WRO - She literally brought Buffy back to life, i'm pretty sure the majority of fans thought of her as more than just a sidekick after season two when she gave Angel his soul back. Xander was more of the sidekick. Besides it was years before Joss Whedon probably realized that one of his good guys was getting more powerful than the bad. lol
In the final episode she is called a "goddess". I think that is leaps and bounds beyond a sidekick. As a side note, Willow could kick Glory's butt so bad now :)

So it remained, despite how powerful Willow became. Her role and accomplishments were not cast aside, and she even took charge when Buffy was not around, but she always saw Buffy as the leader, because that's who Buffy is. Buffy had the intuition, the visions, saw the truth that others didn't...

whats funny is that willow isn't just a witch she actually commands magic itself its why shes considered the most powerful witch in the western hemisphere her power is limitless because it isn't hers theres no pool shes drawing from its just magic itself doing what she wills. if you watch you'll notice there's been times when she literally wills things to happen no spell needed: returning angels soul (the first time) willing a ghost to be solid so Buffy could pummel it, and lets not forget forcing all that dark magic into herself when she absorbed the knowledge from though's books no contract needed its also why willows soul has never come into question. :)
Somewhat incorrect. She doesn't "will" magic itself until Season 8 in the comics. Before that she is a practicing witch that becomes the most powerful in her category. The power of The Slayer could compete with Willow depending on the battle. The source of The Slayer is an "Old One" which supersedes any Witch. How The Slayer uses her power however is a different debate. Sineya would've killed Willow in a heart beat. So would Buffy if she chose to knock her head off instead of engaging in combat. Willow was never physically stronger than Buffy, even in season 6 when she gave herself strength it didn't compare to Buffys, otherwise every high level Witch would just turn themselves into a Slayer. Doesn't work like that.

They also were part of the group that created the first slayer. And buffy did state at the end of season 7 willow was more powerful than all the shadow men put together. I just find her OBNOXIOUSLY ADORABLE. Which is not that great in a girlfriend, but it's awesome for a TV character.

Buffy becomes very grim and serious as her responsibility as the slayer takes its toll, willow stops being the goofy loser, matures, and falls in love but then suffers the loss of her loved one and succumbs to pure rage leading to evil. Xander while trying to maintain his jokey exterior becomes the ordinary everyman fighting for survival and to prove he can contribute to the team and help save the world
I recognize most of the clips in this video, but not all; which is odd, considering I have probably seen every episode of "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" a dozen times. Does Willow appear in "Angel" or something?
4x13, "The I in Team". Spike has an encounter with a group of Initiative guys, they shoot a tracer at him. The video is at Giles place when he turns to the Scoobies for help and they work on removing the tracer. Willow connection: she tries to "ionize" the atmosphere so the Initiative can't locate the tracer while they are operating on Spike, but the spell gets a bit too much "juice"...
I'm not a TV writer, but in my opinion, Willow only works because she's not "the" main character. In a way, I think Buffy has to stay "the same", more or less -- Willow is just some random other character, they have more freedom to play with her. Also, there's no problem if Willow doesn't do much for some episodes (Buffy is supposed to be the final problem solver anyway) and just "shines" every now and then -- you can't make her "shine" in every episode.
I just remember a scene from the Season four finale where they give Power to buffy... but im sure it was xander instead of Tara... but where was tara in that moment... hm

yup! twice actually! well once was just a brief scene but she appears in an episode of season 4 to restore Angels soul again.
