Not a single point in this whole debate is more relevant than the fact that a math teacher friend of one of the president's wives won a R100mil rand contract to do much of the upgrade work. Zuma could have mentioned this surely. His wife most certainly knew about this so why would he not know. And it is furthermore telling that this friend of the family did not even pay all the workers. When confronted about this fact she blamed her inability to pay on competition from companies owned by the "white man". This while I would suggest that it unlikely that any of the contract work went to companies owned by the "white man". Not that I care about that, but when the race card is used left and right by unscrupulous people to get away with crime I do care. Politicians keep hammering on about the unequal distribution of wealth to get support, but with the uncounted billions that has been channelled to connected tenderpreneurs over the past two decades I find it hard to believe that the inequality is still between the "white man" and the "black man", but simply between connected cronies and the rest of South Africa. I think an honest and thorough audit would support this rhetorical statement.
