These Gem and Mineral shows have two types of products to sell: on the tables 5 cent garbage sold at 5 dollar range and behind the glass high grade specimens sold at triple, if not quadruple price from what you can buy something like this at the spot where it's mined.
I really like it that you give the names of the minerals you are looking at. Yesterdays live video was so pixelated I couldn't tell what you were showing 😢
The famous tourmaline mines of Pala near San Diego were originally re-discovered when the indiginous first nation people's had dug the crystals out and placed as grave offerings.
For these particular dealers the prices have always been sky high. These are the very top end dealers that specialize in the top of the line and rare specimens. In denver they isolate themselves at the Hard Rock Summit now and in Tucson they mainly do the Westward Look show. They mainly cater to the multimillionaire collectors that want the best of the best museum pieces. For example, at 9:30 that Plumbogummite is by far the largest of that quality I've ever seen. The question then becomes what's the value of one of, if not, the best specimens in the world? I have a specimen of similar high quality but about 1/4 the size that I actually bought in China for a fraction of that price. But the type of collectors they sell to don't want to travel to the sources hoping to bargain hunt. They just want to buy the best of the best, and they pay a large premium for that service.
I wouldn't call that aquamarine, it's just Beryl. It's not blue enough to be call aquamarine and not green enough to be called emerald. Love the video Frank, this is the best video I've seen on the Hard Rock summit this year.
JUST CAME ON AND NOW TO WATCH ANOTHER OUTSTANDING VIDEO. THANK YOU FOR SHARING .
