they did this live at Zepp Tokyo if you want to see it in a higher quality video and larger stage but yeah this is one of my favorites for sure. I had no idea they did that little battle at the start in this video, thats awesome!

It is a wonderful compilation from the three European concerts this June, in Paris (MISA's side and centre close views), Bochum (bigger stage with curtains at the back), and Hamburg LOGO (it was the smallest and the hottest venue, but it was the best concert, in my opinion, because we were so close, almost fused and merged with the band).

well .. I was on one of the shows used on the compilation (in Bochum, on June 24th) and Saiki's reaction to the audience chanting was super endearing. She *really* enjoys the interaction. Go see them if they tour near you!

Was at the same show and you're totally right. What the videos doesn't completely show is her stage charisma - I was more a Miku fan but found it hard to look at somebody else than Saiki when she's singing.

It's two songs, Puzzle and Anemone, both accoustic, with only Kanami (guitar) and Saiki (vocal). It's a good, somewhat more minimalistic performance. And there is, between both songs, a little chit-chat. There are no subtitled versions, but one of the comments have the translation of what is being said by both girls.

Stan, if you love Saiki's voice, I suggest you listen to BAND-MAID acoustic songs, Puzzle and Anemone: th-cam.com/video/aOixj8XE8Ew/w-d-xo.html
It's from their official Blu-Ray/DVD, live at ZEPP Tokyo on April 13, 2018. Saiki and Kanami, nobody else.
It's really great. Saiki's performance will bring tears to your eyes...

Damn, Brian beat me to it. But, yeah, sake is a Japanese wine, you dummy! It's Saike, like sigh-kee or psyche.
    For future reference...
Miku (Mee-koo), rhythm guitar, backup vocals.
    Akane (ah-Kah-neh), drums
    Kanami (kah-Na-mee), lead guitar
MISA (do I really have to?), Bass (with a capital B)
Copy - paste it, print it out, glue it to your monitor.
    Again, no hate.

First time I saw band-maid was quite some time ago and I had a similar but not quite as strong reaction that I had when I first saw Babymetal I remember thinking back then I hope this band survives cuz they're freaking awesome and here we are it would be great to see them in that small venue

    • @VladimirChupin
      @VladimirChupin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

That's the same sentiment which Akane expressed when Kanami offered her to join BAND-MAID. She hoped that the band would survive :-)
-What were your thoughts when you first heard about BAND-MAID?
I remember Kanami starting the conversation in an extremely apologetic manner . It went something like "Umm... does Akane know the agency Platinum Passport?" I knew the name of that agency, so I replied "That's fantastic!", but after that, she said "But you see... it's an all-girls' band and...", and I was troubled. I definitely never wanted to be part of an all-girls' band.
      -Eh? Really?
Yes. It wasn't that I hated all-girls' bands, but I had seen so many low-potential girls who would quickly pull out of bands or disband altogether. So I had resistance to forming girls-only bands. But Kanami approached me just at the time where the restaurant in Yokohama where I worked at shut down for good, and I was wondering what to do next. So, I replied, "maybe it will be ok since Kanami will be there as well". Then Kanami said "Thank you. And I'm sorry! You see... we will be wearing Maid outfits". Kanami knew my likes and dislikes, so she spoke to me in this manner of revealing details little by little . "Maid uniforms huh...", and at that point, I had some reservations but at the same time, I thought that I wouldn't be able to do anything without even stepping foot onto the field first. So I said, "even then, I'll do it".

You should pronounce the name Saiki as if the only vowel sound heard before the "k" is the sound of the word "eye". So, long "i" before the "k" and long "e" after the "k". In other words, it is pronounced like the word "psyche", when that word is pronounced with a long "e" at the end.

There's a recording from the London gig which is far better quality th-cam.com/video/lkk4W7IQiu0/w-d-xo.html . I think the London one has been their biggest gig outside Japan. The place held about 900. The other ones on the European tour were smaller, as are the ones for the coming US tour.

Saiki rhymes with the tennis shoe name Nike. And you are right that idiomatic translation is not very precise. For example you wind up with phrases like "why are tears overflowing down" instead of why am l crying or "Give me a rest" when it is better translated as give me a break. The song Don't Let Me Down is entirely in English. The more l listen the more l understand. See you at the Echoplex September 30th.

This is a comment to your Eluveitie reaction,- sorry if a little late,-o nly just watched it, but still....
    Just to fill you in:
Europe consists of something like 43 different countries,- the whole region roughly the size of the US,- all with their own unique languages and cultures so anything folksy sounding isn´t automatically Celtic. Celtic is Britain, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Europe spans something like 16 different cultural regions all with their own folk music and cultural traditions developed over something like 800 years of recorded music history though the music of course originated from earlier times´shamanistic traditions.
Add to this 400 years of classical composers and you´ve got one hell of a mixing pot to be mixed up with metal.
Eluveitie is Folk Metal from Switzerland.
Styles in this part of the metal spectrum would for starters encompass Power Metal, Folk Metal, Viking Metal, Symphonic Metal and Operatic Metal.
You of course also have Eastern-European, Russian, Ukrainian and Balkan Metal and Folk Metal, all often in odd time signatures based on their Folk roots and so on....
All clearly distinguishable if you know the codes,
You guys have only just been introduced.
    Want something really different?
Try Eivor Pálsdottir- Trodlabundin - studio or live- both are awesome ( Viking Folk ), Amon Amarth - Guardians Of Asgard - Live at Summer Breeze ( The kings of Viking Metal ),
Heilung I Lifa - Krigsgaldr ( Late Bronze Age Shamanism ) or Middle Eastern and North African RnB and Folk Shams Bandar Al-Aslami and Tinariwen.
    Enjoy the ride. :)
