I did time for disturbing the peace, it was only two weeks but I was in there with rapist and murderers because the jail was overpopulated. I can relate when Patrice finds out that the other prisoners think he is in there for the stupidest reason. I heard that "what?!? You in here for making some noise and shit!"
One thing that never made sense to me with the story is why are guys from other states in a Boston jail. Did they all do crimes in Boston and just happened to be visiting there? How are you talking to some guy in gen pop and on the yard that's on death row? I'm assuming this isn't a federal holding jail since there's no federal crime.
Other than the one guy who he said was on Death Row in another state, Patrice never really said they were from other states, they just had nicknames that were also state names. Even if they were though prisons often transfer inmates to deal with over population plus convictions can get over turned and prisoners get released and move then get in trouble again. Hell, there are even some people who get busted again just because they don't know how to live outside of a prison.
