Dylan Anderson needs to come back to the genre. He has the range to absolutely kill it. His side projects are okay but nothing close to what we could become if he was still in post hardcore
I suppose in theory, they could. However, it would never be the same. The breakup of "Of Machines" started when Dylan Anderson messed up his voice. That was because when he took his voice to the top, he was singing out of his range, and nearly screaming all of the time. But that's the sound that forever cemented their spot in the Post-Hardcore genre, and in the music industry. I suppose we can just appreciate it for what it is, and be thankful that this music exists.
uhm no of machines broke up because bennett left then dyland left due to money issues and pressure from his family, had nothing to do with ruining his voice. then another member didnt want to find a new vocalist so he left leaving only two members left and only one being original to the band. bennett wanted to go back to school and got tired of touring, dylan again pressure from his family and financial issues and probably some drama in the band due to austin thornton the original drummer being a dickhead and control freak which is why woe is me his second band broke up. you can literally find loads of articles on this so how are you this dumb in the age of the internet? lambgoat.com/news/14024/Of-Machines-vocalist-leaves-band bennett leaves in February band breaks up in april, www.altpress.com/news/entry/of_machines_break_up with statements from the guitarist about how anderson wanted to leave earlier and why he left. and that the band stopped after the record labeled dropped them after 3 of the members left within a few months of each other before a single one had been replaced.
Higher tenor singers usually don't have much of an adam's apple (visible to the naked eye) while Dylan had a giant one. Dylan was singing in the range of high tenors in that Of Machines album, so what you said definitely makes sense that he was straining his voice to hit those upper 5th octave notes. That album will always be a classic to me and I appreciate him going out of his comfort zone to give us such an epic vocal performance.
@Dream9531 Austin Thornton was the drummer for Of Machines (or at least one of them, they had quite a few). Because this band was such a success, when he formed Woe, is Me, they got signed to Rise before ever playing a show.
@forrestgoesrawr he left almost a year after the album dropped if i remember correctly, he left because there were arguing about which sound they were going for on the 2nd album. austin wanted woe is me-ish sound (before there was woe is me, ofcourse) or the same sound as on OM first album, the others wanted more experimentation which we will probably never hear :[ also im pretty sure dylan hates austin, because he even omitted him from the dedication of this song to ex OM members
woe is me is a rip off of the band of machines. so austin thornton the drummer was in both bands. different line ups but some of woe is me was considered for replacing of machines members or were originally considered for of machines. austin wanted to go a heavier route. other members wanted to go a different route. that and financial issues and fighting between austin and dylan lead dylan to leave plus stress from his family bitching about him not making money. then the other vocalist left. and then it fell apart. austin took the of machines formula and used it to make anew band. instead of post hardcore for the instrumental he went metal core. instead of ambient and some influences from genres like that and dream pop he used industrial but in a kinda ambient like way. threw in some gospel and pop/rnb influenced vocals with tyler cause he needed a good singer and johnny craig was blowing up at that point.
is there anyway I can download this? I'll fuckin pay if I have to. This is so beautiful. Of Machines was so inspirational. I really hope they make this reunion album.
i believe there was some drama between them, the post has been deleted but there was a post from someone in the band a few years back talking about drama in the band and it making certain members want to leave along with the financial issues that finally made dylan leave. austin also ended up murdering his next band and i cant find out why austin left so i kinda think he got kicked out to prevent a woe is me like situation.
dylan anderson? no, after of machines he did soft powers, and after the reunion for of machines well attempted to do a reunion, he is doing a project called kakune.
For real, this disappointed me. I've loved Dylan's voice ever since I heard Of Machines for the first time, but this isn't his voice anymore. He's been forcibly changing it to sound like Jonas Bjerre. He needs to start being Dylan Anderson again.
It's such a shame of what they could have been. This absolutely brings tears to my eyes. Dylan's voice is just so perfect.
RIP Of Machines. Dylan Anderson needs to return to Post Hardcore genre.
This is absolutely amazing. It's funny how the tone of his voice and the notes he sings can bring back so many memories.
i wasn't feelin it until the chorus. jesus. that gave me chills.

Crying ;-;
@JrElsewhere notice how I wrote cover/tribute?. He's covering his own bands song. Call it a remake, cover, tribute, doesn't matter.
Wait, i see someone from woe is me here. Was he in "of machines" ?!?!
woe is me is a rip off of the band of machines. so austin thornton the drummer was in both bands. different line ups but some of woe is me was considered for replacing of machines members or were originally considered for of machines.

Can you message me the notes please!?!?!?!?
@Benscreamsloud screams yep me to i agree
does anyone know the chords?

do dylan and austin hate each other?
i believe there was some drama between them, the post has been deleted but there was a post from someone in the band a few years back talking about drama in the band and it making certain members want to leave along with the financial issues that finally made dylan leave. austin also ended up murdering his next band and i cant find out why austin left so i kinda think he got kicked out to prevent a woe is me like situation.

It's a little cringy imo
doesnt really sound like dylan
I love Of Machines, but I can't stand this cover/tribute.
I don't believe this is Dylan.. sorry haha
One of the worst vocalists it has ever been by displeasure of hearing.
:(
