His destiny in the eyes of everyone, including neiji, was to be a loser and always be a loser. It was a destiny he achieved through blood, sweat and tears, stuborn perseverance and persevering stuborness.

He literally called Naruto a failure multiple times in this fight, made a trousand comments on how Naruto would never defeat him or be Hokage, went on a whole train of thought on how Naruto was silly for thinking he could trick him only to fall right for his trap (and again at the end of the fight), and acted as if training and working towards becoming stronger are pointless to the three times flunker whose main jutsu is the one he always flunked that defeated him after training and strugling a lot. Neiji said there was no way he was gonna lose. He lost. He was so many times, time after time, wrong, that acting like he's right is just a 101 on missing the point written all out in bold accross the walls.
