The BBC mainly serves itself. It has increasingly developed a political agenda which is that of an urban liberal elite. If it gave a thought for licence payers, it wouldn't do so many things which seem calculated to make them angry, such as turning Dr Who into Dr Woke and a long list of others.
This song says it all ❤ love the song ! I had tears in my eyes ...great respect to our Pensioners who build Great Britain!! Send a copy to Starmer as a Xmas present 🎁 Well done you Sir, you have a lovely voice ❤
I heard Freezing This Christmas, on my local radio station. It is brilliantly done and I hope it gets to number 1. Sick of the BBC telling us what we should listen to and think!
I'm not in the UK, so I'm not up to speed on the fuel allowance cuts. Is it true they are being means tested? Why on earth hasn't the government pulled the fuel subsidies for politicians?
They were basically withdrawn. The poorest can still qualify, but it involves applying and answering about 250 questions. These are not likely to be people up to speed with computers or filling in complicated forms. It was a very silly decision which was certain to backfire, especially since when in opposition they made much of it. MPs expenses are to do with them being forced to maintain a second home, and in the scheme of things don't matter. However in terms of the political optics they might have had the sense to refuse the part of their expenses concerning energy, otherwise the aloof hypocrisy is blatant.
It’s really sad to see those hard working Britishers suffering like this in their old age.Actually they should be respected and they atleast deserve warm homes.
As someone who grudgingly pays the TV licence, I asked the BBC why they wouldn't play freezing this Christmas. Their reply was the usual wishy-washy excuse that they play a wide variety of music!!!!!!!😵💫
They really think their selves something.... Banning a song that they don't agree with. Pity they didn't do the same with their perverts, instead of covering up!
I remember the BBC banning ‘A day in the life’ by the Beatles when it was first released because of the line - ‘ I went upstairs (on a bus) and had a smoke, somebody spoke and I went into a dream’. They decided it was referencing drug use. Certainly didn’t do this classic track any harm!
Remember The Beautiful South's song "Don't Marry Her" from their album *Blue Is the Colour* originally contained explicit lyrics. In the album version, the line was "Don't marry her, f*** me." However, for the radio edit and single release, the lyrics were changed to "Don't marry her, have me" The Beautiful South anyone?
This is why licenses should be scrapped because we found it as in the public and yet they decide what we want to play sure we want it played if we are the ones getting it to number one
For those of us on social media put it on your pages so it's getting heard despite lack of radio play , How dare the BBC take our money then dictate what we can / can't listen to. Wasn't there a little man dark hair and moustache dictated look what happened to him 🤬😡
No Mike, 'Lonely This Christmas' is not an Elvis Presley song. It was written and produced by Mike Chapman & Nicky Chinn specifically for the glam rock group, Mud. So the copyright will be owned by Chin & Chapman and the music publishing will probably still be administered by Rak Publishing Ltd. (it certainly was when the song was a hit in 1974). Whether they will donate their composer royalties for this new version to charity remains to be seen. Chris Middleton clearly doesn't understand what he's really doing if he thinks the copyright of the song is owned by Mud. As soon as he said that I realised he hadn't got permission from the original writers to do this parody version with new lyrics. He might be covered under Fair Use exceptions, but I wouldn't guarantee it. Should have consulted a music lawyer first. A lot may depend on how Chinn & Chapman feel about it.
Brilliant song Chris absolutely fantastic love it. I still sing the same lyrics as you Mike too fairytale of new York its the version I know and love it too not too keen on band aid 40 either ❤
BBC has shot itself in the foot with this one. All the extra coverage will rocket the song to the top and the Beeb's lack of human empathy will lose them quite a few licence payers.
In 1960 the BBC banned " Tell Laura I love her " and a couple of years later they banned " Saturday night at the duck pond " because they thought it brought Tchaikovsky into disrepute .
It’s hilarious watching the BBC trying to convince the populace that Wham is the Christmas number 1 . Sorry Andrew you are the second favourite once again 🤣😂!
BeeB notorious for banning records: Ray Peterson's "Tell Laura I Love Her".... The Shangri-Las' "Leader Of The Pack".... and several Beatles songs including "I am the The Walrus"..... also The Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend The Night Together". The list goes on and on.
The BBC, funded by the Public, have banned a song that is loved by the Public. Who does the BBC serve? Certainly not the people who pay for it !
The BBC mainly serves itself. It has increasingly developed a political agenda which is that of an urban liberal elite. If it gave a thought for licence payers, it wouldn't do so many things which seem calculated to make them angry, such as turning Dr Who into Dr Woke and a long list of others.
It serves itself.
I don't like it. It's lazy, self promoting, uninspiring and cheap.
The BBC although publicly funded it is in fact a government propaganda platform. Time it was defunded.
It’s the media arm of the government always has been
the song tells the truth, its the bbc and the government that dont like it, I am all for the song hope it gets to no1
Mind you, it's been mostly rather mild this year so far for the time of the season.

Done 2 years ago
Stop paying it.
I already have. Nothing worthwhile watching in any case.
Ban the Paedo's
I haven't paid for quite a few years. Won't watch or listen to the BBC in principle for obvious reasons.
By banning this song the BBC have actually brought more attention to it.
its 500 and 1,000\1 to be xmas number 1 so the public pay no attention to it...
Stop watching the BBC and cancel your license.

Thank you Chris ..❤
I remember Je t'aime, mois non plus by Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg being banned by the BBC in 1969 but it still got to No. 1. Great song.
Judge Dread actually thanked them for banning him, because they made him a wealthy man, and because he was a polite, rude gent!
Oh indeed, and the Allo Allo version was funny as you know what!
that will be number 1. every time BBC ban a song it goes to the top. remember Frankie Goes To Holywood so it will be best seller for 2024
They banned Jasper Carrott's Magic Roundabout as well.
No it won’t. Not even in the Top 40
At least Starmer will be top of the pop, charts this Christmas even if he is the worst British Prime Minister of all time.
There all corrupt, every party in Britain 🇬🇧 including Tories,
He'll probably claim royalties for inspiring a hit and using his voice
I'm not in the UK, so I'm not up to speed on the fuel allowance cuts. Is it true they are being means tested? Why on earth hasn't the government pulled the fuel subsidies for politicians?

And like the gutless PM, they swerved the question.
Why pay it at all
I've downloaded it, made me cry 😢
History has told us one thing, when the BBC bans a song it becomes a best seller
Yes, Max Romeo's Wet Dream exemplified that, as do a few of Judge Dread's songs, and Frankie Goes to Holywood's Relax. They coined it, hand over fist.
Hurray just shows how Guilty they are feeling if it's true that they are BANNED come on let's buy it😊😊
They really think their selves something....

Very well said ! 👍👏👏
I made sure to buy my copy at the beginning, and I'm about to buy a copy for a friend. You're welcome, Sir Kneel Starmer.
If the singer threw on a dress, the Beeb would be playing it constantly.😂
BBC Royal Charter , The Truth is what We Say It Is and we will only let you see and hear what we want you to.
they still threaten me for not having a tv licence - with their excuse saying they are legally bound to threaten
Cancel your TV licence to pay for fuel

I thought the BBC was all in favour of charity songs.
Do people really still pay the bbc fee ? I laugh at their stupidity
It would be nice to help the OAP with their winter fuel bills money raised from this song 🙏🎄🥶🥶
They should redo A Christmas Carol with a Starmer playing Scrooge but twist in the tale he learns nothing and doubles down.😂
No chance of ever hearing Oliver’s army on the radio again
New lyic is allowed "One less white figure" instead of the N word, loses it's grittyness though
So the BBC bans the song maybe we should ban paying our TV licence anyway the film over Christmas they play every year .
I stopped nearly 3 years ago. I watch non PBC, streamed catch-up only.

Elvis never sung lonely this Christmas
I asked alexa about a week ago and it played. I tried again a fewcdays ago and it wouldnt. So obviously alexa is owned or supported by the BBC?

Would be great if someone went carol singing at Downing St and played this!
Funny enough Alexa won’t play it either
My understanding is Elvis Presley recorded Lonely.. AFTER Mud's original in 1974. Presley covered it in 1975.
