Rational numbers are = terminating & if not terminating then surely will be repeating . Irrational are = non repeating and non terminating 49:00 also note than pi is irrationa lnumber.... but 22/7 is not an irrational no. as it can be expressed in P/Q form

Rational numbers are terminating (3.5, 7, 2.254 etc) or if they are non-terminating, then they are recurring (7.131313..., 23.65833333...). If they are recurring, then they are not finite.
Irrational numbers on the other hand are non-terminating and non-recurring.
