  • I make a two tier bird feeding station for a Nursing home from a fence post and a collection of offcuts.
The aim was to design and make something that all the residents of the home could access even those with mobility difficulties.

You have more tools than that other carpenter Jesus bloke and I believe he had a few tricks up his sleeve too. Never seen so many tools. Beats my hand saw and screw driver. Lol. Many thanks for the video.

Hi Steve, Great build and a fantastic sentiment as well. I'm sure the residents of the nursing home will get a huge amount of pleasure from it. Brilliant Steve. Cheers, Huw

That is as solid as a brick built outhouse! Lovely job, I would build one of these myself if we did not have so many Sparrowhawks around, that should last a long time. Stay safe! Chris B.

Great workmanship but... for anyone without that mass of tools and equipment, don't be put off, you can knock one up with a few hand tools

Nice video. This has given me a few ideas for my table.
    What finish did you use?

Thanks Joe, hope it helped, I used a clear Barrentine wood treatment and some Osmo UV protection oil. Cheers Steve

Great job. Did you put drain holes in the tables or is it under cover ? Keep well and stay safe.

stephen T Hi Stephen, Thanks for the watch and comment and no I didn’t put drain holes in as it’s in a quite sheltered area so thought it wouldn’t need them 🤞🏼 Take care Cheers Steve

Love it. How can I add a baffle to prevent squirrels stealing and messing up with bird food?

If the squirrels are anything like the ones we have here then they’ll figure out a way to get round any preventative solution I’m sure 😉 a couple of ideas to consider 1) you could use two pieces for the post and join them by using a large dowel (broom handle etc) and place a baffle at that joint. 2) another option would be to square up the hole in the baffle to suit the size of post used, place on the post prior to setting the table on, support the baffle with some support blocks at the height you wish. Hope this helps Cheers Steve
