We did this tour in 2 days, but it can also be done in one day.
In Hinterstein parking is prohibited overnight. We were able to park our car on a private parking lot at a reasonable price.

We decided to take the bus to the Giebelhaus and then walk up to the Schwarzenberghütte.
Attention the road is only allowed for public bus traffic.
The path from the Giebelhaus to the Schwarzenberghütte is almost continuously asphalted and very good to walk.
From the Schwarzenberghütte up to the Engeratsgundsee it is then another approx. 1.5 hours.
The great view on the way over the Oberstdorf High Alps is almost impossible to beat.
The paths are good to walk in summer, but you should be sure-footed and free of giddiness and already have some hiking experience in the mountains.
On our tour, the snowfall and thaw had softened the ground and made walking through the mud a little harder.
All in all, again a highly recommended tour in the Allgäu.
