I have the RTB2004 (BW=300 MHz). It's the best scope I have ever owned and I've had them all. I wish it had high-definition mode, especially for the logic analyzer channels. When troubleshooting switchmode power supplies, noise prevents me from getting clean logic signals. They are clean with a spring-tip probe and a 20 MHz BW, but logic signal BW is not adjustable.

    How is the" interval "determined?

So, as one increases the sweep speed causing fewer samples in each high-resolution display point, does the display BW approach the scope spec BW?

Yes, that's correct (and an interesting way of describing it - thanks!). If there are no excess samples, high resolution mode won't (or rather, can't) discard any sample values, so neither the sampling rate nor effective bandwidth will be reduced. If you're concerned about reduced bandwidth, a better solution is high DEFINITION mode, which I describe in a separate video ("Understanding Oscilloscopes - High Definition Mode")
