I love when a poker coach says you win the bishop and pretty much win the game right away. Trust me I’m always in a situation where I’m +5+8 and figure out how to lose the game lol.
at 7:25: black counters with knight c6 - blocking the chess and covering the bishop. White counters with a3 ? Fine... bishop pulls back and prepares attack on f2. Queen to a4 is by no means the silver bullet you claim it is ....
8:44 I had exactly this trap set up against an opponent after I've seen this video, but I was a little disappointed, that my opponent did not loose the rooke. Actually he just lost a knight by sacrificing it an c6, queen takes check, then bishop d7. Now the rooke is defended by the queen and my queen is attacked. There is nothing I can do but too retreat. Or am I missing something? Great channel.
Same. I was like I'm only getting a knight? Then I changed my perspective and thought now I'm up a knight in the opening with better positioning. Thank you Igor!
I mean being up a night is still being up a full piece and grandmasters resign once down a full piece since as long as you don't blunder you win😅 I'm not a grandmaster and have lost from a rook up quite a few times(hence why I am in 700 range LOL) but yeah
I think it would be easier for the student if you teach the "standard" play straight through first, then go backward step-by-stop looking at mistake/variations. To teach the variations right off the second move, and then teach less played things first.... I finished the whole video and am more confused than before.
10:57 I think the more precise move here is Nf3. The reasoning being the d5 knight is unstable and black owes white a tempo to move it later on anyway. Nf3 is more flexible and white keeps e4 in reserve hanging it over black's head.
black bishop d7, do the same moves you trade pawns bishon takes then bishop goes back to c6, protecting the bishop with the knight and not only defending the rook, but counter attacking the queen and not forgetting he took that pawn i sacrificed a few seconds ago. What do i do in this situation?
I've been playing the queens gambit as a beginner and wanted to learn more and out of all the videos online this one was the most straight forward and useful, good stuff.
Realized I hadn't watched your videos on the queen's gambit after commenting on your new twitter account. Just got done watching and I believe I've gained quite a bit of new knowledge! I've already got a roughly 53% win rate as white playing the QB, only to realize I've been doing it kinda wrong the entire time. Looking forward to putting in to practice what I just learned from your video(s)!
Good stuff. So if they develop their knight to f6 after the queen's gambit you can just take the pawn. The Slav defence or the Queen's gambit - you just develop normally. If they try to defend their queen's gambit accepted you can win their rook. And watch out for knight to D2: you can't take d4 because they'll take you back and then win your queen. Thanks igor
Playing the computer I kept getting killed when gambit accepted, Kt to c3 then black plays pawn to e5 would love the best play for white. 12 unsuccessful attempts to counter this move. Love the videos
just one little pet peeve and maybe a continuity issue, the chess board theme changing was a little bothersome which can easily be fixed by using an extention other than that the video is amazing and as iread the comments we all leart a lot
Hi Igor love your videos. Please make a video on the Catalan. I’ve recently started playing it on my own. I would love to see what a gm like you thinks about the opening
The knight cannot protect, as pawn controls the square on which the knight shall be standing in order to protect the bish. By playing knight to protect the bisoph---pawn takes knight, and if the queen doesn't block, it's the check after pawn goes up, which is a diasaster that'll ensure further loss of material
Clearly.. ginger boy, in the background, has heard it all before.. and therefore feels, despite some very helpful and straightforward advice, absolutely no need to stir from his second cat nap of the evening….🐈 💤 ✌️
First time commenting - best video for myself being 1200ish ELO. The slow and detailed explanation of the first couple of moves of the QB and next moves required for each variation, is what makes the video top shelf. Cheers from Australia Igor
At 11:05, 4. Nf3 is a bit more precise than 4. e4. Nf3 is a hedge against the e5 pawn break. Once the knight retreats to f6, Black is set up to play e5, then exchange queens, and play Ng4 if white takes e5. It's a little nuance that I keep in mind in that position and similar ones.

4 minutes in and I understand way more than I have in the the last month! You are an amazing teacher! Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Been playing the queens gambit for quite some time now so it's good to be able to know how to punish some early mistakes.
I love when a poker coach says you win the bishop and pretty much win the game right away. Trust me I’m always in a situation where I’m +5+8 and figure out how to lose the game lol.
I stopped watching these videos because of that and the better I get the more I realize how much losing one piece hurts
Poker coach? 2 months and no one mentioned he said poker coach.😂
u can win a game if ur up a piece early without blundering
@@themuscle8467best strategy when up a piece is to aggressively trade.
You have an advantage in a game where your pieces all start even, if you can't convert it that's on you.
Been playing Queens Gambit for 3 yrs … and the French Defense on black .. for 3 yrs lol love them both

Queen to a4 is by no means the silver bullet you claim it is ....
After 6 ... Nc6, 7. dxc6, Bxc3, 8. bxc3. As a result you're up a bishop. This very bishop.
love ur channel, it has helped me in improving a lot.
Awesome, thank you!

I have been playing the White's Queen's Gambit since 1975 and never knew about the Traps and Errors on the Black side. Thank you
What if blacks pawn on b6 gets defended by bishop d7? I have had that happen two times in a row now, and thanks for great content Igor!

Me playing queens gambit without knowing i love it
Because of your channel I'm up to 1103 from being 850ish a few months ago, great analysis and diagnosis of lines we might come across

Best explanation of why people play 1.d4 I've seen. Queens Gambit lesson was great too.

have you ever heard of the diemer-duhm gambit (a variant of the BDG ). I played in a few correspondence thematic tournaments in the 90s.
Black can defend the Rook. Nf3, Qxf3+ followed by bishop d2. (regarding the segament at 8:40 roughly).
All i needed to see was your cat sleeping so peacefully Igor and .... wait... was this a chess video?? best chess teacher on youtube bar none!!!!
In queens gambit declined opponents always move bishop to b4. Could you Cover this in a Video please?

when you say the queen can pick up the bishop, the knight can block and protect. So no it can not pick up the bishop. Just pointing this out
No. There's a pawn next to c6
"Blocking" there with the knight thete is called a mistake since white pawn will simply take the knight...
I don't think a grandmaster who is literally teaching an opening on TH-cam would make a mistake like that. It's basically an amateur mistake.
Great content for anybody who enjoys chess.
