thank you! wish I had found this detail ahead of time I was actually pretty bummed I chewed up the locking collar on my new HKS dampers so hope someone doesn't make the same mistake as me /: some plastic spanner wrenches would be awesome actually
I like the ride height! I really wish I had the guts to go lower, I think I'll probably lower it down the line anyway I find these dampers legitimately perfect for the street, in a previous video I said they were exactly like stock! So many a little for track use but this is 90% a street car
I think you're right, I have a few directions in mind I want to go with the wheel + tire package as well as a set of unicorn-spec wheels (: for now focusing on keeping it simple because the car is going to see track time soon what is your wheel and tire setup?
@@jaelnava_ I’m stock 2005 AP2 on Ap2v1 wheels right now. I have Öhlins DFV coming in next week and gonna get 20mm H&R spacers for front and rear. Fill out the wheel wells and go for a lower but functional height. Volk Ze40 will come later. What wheels are you thinking?
It’s gonna look uneven the more you stare at it lol. I ran into the same issue with mine. Bust out the measuring tape, or get it corner balanced if you’re up to it
that's the plan! really wanna have it corner balanced but lots to do before then so this was kind of an in-the-mean-time thing until then and for aesthetics if you know any good corner balancing shops in LA, SD plugem!

I been scoping a ton of videos recently and I would love to be a pro at it because I actually have a few other items I want to repair so it makes sense to kinda add a skill to the toolbelt... what do you need to repair?
I mentioned I'd love to be more scientific in my approach here but it's the beginning of the tuning process, soon I'd like to have the car corner balanced and that's where a lot of the details are gonna get sorted - this was mostly for aesthetics and to get the car looking more balanced
It looks pretty even to me. I wouldn’t go lower especially since your lip has already been damaged. I wouldn’t want to damage those rare factory oem parts.
Yeah agreed, at this point it makes more sense to sport authentic JDM bumpers because they're still in production and OE parts are so limited /: what setup is on your car?
I have a 1970 Datsun 240z and almost all of the parts on my car are rare oem parts that are not available anymore or they are rare nismo parts that are not available.
One finger gap on front and back on mine. Sitting on Ohlins. Drives great but you might want to get a rep lip and put your OEM in storage. I found that mine does mildly scrape on the bigger speed bumps and gutters coming out of parking garages in buildings I work at. @s2knva
That makes sense, super unfortunate that happened but it is what it is Would love to upgrade to ohlins down the road too but for now these are surprisingly great! how many miles on your setup?
@@jaelnava_ I’ve got about 2k miles on the Ohlins so far. It was a bit too low at first so I had to raise it to where it is now. Definitely drives way better than stock.
@@mattmc7611 so nice, even lower milage cars's parts are 20+ years old so you just can't beat brand new dampers do you track on them or strictly street duty?
Looks so cleannnn😮💨😮💨
Definitely interested in the lip repair video…I have the same issue on both sides of my S lip.
word, sorry about your lip /:
how'd it happen?
10:55 it looks perfect, i have the same hypermax GT setup too with I have 1 finger wheel gap all around. I'm very satisfied with the results.
word, how does the ride quality compare to stock in your opinion?
oooooh the plastic welding... very interested! need to fix a spot on my front bumper
looks great, maybe a bit lower but i love it haha
I love the attention to detail you use when it comes to your S the little things like the tool tape and dusting brush…SUPER AWESOME!!!

I think 15 or 20mm spacers would really fill out the wheel wells and complete the look. 20mm will likely require a light fender roll

Noooo not the lip! Nothing that can’t be fixed. Car looks so good with the new height
