      Not giving up as much as just making sure we have real depth at the 5 because another season with a potentially injury prone mark williams and only having nick richards would be rough. However i am curious, what position would you draft?

    Dudes, stop mentioning Castle and Shepherd. No one should want a non-shooting wing and an overrated Shepherd that high. Nata Edwards sounded lower on Castle last week than he did today. If Castle had Shepherd’s shooting reputation, then he’d be good. I’m Sarr 100%. If you can’t get Sarr, and you have #2, I think the next best prospect is Zaccharie Risacher. If the Hornets are determined to play Brandon Miller at SG, I think Risacher could be a great SF because he moves better laterally than Miller. Risacher could be their Pippen to Miller’s Jordan. They would have a 6’7 PG, 6’9 SG, and 6’9 SF, but it could work. Then they’d need to address inside depth in free agency or trades. I’m fine with that scenario if they can’t get Sarr. Anything else will be the same old same old.

    • @MvHensley
      @MvHensley 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Risacher is playing against backups in the euro league. Not saying he's bad but Miller would look like a young Westbrook laterally against that competition. Micic was their best player.

      Castle (IMO) will be a solid defender, facilitator, ball handler and rim attacker with some attitude as a floor.
      If he can hit 36% on threes down the road, he's a physically gifted, damn intriguing player I'd want on my team.

    • @traydevon
      @traydevon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lloydfarmer Not surprised, most Charlotte pro sports fans never learn. You should ONLY DRAFT WING PLAYERS WHO CAN ALREADY SHOOT. I got tired of arguing with people about that with MKG. I fell for it last year with Scoot Henderson. I'm done with it. If a wing player is not ALREADY regarded as a shooter, don't draft them in the lottery. It's that simple. You can already see that with Davion Mitchell on the Kings. All that hype about everything else he could do, and he barely plays now because shooting is his weakness.

    • @lloydfarmer
      @lloydfarmer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@traydevon You're kinda rude.
      So, because you made two bad "picks" (MKG couldn't shoot AT ALL, not really a fair comparison) you would pass on dudes like Anthony Edwards and LaMello because shooting percentage is a question coming into the League? That's it. You don't consider shooting form, or things that can be corrected like shot selection, or free throw percentage, or all the other nuances that any decent scout would consider.
      Got it.

      They're looking at the center position as if it needed immediate remedy. But here's what I think though, getting Clingan would mean missing out on Knecht. I remember that old Sonics team when they had Perkins, Johnson, and Brickowski as centers. Nothing fancy, right? But they had a good set of players coming off the bench. What I'm saying is, the Hornets is OK with their starting five. They just need to enhance their subs.

    THIS IS WHAT THE HORNETS NEED !
    1. We need a elite point guard that’s not always injured , play defense, shoot , make plays in the halfcourt, not afraid of contact and can compete at least 70-76 games a year
    2. We need a elite Center with passing , defense and a 3-point shot that doesn’t have back issues that can compete 70-76 games a year
    3. We need a elite coach that can communicate with the players and hold them accountable on the defensive end because no hornets player plays elite defense
    4. Trade Mark Williams, you see the warning signs. He’s damaged goods waiting to happen

    I like this take, but I will say this... The Hornets need to pick the best prospect REGARDLESS OF POSITION. A guy who can make a playoff rotation. For whatever reason, we don't achieve our potential. Invest in SCOUTING. Invest in strength and conditioning. Don't matter Who you pick If you don't Develop the talent.

    LAMELO BALL would be a number 2 or 3rd option at best on a Championship Team if we can ever get there. He doesn’t have that killer instinct right now to take over a game or get on his teammates and hold them accountable when they perform poorly. He’s not made from the cloth of Jordan or Kobe .
    I am not saying he can’t get there
    Anthony Edwards is already there and playing in his 3rd straight year of the playoffs. Him and Lamelo came into the NBA the same year and look at how he has developed and he plays defense and he is not afraid of contact. Compare Lamelo to Anthony like everyone compares Brandon to Scoot . Nobody wants to have that conversation

    Klingon is Frank the Tank with no jump (set) shot. Castle is Brandon Miller with less talent and offensive ability. Why would we trade for Brandon Ingram? He plays the same position as Brandon Miller, has a much lower ceiling, is hurt often, cant play d and has proven that he can't carry a team in the playoffs numerous years. I'm all for creative use of this year's draft pick, but the last thing we need is someone else who thinks that they are the 1-a alpha on this team. Gonna be interesting enough with BMill and Melo trying to play together. Not to mention Bridges thinks he's Kobe lite and most of the team jacked up bad shots. I'm for Castle, if we can get rid of Cody Martin. That dude destroyed gameflow when he was on the floor.

    Clingan would not be a top 5 pick in any normal draft. He's not athletic, somewhat slow, has no offensive game beyond 2 feet. He's a terrible free throw shooter a la Mason Plumlee and would be put on the line in the NBA. Has not shown a mid-range game. He's a reasonable rim protector but his slowness will hinder his defensive ability. Castle is someone that is OK across the board but not great at any one thing. He will be a role player in in pro's. Hornets need more than a role player. You don’t play it safe with a top 5 pick. Remember MKG and Cody Zeller both who were reaches with a top 5 pick. Sarr is the ultimate hope, Cody Williams, Researche, Ron Holland, J' Kobe Walker or Buzelis are better fits. PJ Hall in the second round.

    The front office has to DO its homework & draft a player who will fit the system of the next headcoaching hire.. There are no obvious "superstars" to be had in this draft but there is talent available for draft savvy organizations.. They can't get pigeonholed by necessity when the team needs talent & competition everywhere.. I hope they are done with the every player can score 30 on any night 5 Out nonsense, there isn't enough talent to continue constructing teams with it in mind, the players they had collected who fit that mold proved they aren't real dawgs that can win.. Time to change philosophy(stop being copycats), find players who fit the core & a coach with a system that allows THEM to win.. What are they doing?.. They want more money they have to show THEIR competence and deliver a winner, nobody is paying double for mediocre entertainment.. 40 wins and 1st round exits ain't gone cut it.. Small Market excuses either(See; Oklahoma).. No JJ(assistant is fine), no more first round slew foots either..
