This is the literal translation for "era meia". Meia in Brazilian portuguese is an informal word to designate players who plays in middle, or midfielder. So, Firmino liked Ronaldo Gaucho because he was "meia", or midfielder. The word used by the translation (half) in Brazilian portuguese is used to designate the middle of something. Example: o copo está meio cheio/ the glass is half filled.
This is just an observation because for the English speakers, what Firmino said ("that's half") it doesn't make sense.
