UPDATE: - Shadow Veil in the new Arceuus Spellbook can help slightly with your xp rates and is worth using while pickpocketing! - Apparently trapping an Elf by the Zalcano bank is possible, I might recommend that over using the PoH method for Thieving. - At 5:30 I show the Vyre Pickpocket chance graph instead of the Elf one by mistake :( I'm still talking about the Elf figures, so the numbers are still correct!
There's an elf with trapable furniture that seems to never leave its house over by the agility course bank. You could just run to the bank and drink some wines when you restock.
Hard relate on that college dropout working a retail job qoute haha. I switched to doing an online degree, dunno if you're interested or even can. Here in the UK we have the Open Uni which lets you take your modules in whatever chunks you like and you only pay per module you do (and it's cheaper). I've been able to do one every 6 months whilst working to pay for it quite comfortably, so... you know, college degree ain't ever out of your reach - well that is if you have that option where you live. Anyway just wanted to pass on some personal experience. great vid as always.
I appreciate the advice. The problem is I'm not really pulled in any direction for work. Nothing seems like it's what I want to do with my life. I always loved the idea of working for myself, but I know doing it through TH-cam would be a challenge. I know my path with reveal itself eventually. Thank you again :)
There is an elf that you can trap on their spawn tile near the Zalcano bank. I also recommend the one mouse button setting that allows you to spam left click to pickpocket.
I did them on the day the quest was released, before drop rates were announced and got super lucky with the drop so I thought they had the same rate as elves. 1/5000 is pretty harsh :(
Just a note about the maths done in this video. You're calculating percentages by computing differences, but you really need to be doing ratios. For an extreme example to prove this, if your success rate is 1% and then you increase this to 2%, how much of an increase to thieves/hr would you expect? Is it a 1% increase? No, clearly not. You've doubled your success chance (2%/1% = 2), so you'd expect to double the thieves/hr more or less (it's actually more than double, because failing has a longer animation than succeeding, but ignoring this it'd be double). This explains why your calculations don't accurately include the thieving cape, which is a 10% boost on its own, and why you had to give a "humble estimate", which didn't at all correspond to what you calculated. With this in mind, the *actual* success rate difference between 90 and 99+cape for Elves is 22%, while for Vyres it is 21%. In reality, it'll be even lower than this because you will have to spend more time banking and more time being stunned between pickpockets (a stun is 8 ticks and a success is 2 ticks). Factoring in the increased stun time, the rates come to 34% less thieves/hr at Elves and 39% less thieves/hr at Vyres (not counting more banking). So your humble estimate was a fair bit off :)
Awwwwww, I love you, too, man! That reject guy sounds like he’s got some good ideas on him. Also, that house at the north there looked juicy! Vyre gang for the win
I found a way to trap cirdan in the corner of the bank while standing next to a booth. You can open the bank while stunned and withdraw wines so you don't lose any time, meaning I got higher rates there as well.
I did see the bank method when I was doing my research. I believe it is better but I wanted to try the PoH method because it seemed like I could start it easier. Maybe it's not as bad as I've heard, but trapping Cirdan at the bank can take a minute to setup and might be annoying. Seems like it wasn't bad for you though.
@@TryHardCasual I aggroed the rabbit and used it to trap/guide him into the safespot, it still takes a little while but it's not too bad and once he's trapped he stays forever. The worst part is other people running on top of you because it renders your character 'transparent' and breaks the block and to combat this I did it on a pvp world which worked for me.
i do elves for gp bc i can't boss since my hands do not work, i bought full armadyl and crystal armor from thieving. im now trying to get the new bow doing the same lol wish me luck with my sanity.
I know a lot, if not all, npcs have a forced move timer or despawn timer if they're stuck in one place for too long. The tile I trapped Violetta in is her spawn tile though, so she will never be able to get free when you're pickpocketing her.
For Elves, yes I think a chisel is worth it. For Vyre I wouldn't recommend it. I found that I would bank often enough that I wouldn't have to worry about too many in my inv. Chiseling the diamonds during pickpocketing slightly slows you down and lowers your rates. Better to keep pickpocketing and chisel the diamonds at a later time.
@@TryHardCasual I think he's asking how to set up so when you click to open the options bar, the option to pickpocket lines up. Bc it doesn't work for me no matter my camera angle. Is it PC only?
@@Arcothesis It might just be a PC thing. When the cursor is low to the screen when you right click the options box will position itself to where it lines up right with where your cursor is.

Might have to try doing this as a training method that gives ok money
Definitely not a bad way to go if you don't mind taking the XP/HR hit!
220k exp an hour with 3m an hour profit is pretty good.
