- The Legend of Zelda is sure to see a next gen follow up in the future on Nintendo Switch 2, but how much longer before a reveal trailer of this game?Could it be tied to the live-action Zelda movie directed by Wes Ball? I wish we will get a Twilight Princess 4k remaster... But I was also thinking about a phantom hourglass remake lately... Good memories on this one too...
YES ive been wanting a phantom hourglass remake for a loooong time. Its the zelda that needs it the most right now also spirit tracks.

Also take out the changed bosses in Mujura's Mask but keep the fishing stuff.

It's important to remember that just because a game took like 6-7 years to make doesn't mean it was ALL HANDS ON DECK for 7 straight years and everyone was working their ass off. Lots of team members move on when their work is done. The last few years of a game's development on a finished engine don't require 100% of the team's capacity to release. This means that TOTK could have been on a smaller crew riding it out to release while the remainder of developers went onto to the next game.
Another thing to mention is, what have the 2d Zelda team been doing who did link between worlds?
i think they have either been making a new 2d zelda or they disbanded
Some were making 2d mario, i know. Not sure about all of them
@@ravenebony2267 I am pretty sure Zelda teams and Mario teams are separated, that’s not to say the 2d Zelda team couldn’t have gone over to help on other Zelda projects
3d zelda and 3d mario are separated. But look who directed the game and check his history.
@@ravenebony2267 true Shiro Mouri directed both 2d Mario and 2d Zelda but if you look at the works he has done you can see he is in charge of two separate teams, which come out not long after each other, his other team is due a game out still, I’m not saying it’s definitely going to be Zelda but he is due another game
currently I'm predicting the next 3D Zelda is 2029 so no rush to announce the next game plus I want Nintendo to stop announcing Zelda games 3 to 4 years in advance

Nah, I think TOTK took a while, not because of its size, but because only a small amount of the Zelda team was available to work on it. I believe nearly half of the Zelda team has been working on the next gen Zelda game for at least a year or two already! It's likely that the new Zelda will drop in the Switch 2's second year, which will likely be 2026.
TO BE FAIR, there is usually a new Zelda game for each console toward the release of it, or even at release. If they don’t drop TP/WW remakes for switch or on the next gen at launch , they’re almost certainly planning another launch title
@sethfeldpausch4337 you clearly forget or don't understand game development is getting longer and Nintendo is not immune to that, Zelda development time is only getting longer with each release I find it hard to believe it will take only three years to make the next 3d Zelda on new hardware when it took over 5 years for BOTW on two consoles and 6 years for TOTK which reused assets for BOTW, next to impossible they can cut development down by 2 to 3 years for the next game
They could take a majora's mask approach. Put link in a new land area, make it a smaller world, 4 dungeons, maybe a lot of side quests and more to do within this smaller world.

Give us back BOTW bomb & statis. TOTK ultrahand, fuse, ascend, ultrabuild.. and maybe some new abilitity.
(Statis is more fun then rewinding time. Magnesis is limited to metal so I rather have ultrahand)
I also rather have something like BOTW abilities when beating a dungeon, it's more fun then trying to get a partner to come near you.

Yeah, they said they're done with botw, i think that means the art style and gameplay as well. They said they weren't done with the open world approach, stoked to see what it'll look like.
I DO think we’re getting something Zelda related early on im the Switch 2’s life cycle but I don’t think it’s year one. I think it makes BETTER sense to do it the second year in 2026, which will be the series 40th anniverary of the series and it’ll just be a beautiful way to celebrate the series
If they would, that would be awesome. But Nintendo haven't been the best recently when it comes to Zelda anniversaries, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
What if next gen Zelda game tied to the film ? Maybe a good idea in my opinion
Dunno about having the lore coincide, but it might be interesting if it was a realistic Zelda game to compliment the live action film. That said, I don't think they'll do that. Mario Wonder was 2D despite the Mario movie being 3D animated and the two didn't have stories to match, so I think we can expect the new Zelda game to be just as separated from the Zelda movie.
There will probably be something Zelda related early on for the sake of hype, but I hope nothing is announced TOO early again. The wait for Totk was ridiculous.
2027 the earliest I feel, maybe some screenshots of concept art for the new 3D Zelda in 2026 or something minimal...
I think we're due for a New 2D Zelda game, the Links Awakening Remake was quite a few years ago.
Yeah. My pipe dream is a full remake of Minish Cap! The pixel art of that game is still gorgeous, but I would definitely love to see a modern, HD interpretation with Toon Link, and fully orchestrated music, rather than the middi GBA sound font!
They seriously made the best Zelda remake ever. We need more of that! There are *tons* of classic 2D Zelda games to choose from!
Nintendo did not have any procedures in place for remote work. Which is why I think TOTK took so long. They easily could’ve lost a year of dev time due to that. I don’t foresee the next Zelda taking anywhere near that long.
My expectations:
1) Switch 2 will market 4K upgrades/remasters for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
2) Both Ocarina of Time Remake and the next 3D mainline Zelda game will be in development at the same time.

Maybe no new Open Air Zeldas until then, but there's no way they go THAT long without any Zelda games period. We're definitely getting some remakes, remasters, or spinoffs in the meantime!
@@sethfeldpausch4337 I think that's what they meant by "new Zelda." Remakes/remasters would technically be older Zelda, and spinoffs (like Hyrule Warriors) don't count as "Zelda games."
Whatever they plan on doing, I love my Zelda, so I'm keen regardless for what future Zelda games we may get, whether it be remakes or new titles!

I was thinking that they’ve been working on the Switch 2 Zelda game for the last 2 years while Totk was just getting polished. They made no DLC for Totk I think team 1 has been working on the next 3D Zelda game for quite a while now.
They need to remake OOT, MM, TP, and WW

I want The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time to go on the switch as a remake because I love that game ❤ I played that game for a while and maybe put a twist on the story instead of Gannondorf being the bad guy to be the good guy and help link with saving the princess

"I am a fellow fan." In other words, Wes Ball is gonna make the biggest Zelda fan film ever with Nintendo's stamp of approval.
Seriously, though. It would make a lot of sense to use the movie to generate hype for the next game. I'm not saying they need to be connected via lore or style (as cool as a realistic Zelda game would be), but Nintendo could very well reveal a trailer for the next game or even release it shortly after the movie in order to boost sales.
I've always wondered with Nintendo doesn't create a second in-house Zelda team to work on games in parallel? It is tempting to think that they'll want to make a big splash with their Switch 2 release with some big Zelda game.
I've commented before that the time it takes to make a Zelda game depends on the complexity of the innovation, but the possibility of a second team really makes me less reluctant to accept particular timelines when it comes to game dev, especially with a massive budget like this.

I think we’ll get the Oot remake in that Summer 2025 direct you’re talking about and it’ll release spring 2026. It’d keep with Nintendo having a 3D Mario and 3D Zelda within the launch year
Oot remake would be a solid launch title for switch ,as we are a few years away from a new 3d Zelda

Was thinking about the next new "Zelda" game, it was started after TOTK, which was a year ago, so roughly 2 years will have passed from TOTK release till Switch 2 launch. (Just shy by 2 months) Furukawa says dev times will get longer....so lets say the next game takes 6 years as apposed to the usual 5ish. That would mean the new Zelda game would come out halfway through the Switch 2's life span. Or closer to the 40% mark of the Switch 2's lifespan. We wouldn't SEE the new Zelda game till around the June Direct of 2026, a year AFTER Switch 2 release (okay 3 months more then one year but still) Which would mean that's 4 years of the development by that point, so we then would have the 1 year from reveal till launch at that point, so June 2027 ish is the earliest it would be out.
Coming back after finishing the video. I can see them doing a teaser early in to the system life ie smtv and metroid prime 4 but I’m not sure about the oot remake because the would take dev time and/or developers that could be working on the new Zelda game. Not saying it won’t happen or that would like to see it but I’d rather them focus on the new than the old.
Ocarina of Time Remake is certainly the one I want. After that Majora's Mask and TP. New Zelda Games are nice too

Nope...
Next big Zelda thing is gonna be the movie... MAYBE remakes or remasters in between, but i don't expect any announcement for the next major Zelda game until after the movie comes out. Which i wouldn't expect to come until at least 2026. 2026 would be 3 years after ToTK, which would make sense for the announcement to be considering their track record. Then a release, probably 2-3 years later, so 2028 or 2029.
I'm thinking the movie might release in 2027, but if it *does* release in 2026, that would coincide with a major Zelda anniversary. To release a movie and announce a new game would be one heck of a way to celebrate that.
Nintendo should take the team that made the Link’s Awakening remake, and work with them to develop a new adventure in the same style, but larger and more elaborate, perhaps even adapting the resource management from BOTW and TOTK 🤔 and perhaps a similar item system, but one that co-exists with a more traditional upgrade system. Imagine if you had to solve dungeons by constructing simple single-use items like torches, bombs, pulleys, levers, traps etc instead of weapons and gear 🤔
Perhaps tie it in with the TOTK timeline, but set it in the same time as Rauru 🤔
I have theorized for a many a year now that(against popular opinion) BOTW and TOTK were remakes of the Zelda franchise actually placed into the timeline

There's been speculation about a remake/remaster of an older zelda game. If I had my choice it would be either Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess. I wasn't around when Ocarina of Time and I want to play it on my switch. And Twilight Princess was tied for my first zelda game played. I can't remember if it was twilight princess or wind waker but I have lots of nostalgia for that game. I would also welcome a wind waker remake/remaster too but I doubt they would go for that game.
I doubt a new next-gen Legend of Zelda will be ready for the switch 2 launch next year Andres. Nintendo just finished the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom game for the current switch consoles. That game took years to make remember. A next generation Legend of Zelda remake for the switch 2 is possible.

I’m glad the Zelda movie is live action. I know it means the movie will be more fragile. It’s going to be harder to nail the landing but if they do it’s gonna be SO good. I’m itching for something a little more serious in the Zelda series, more akin to Twilight Princess. If it were animated, I’m sure it would be all goofy and that just doesn’t seem to fit Zelda. It works with Mario, but I think Zelda is more suited for live action.

Hype really did kill TotK. Knowing it was going to be a BotW sequel while reusing the world, characters etc, i think everyone expected TotK to release in 3yrs time or sooner. Combined with the very quiet Nintendo during the 6yr development process with next to no insights or updates to the game was a mistake. It means alot to ppl to say a little something about how development is going. I hope theyll do that atleast for us next time

I neeeeed that master sword! And the master works! Hope they come to US soon or at least eventually. I also have a feeling there will be a lot of zelda things happening around the movie. Whether the movie release impacts the game lineups or vice versa, I think there will be a focus on Zelda during that time; also the 40th anniversary in 2026 will hopefully, be promising 🤞🏼

Sorry, I'm sick of this false narrative. If you go back to interviews back in those days, they always talked about it as a remake.
Also, the box art doesn't really prove anything. Mainly because the English box art is the only language that says it, and we all know NOA's marketing department has a weird relationship with these two words (I'm looking at you "Metroid Prime suposedly-just-Remaseted-except-you're-clearly-remade").
If you go to the Japanese back cover, it says 新しく描かれた, which means "newly depicted / drawn". That's closer to the idea of a remake than a remaster.
This idea that the 3DS entries were just remaster mostly come from bad faith takes of a developer interview in which they said that the old N64 code was used as reference, which was somehow interpreted as it was reused, and all they did was to replace assets and make a few tweaks.
First off, remaking all assets from scratch makes it to qualify as a remake already. But second, the N64 and the 3DS had very different hardwares, so just reusing the old code with minor tweaks wouldn't work at all. Not to mention that the developers in interviews said that they had to even remake some of the glitches from the old code because they were glitches fans were fond of, and they deliberately avoided them during the first few builds.
The point of the Remake being made in 2011 still stands, though. It's been almost 13 years, which is the same amount of time that passed between the original and the Remake.

It's the complete opposite for me. I Still can't get over that game. And for everyone saying the 3ds version is all we need, must not be a big enough fan of OOT. I would be happy with the 3ds version on switch atleast, but im not going back on 3ds to play that game no thanks.
