming prime steph never averaged more than 7 assists
Klay Bradley Gaming he has never averaged ten assists
Klay Bradley Gaming bandwagon confirmed😂
Sky TheSlayer921 steph has averaged 8.5 though but that was when he had the ball in his hands more
100 episodes. That's insnae. Congrats guys! Thanks for all the entertainment.
Kevin Durant is a good playmaker for a Small Forward.
I'm happy for 4th quarter and his bulls

jabari shot 38 % from 3 last season and averaged 20 a game before his 2nd acl tear. He will be a star with the bulls
Stacks was right about the whole KD Playmaker thing. Just because you make the right play doesn't make you a playmaker. The league has guys that can hit 5 threes that's not 3pt shooters exactly.
But that doesn’t mean KD is a ball hog like melo.
Koh Smoger of course not.
Through the wireeee! Congrats on the 100th episode
I love dis shiii....
Great podcast 💯
Kevin Durant has been a good playmaker this year, he just isn't in a situation where he can show his skills:
1: They're ignoring turnovers
2: He plays in a system that encourages ball movement (unlike Russ and harden)
3: He already has to other playmakers on his team, he has stepped up his playmaking this year but there is only one ball, not everyone can average 7 assists

I’m going with Pierre here. KD is a scorer that makes the right passes SOMETIMES. He has that scorers mentality simple
That hickey tho 👀😂😂
KD is a playmaker playmaking isn’t just passing he makes plays for himself to get open and he makes plays for teammates
U gotta go Cuh that's a short creator
Durant is a play maker majority of his career he played with a ball dominate ph his stats when Westbrook was injured was 27 ppg 8rpb and 5.5 apg
KD wasn’t given a 7 foot lanky frame to be a full time playmaker. Trust me, he can make plays and set up teammates but this man was built by the most high to score that ball. KD is a playmaker 100%
passing to klay and Steph doesn't make you a playmaker...
KD is absolutely a playmaker his basketball IQ and ability to distribute the ball proves this just because his iso game is one of the greatest ever doesn't mean he's only a scorer
Ball like I’m Kobe the mixtape coming soon man
KD's ROLE isn't playmaking but he is basically a playmaker, the reason ppl think he isn't is becuz he's the best scorer of all time
Nah Kevin Durant ain’t a playmaker he a pure scorer
Gonçalo Alves - He could be a playmaker if he wanted to
He ain't a playmaker but he can play make if you get what I'm saying
The thing is he doesn’t need to be a playmaker
Gonçalo Alves He’s both
he couldn't be a good playmaker. everyone can pass the ball 3 times in an game. playmakers are people who call plays 10-15 times a game
Kevin Durant is an elite playmaker
Kevin Durant can do anything as to scoring to playmaking because he has those handles which lead to double teams then you see KD throw a dish to the open man
Congrats on 100
Assists dont define playmaking, so KD can be a playmaker. For example, a guy drives and kicks it out, and the second guy passes it over to a third and the third makes it, the first one made the play, but the second one got the assist, so it doesn't mean anything

When y’all want to do polls, put the poll in the video
Thanks for the great discussion
Yes, Kevin Durant is a playmaker. A playmaker in basketball is a player that can create their own offense or help others score. Kevin Durant definitely does both
Best podcast out there
Mike is actually right this time kd is a good playmaker
Kenny freaking out made my day.

Pierre is right...

Jabari Parker was on a rise to greatness before the injury in past two season he was shooting almost 50% from field and 40% from three off an Achilles plus was averaging 20. Stop sleeping on him
There's a way you can put polls in a TH-cam video by the i button
When Curry was out injured last season, he was a serviceable playmaker. He is capable, if necessary.
Big stacks is right. He's not a playmaker but he can make the the right play. That doesn't make him a playmaker.
Who else chilling and watching them talk with some chips and Gatorade?
I like how he can't stop bringing up andre Roberson and Rachel demeita

D MILLS LOOKING FRESH
Jarrett Allen’s the TRUTH.
Lmaooo that hickey thooooo
