@@calebjp0 hes been a professional artist for well over a week
the joke is that Marc has been a pro artist for like 10+ years
but when Marc says "ive been a pro artist well over a week" he is technically correct because he is indeed a pro artist for more than a week
but the "week" is so small in time and thats where the humor is
He is correct that hes a pro artist for more than a week but also the length of week itself small compared to his usual 10 years of being pro artist so that it creates comedy

To be very honest, your channel really changed everything for my art. I always wanted to learn fundamentals. When I discovered your videos and the longer school lesson ones, I felt for the first time like 'i can do this', and it gave so much more insight, and thought into my work. It was very frustrating at first, to learn all these fundamentals that I knew very little about, but in 2 years the growth in my art, has been beyond rewarding even with the occasional frustration.
Thank you so much, people who are growing up now, are at such an advantage to learn, and it's partly thanks to you. But you also make it easy to approach for an adult aged crowd that finally has time in their life, to chase their dreams.

Ever since watching this video I have been going through so much artists work that I find amazing and noticing these fundamentals at work. Noticing lightings, compositions, anatomies, perspectives and little details that make the artwork come together. Ive been mind blown and frantically trying to study all these fundamentals now that I notice what to look for and what to study.

It's slow but it's steady. Once I'm done with school, I'll devote my time in art and work! Great tutorial as always, I get hype every time you explain simple things.

I've searched for an online drawing free class for years because I'm thinking about starting my own manga based on the book I'm writing and I feel like this is a huge step for my dream!! So thank you so much for being such an energetic TH-cam teacher and explaining things in such an amazing way!!!! Keep up!!

Idk if you can call it ‘on sale’ if it’s always on sale.
To people who are considering the class, it really is a good one. I watch and rewatch the lessons often during practice. It isn’t on sale, this is just the price. Some false urgency… but it is a good class
Marc, if you read this, can we get some of the older lessons updated? You seem to have learned a lot since you first made them and it shows in your TH-cam lessons.

Composition! It will break your piece if you dont think hard on it no matter how skilled you are at rendering or anatomy, colors, etc!
Focus on making sure that is always solid first, and you'll improve in the rest going forward."

Hi Mark! As always, awesome video! Thank you so much for such valuable info 🎉 If it is possible, i would like to see a video about PATIENCE when drawing. I interested in digital art just recently and because of all the speed up videos i've seen, my mind thinks i have to draw faster and perfect, and that, more times than not, makes me feel like I am the worst at it (although, i know it is because i am new to all this). So I believe it is important to remind ourselves that patience is a major key factor when it comes to art (traditional and digital). I would love to hear your thoughts about this. ❤

I found out more of my flaws when I moved from basic perspective course to drawing shapes in perspective without the grid lines.

  • @moolayenstudios
    @moolayenstudios ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hey Marc I agree construction is useful but I would have also made sure to include that you don't have to start every artwork with cubes and cylinders.
As artists grow and understand those basic shapes you can start the artwork right off with what your trying to draw and since you understand for example a cylinder, you can draw a arm that looks 3d.
It's a powerful tool especially if something starts looking 2d and flat, you can draw those primitives to bring back the 3dness but starting off a drawing with cubes and cylinders often can 1: bore the artist and 2: make your drawings look lifeless and stiff.

I love watching your videos, and your insight into directions. But I don't think I have ever learned anything from these videos. Well actually since you do say directions so that means I have learned something. I don't know why I'm writing this here.

Student: I want to learn about X.
Mark: I have a class for that!

Honestly, my biggest thing isn’t that I haven’t started. In fact, since starting my 2D animation and illustration program three weeks ago, I’ve seen massive improvements due to learning the fundamentals, which I largely ignored for some time up until recently. Hell, in two days I’ve learned how to draw a skull in exquisite detail; I couldn’t draw one for the life of me beforehand.
It’s fucking difficult, lol. But the most difficult part for me is not comparing myself to people who have leagues more experience than I do right now. I literally gave myself a migraine for the first time in my life (I’m 21) this most recent Thursday because I was so obsessed with professionals art and achieving that. All the while, I’ve been downplaying my own achievements, no matter how “big” or “small” they are. One artist on Artstation (Jin Kwang Park, I highly recommend checking them out) whose level of artistry is what I want to achieve in the years to come, sent me a message that put my mind at relative ease. Mind you, I sent them a message, but I’m an extroverted fellow and wanted guidance, advice and confirmation. Connections and networking are key, after all. Not only for success in freelance, a business or finding employment, but for LEARNING from those more experienced than you.
That has been my greatest struggle learning art: seeing wonderful pieces on social media or my classes and wondering if and when I’ll ever reach that level, and for how long will it take me? It’s a slow but certain process that I am growing accustomed to: my perfectionist mindset is slowly, painfully and most assuredly shedding itself to accommodate a more easygoing approach. One where I don’t compare myself to others, but take what I like about them and learn from them in a multitude of ways.
All the while, I’m slowly instilling a sense of faith within myself that I will eventually reach my goals for not only being a professional artist, but a damn masterful one at that.
Gotta enjoy the process of it, not the end result. It’s easy to do with writing, seeing as that comes naturally to me. But trying to adapt that to illustration is a different beast, one which I gladly accept it’s challenge.
