I played this machine like 20 years ago when it first came out. The best thing about it was the vocals.....just very funny...Mr. Howell saying to Gilligan... ' I hope there's more where that comes from' and ' Gilligan, how would you like to be my caddie ?' were just hilarious because of the timing.
this is actually the second pinball game made by williams/bally to have a dot matrix display (the first one was Terminator 2, but due to the production of T2 taking more time than expected, Gilligan's Island was the first one to be released before T2)
$0.50 per play pinball was the death nail in pinball's coffin. I wonder if that 45 second jackpot feature is adjustable? I mean come on, the product manager or was he the product designer couldn't even play the thing without cheating, how the hell was a kid supposed to ever be able to master it when the thing cost $0.50 a game or 3 credits for $1.00? It's much more fun to have a few machines in the basement and keep my pinball wizardry, or lack thereof, amongst family and friends.
+Takena Schitt Ofcoarse that is adjustable in the options menu you can find behind the coin door. It s a smart machine, and also the prizes were adjustable as well. So it all came down to the owners greed but on the other side people want new stuff and those new things had to make some money as well. And machines wear down mechanicly or people can t use the machines decently so all that bodywork wears down in time as well. It s more then just those 50 cents wich meant the end of arcades as we know it. But pinball isn t dead at all. Stern survived and took the best designers from the dead companies onboard and the last few years new manufacturers also enter.
Data East had some DMD pins with smaller DMD:s , released before Gilligan! Gilligan's Island was the first pinball to be released with a standard DMD!!
I am not a great pinballer... but i got to this games wizardmode like 11 years ago( the 2 time in my life i played it) Spent 2 Swedish kronor on it( you could play a game for one krona) Never gonna play it again if there are other pinballs around
i didnt know you could play the game while the glass is removed, cuz i always thought it would be cool to just drop the ball wherever if i got pissed off enough
I din't really enjoy this that much because multi-ball can only be achived by a random lucky blue lagoon. And you always don't get the mult-ball its always just some point. How dumb is that. versus other pinball games you get multi-ball by locking a number of balls and then shooting a certain targert or ramp. Gilliagans Island just dosen't have a strategic challenge.
i just played this game for free like 20 times at a store there also was the simpsons pinball party there was rct pinball and there was pirates of the carrabean and there was spider man. they were all free!!!! i played te whole day and this pinball was my favorite
maybe if they can get permission from Turner Entertainment (who owns the rights to the show), along with Bob Denver's estate, it might show up on The Pinball Arcade
I think that there are other underrated WMS opins that should be put on the Arcade before this one!!... Demolition man, Banzai Run, Popeye, Dirty Harry, and Congo
I played this game about 2 years ago at a local bowling . of course the machine was defective , i really ended up playing only 1 game , after that it went kaput !

I had a lot of fun with one of these machines back when they were new. Very well designed for being the first dot-matrix machine.

Crave Entertainment should do a Bally's Pinball Collection for all console. Include THIS pinball machine!

Not really, In 1999, Star Wars Episode 1 Pinball made Williams & Bally Pinball shut down by WMS Industries.
