Greetings from Ohio. You remind me of a young Shawn James TH-cam channel my self-reliance. He build his first cabin when he was 17. Thank you for all the hard work you did for this video. Your 3 mile track turned into 6 miles with all your camera set up. Just letting you know it is not going unnoticed. Thank you
What a cozy wonderful place to stay. You should be so proud you could put that all together for yourself. I wish you so much luck and thank you for sharing with us. I live in MA in an apartment and at my age, 81, feel privileged to be able to follow your adventures. God Bless you! Christine
I've been catching up from the future (2022), watching from the start since I found your channel and looking forward to the next in the timeline. Perfect closure video for your winter stay at the cabin. Your camera work is great man and that had to be a 6 mile walk out to get those leaving clips! Thanks for the great video and on to your new build! All the best to your family and cheers from Canada bud!
I don't care how many times I watch you an Cierra - I LOVE watching you both sled in and out on your trail!!! Nothing stops you and you always seem to enjoy the trek! Do you miss it when Skeeter isn't with you? Being alone and unarmed do you ever worry about a bear or moose?
I like how you hold the wood with a piece of kindling when making more kindling. I'm a dumbass and use my thumb thinking I'll never miss. But of course I do. Thanks for the tip.
I see you struggling with your sled on the downhill. I saw a great simple answer that might make your trek in the snow a lot easier. Rum the tow rope through two lengths of 1/2" or 3/4" PVC pipe (5 or 6' is plenty long) with a bit more length of rope than your waist. Cross the pipes as you tug the sled and when the sled tries to push you, it will stop with the rope pushing on your belt line and never reach your boots. Crossing the pipes is important as the sled will try to push the ends outward and not into you. Hope I'm making this clear enough. Great video!
Now that explanation was as clear as mud to me...vision limited LOL Actually it was a very good explanation just teasing a bit and I agree with you for sure. I was wondering what he could do to not be mowed over by that sled and make it easier going up and down hills. God's blessings.
I know that took a lot of time getting back to your vehicle with setting that camera up and going back for it over and over. But I thank you for giving us the whole experience.
And with a tear in his eye, and one last look, he started the long walk out of the wood knowing it would be months before he would return to his beloved cabin in the woods.
I see you're reading about Dorothy Moulter. I met her at her island many moons ago. She had a picture of an Indian princess on the wall. It was a picture of her when she was a young woman. We were her first visitors that year, soon after ice-out.
Hey Kyle, I have been following you since the beginning. Not sure what you did or what you learned , but I have to say your best video yet. One has to realize the amount of work that went into filming that, the constant moving of camera Your efforts payed off tenfold. If I could subscribe twice I would. And buy the way I wasn't busting your chops about the cast iron a few months back, but it is nice to see it hanging there at the cabin. Your friendly Canadian neighbor just north of Rainy river. Keep up the good work and God bless.
Super stoked for your NEW ADVENTURE!!! I hope this year goes in your favor brother.... and for your gf too! Oh and your Pup! Keep up the great videos... Your friend from Northwest Washington. If I was from around there I'd totally lend a hand...
Hey Kyle, you gotta admit, you're definitely going to stay in good shape hiking in and out of your cabin spot. As my old grand pappy would say, " boy, you live 40 miles and plumb. 40 miles from nowhere, plumb out in the sticks." Lol. Stay safe bud.👍
Beautiful at your cabin and so peaceful You are ready for next visit firewood and clean cabin So many pretty spots on your walk to your car Thank you for sharing your videos Til next time take care
a little secret to make your straw broom last longer....when done using and storing it, stand up, so top of handle on floor, bristles up, this takes the weight off the bristles when stored, helping prevent the bristles from folding over, bending from the weight of broom
Beautiful scenery and walk from your cabin to your truck but I don't envy you had to do it 3 times just to show us and move your camera as always thank you for the great video
Cabin looks great! Lots of firewood when u come back next time👍 Good trick chopping wood with stick holding piece of wood to chop!! Always hard looking back at your cabin when leaving. Quite an accomplishment 👍 B Deacon
Nine miles. Set the camera, walk, walk back to the camera, walk it again. A long walk. Now, I don't think he covered the entire trip, just enough of it.
I love this video of daily life. You said once recently that you didn’t think you live a very exciting life off grid. I don’t think your subs are looking for excitement in your videos rather your videos have a real world appeal to them. Your time at the cabin or tiny house look healthy, quiet, peaceful aka appealing compared to what a lot of people are experiencing right now. On another note I really like your having a stash of firewood in the cabin. Some people say SPIDERS lol but I say convenience on the cold Feb Mn days in sub zero temps !!
That is one heck of a hike in and out - this old codger would not make it in less than 2 hours each way. Maybe more if I had to stop and rest - legs and knees are shot! I like how you clean up and leave it neat and ready for the next visit. Just a hint, put your bedding in a tub to keep little critters from nesting in it!
You really made us FEEL that 3 mile hike! 😳 😁 Glad it wasn’t me having to double back for the camera. Whew! I saw that a semi truck & trailer started falling thru the ice on the lake.
Hats off to you you have wood and kindling ready for when you go back Other people you see on here they wait until they get there at -25 or -30 not too smart
No need for a Gym membership when you're backtracking so much to ensure you get good video footage. Just know it doesn't go unnoticed and it is much appreciated. It makes all the difference taking time to restock and clean so you get that satisfaction when you return. Hello to missing Sierra and Skeeter. Stay Safe and as always thank you for the video :)
I have been watching from the beginning Kyle. Just wanted to drop a line and tell you to keep up the good work. BTW your videography is getting so good. From 1 Springer Spaniel dad to another, keep up the good work bro!!!
I think you need two sleds for fire wood. One is in the cabin being burned from and the other is outside being filled up. You just swap them out when the one inside is empty. No need to unload them into the storage rack.
Hi Kyle, my gosh it’s such a long walk back to the truck. Wouldn’t it be worth it to pick up a cheap used snowmobile and drive it back to the cabin when you’re staying at the cabin. You can put it on a trailer.
I saw a Old FASHIONED paper cutter You know the ones that have a knife blade on the side of it. THEY USED IT WITH NOTCHED STEEL.WHERE THE BOARD IS LOCATED REINSTALLED THE KNIFE BLADE AND USED IT TO.MAKE KINDLING RATHER EASILY SAFER AN QUICKLY
This video was so serene and peaceful. Nice job tidying up and gathering wood. All ready for the next stay. Did someone else film you walking out, it was nice scenery, it looked like it was a long hike (more than 3 miles). I like the roof on your cabin. Did you at one point say, you were going to build a small porch in the front, I seem to remember that? Where is your outhouse and shower now? Thanks, Kyle. Always nice to see you. Take care.
I filmed myself walking out. It’s a lot of work not having a camera person with. It’s a lot of walking back and forth and moving the tripod while still trying to get tasks done. I really enjoy it though. I do plan on putting a porch on the cabin as well as a few other projects. I have the outhouse and shower back behind the cabin. Thanks for watching Tim!
Kyle's last name is hopefully Gustafson and I hope a guy named Goldman moves next to him at this new property. Then Kyle's dad can appear on a video telling everyone how the bait shop owner is taking the log to the beaver.
Have you ever came across a dead guy who got stuck in the woods and froze to death? Are they blue? Would you take there gear? I would,...not gonna help them anymore right?
A beautiful silent episode! It was with great pleasure that I accompanied you on this journey. Thanks !
It’s always nice to come back to a clean tidy place with lots of wood handy for the fire. 😁

Always hated leaving. Now that I’m retired and moved into my cabin, I don’t. Thanks for sharing.
What a cozy wonderful place to stay. You should be so proud you could put that all together for yourself. I wish you so much luck and thank you for sharing with us. I live in MA in an apartment and at my age, 81, feel privileged to be able to follow your adventures. God Bless you! Christine
You left the cabin so neat and tidy as you go off to deal with other important matters. Such a peaceful and tranquil video. 🙂

Appreciate the time and effort into making this video.
Thanks for making the winter of 2020/21 a little more peaceful and interesting. Your videos were mini escapes for me.
This video was beautifully filmed and edited, Kyle.
You cleaned up the cabin so well. Nice to come back to a clean cabin. It was nice and soothing to watch.
I envy you very much that you have this beautiful cabin in the woods 😉👍
Gorgeous location and wonderful cabin.
Your home is beautiful and peaceful. Such a long walk.
I like how you hold the wood with a piece of kindling when making more kindling. I'm a dumbass and use my thumb thinking I'll never miss. But of course I do. Thanks for the tip.

Love the vids. A peaceful escape in a crazy world.
YUP, I would love to have a cabin like that.
Have a safe blessed night! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Sad to say goodbye to the log cabin, but all the best for the homestead, will be watching. Thanks Kyle, Cierra and Skeeter.
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I know that took a lot of time getting back to your vehicle with setting that camera up and going back for it over and over. But I thank you for giving us the whole experience.
Why haven't I ever thought about holding the piece of kindling I'm about to hit with another piece of wood, very good idea👍
I bought a kindling cracker years ago...best invention ever.
I didn't, and now have a small piece of dry finger n nail in a tin.
Definitely a great idea 💡
@@rugermossberg9221 yeah I have been looking at those, just didn't want to drop the 70 to 90 bucks on one.
There’s something strangely satisfying watching kindling being split.
And with a tear in his eye, and one last look, he started the long walk out of the wood knowing it would be months before he would return to his beloved cabin in the woods.
That's a good portion for a very good winter story/movie .... maybe Hallmark is pick it up
Another great video! Thanks, Kyle for sharing your journey with us!
Thanks for coming on the journey with me!
Cabin looks sooooooo GOOD - all ready for your next visit!!!
I see you're reading about Dorothy Moulter. I met her at her island many moons ago. She had a picture of an Indian princess on the wall. It was a picture of her when she was a young woman. We were her first visitors that year, soon after ice-out.

Yes, this was beautifully filmed and edited.
Nice words Ray.
I like your trick for splitting small pieces of wood. I'm going to try that out next time!
I'm going to buy the 'kindling cracker' and 3lb sledge hammer.
No dangerous axe blades.
Thanks for the EXAMPLE you set for young people who follow you and want to do stuff like that.
That last look at the cabin before walking away makes one wonder if the cabin will miss you.
I love the aesthetic of your videos, so peaceful and beautiful.
I enjoy the peace and quiet of your place. Thanks. Missed Skeeter, he ok?
I love that big old crock! Kinda miss the kitchen island. I know it’s a desk now, but it was cute the way Cierra decorated it.
Super stoked for your NEW ADVENTURE!!! I hope this year goes in your favor brother.... and for your gf too! Oh and your Pup! Keep up the great videos... Your friend from Northwest Washington. If I was from around there I'd totally lend a hand...

What a wonderful video, I enjoyed the peace as you did!❤️
Beautiful at your cabin and so peaceful
You are ready for next visit firewood and clean cabin
So many pretty spots on your walk to your car
Thank you for sharing your videos
Til next time take care
Beautiful weather and stunning walk back.
It’s nice how there is no sign of civilization around your cabin. Nature at its best.
a little secret to make your straw broom last longer....when done using and storing it, stand up, so top of handle on floor, bristles up, this takes the weight off the bristles when stored, helping prevent the bristles from folding over, bending from the weight of broom
Bonus video... love surprises
Great video's Kyle, you are an inspiration to people, very much enjoy your channel, all the very best to you,
Beautiful scenery and walk from your cabin to your truck but I don't envy you had to do it 3 times just to show us and move your camera as always thank you for the great video
So neatly organized inside the cabin.
Cabin looks great! Lots of firewood when u come back next time👍 Good trick chopping wood with stick holding piece of wood to chop!! Always hard looking back at your cabin when leaving. Quite an accomplishment 👍 B Deacon
That 3 mile walk back turned into 6 miles because you had to keep moving the camera 😜
Nine miles. Set the camera, walk, walk back to the camera, walk it again. A long walk.
Now, I don't think he covered the entire trip, just enough of it.
Put the camera on its own sled and pull it up to you

40 plus years making fires and you be taught me how to carry wood more efficiently and cut kindling safer.
Excellent video Kyle I too will miss the cabin 😪🤧👍✌ !!!!!
Beautiful country ❤

Long walk out but nice and peaceful. It’s always a sad feeling packing up and heading home.
You really made us FEEL that 3 mile hike! 😳 😁

Nice place Kyle. Thanks for the video. Cool cabin.
Hats off to you you have wood and kindling ready for when you go back Other people you see on here they wait until they get there at -25 or -30 not too smart
Looking very good!!
Fantastic scenery
A second rope on the other end of the sled helps when going down hill ( saves lower back and banging the back of ur calfs)👍
I always get a little grouchy when packing to leave. 🌸
Why don't you take a snowmobile there? Loved the content! Very calming without speech.
The chinking project is really looking good! You got a lot done
Enjoy watching tell Sierra Skeeter Ziggy your Dad enjoy watching your adventures Tampa fla
Hello Kyle, Sierra and Skeeter.
Hi Jacki!

Nice stuff. Seems like you’re leaving for a while. Too nice a place to be gone for too long. Enjoy your videos and the cabin.
Very nice. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing brother!!!
Great stuff. We love it 🙌🏼
That's a beautiful day
Dam you weren't kidding when you said the cabin was out in the middle of nowhere! Haha i never thought you'd make it back to your truck.

Thank you! I’ve been trying really hard to get better at filming and editing. Awesome that you have a springer. They are the best!

Kyle are does boots good cause I seen them in tv show like. Alaska mountain men... " Marty "
So relaxing and pretty. Why move?
So beautiful region. Wish I would be capabal to live there.
Wow that's quite a HIKE lolol. Surprised you didn't take a coffee break over a campfire along the way.
That's a heck of a hick.
Hi Kyle, my gosh it’s such a long walk back to the truck. Wouldn’t it be worth it to pick up a cheap used snowmobile and drive it back to the cabin when you’re staying at the cabin. You can put it on a trailer.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I'm old enough now that I have resorted to having a checklist.
See that's how to do it been prepared👍👍
Ya ever thought of getting an ultralight aircraft to buzz around over your property, ot to get outta the woods to get back to the road

I never saw it, but did you take the old wood burning stove from the original older cabin and transport it to this new cabin to repurpose it?
God's country, Kyle.
Are you going to be selling this cute cabin in the woods?
What an unexpected question!
No I’m keeping it
What's with the big bag of baking soda? I've seen it sitting around in several videos.
